CHAPTER 116: CHAPTER 115: ACCEPT ME AS YOUR DISCIPLE!

The lady Ginny was shocked when she heard Charles’s words.

Ginny was Charles’s girlfriend. They had been dating for 2 years, so she knew almost everything that should be known about Charles. She was also a mage herself so she knew just how strong Charles was and how firm his mind was, so his words frightened her a bit..

Charles wasn’t one of the 10 Kings for no reason.

Charles was a Telepath, but when compared to other telepaths, he had a special advantage. This is because he possessed greater mental energy than other mages at the same level as himself. Among 3 Star mages he was probably the Telepath with the strongest mental energy. He currently may not yet be at the peak of the 3 star realm, but his mental energy had already stepped into the level of 4n star mages.

"Of course it’s mainly because it was because the attack had been my own power, but Paragon was capable of reflecting it at me. So he definitely isn’t simple." said Charles with a serious look on his face.

His gaze lingered on the glass of water he held in his hands.

Charles was very solemn right now because after that whole ordeal, he was still unable to tell exactly how strong Paragon was. This is because Drake’s aura was constantly fluctuating throughout their fight. One second it felt like the energy fluctuations of a 2 star mage, and the next it was like he was up against a 1 star mage, as for most of the time he felt like the opponent was just a regular non-mage.

This left Charles baffled. He was a Telepath, and under normal condition he should be capable of identifying a persons level in a single look. But he was unable to tell Paragon’s true level. This had him curious.

"Paragon huh? You really do surprise me." He grinned and said, "We will meet again, I look forward to it."

...

Sanctuary City Security headquarters!

Chief Ross was standing with his arms behind his back as he gazed out the window at the city below.

At this time there was a light knock on the door then someone walked in. it was his secretary, Stella.

She wore a sexy professional ensemble of a dark woman’s suit and skirt with black stockings and heels. Her brown shoulder-length hair, glasses, and indifferent expression also generated a unique aura.

"Chief, I have something to report!" Stella greeted and stood at some distance from the desk.

Chief Ross nodded, "Let’s hear it."

She immediately got down to business. "We found something that I think you’ll want to see!"

"Is it the guardians?" the Chief asked.

She shook her head saying, "No, it’s something else. But I’m not really sure about it."

"Hmm, something that has even you stumped? Interesting." Chief Ross turned his head slightly surprised and then said. "Tell me about it."

Stella nodded and started, "The Preliminaries for the Grand Mage Tournament have been going on for the past few days and we ran into someone that even Ryan lost to."

Chief Ross shook his head. "You can’t be expecting me to go looking for trouble just because my kid lost right? Ryan lost. That’s alright a few hardships are good for the boy. They’ll temper his character more."

But she shook her head and said. "You have it wrong, Ryan isn’t the problem. It’s the one he lost to."

Chief Ross called indifferently, "Give me a name."

She did not hesitate and said. "Paragon!"

Chief Ross’s eyes narrowed sharply at the sound of the name and he turned around with a serious look on his face.

"Is Ryan alright?" he asked.

She nodded, "He’s fine. Just a bit angry that he lost to someone so early into the preliminaries."

Chief Ross released a sigh of relief. ’At least he’s okay, that’s good to hear.’ he thought. Then he asked. "What about this Paragon guy?"

Stella had sullen look on her face as she said. "That’s the problem, we don’t really know him. He just shows up for his fights, takes out all his opponents and then disappears."

The Chief’s frown deepened and he asked her. "You have his face?"

She once again shook her head and replied. "No,

he wears a mask to cover his identity, and the Arena is sticking to its policy of protecting its clients privacy. We can’t even make any progress, even with biometric retinal scans." she was really helpless about this.

"He’s participating in the Tournament?" he asked sullenly and she nodded in response.

Chief Ross remained silent for a few seconds then he asked , "What do you think?"

Emma shook her head. "Like I said, I don’t really know. To be honest the first time I heard about it, I thought it was just some kid looking for a cool nickname."

The Chief refuted. "No one said only kids would be participating in the Grand mage Tournament."

Stella fell silent after hearing him say that, then she inquired. "Do you really believe that this guy, is the same Paragon? He couldn’t possibly be stupid enough to show himself in broad daylight right?"

Actually she didn’t want to bring this up with her Boss. But after Paragon had defeated one of the 10 Kings, she knew she couldn’t just keep ignoring it or it would be bad if the Chief found out about it himself.

"I would love to think the same, but we can’t be the slightest bit careless with this. That name Paragon carries a lot of implications with it." Chief Ross sighed then turned to look out the window again.

He continued speaking. "One of the largest most influential conglomerates in the empire closed down and disappeared completely in just a single week, because they lost a special package a few months ago, The details about that case are classified, that even I can’t access them because they require some serious high level clearance. At the end of the day only one name came up at the end of the investigation. Paragon!"

Stella remained silent as Chief Ross recounted.

Chief Ross added, "Pay close attention to him. As long as he has that name tagged on him he’s a suspect. We can’t be careless!" his tone serious.

...

Drake was seated in class. He hadn’t gone for survival training today and was instead in Engineering class.

Drake had added the Engineering course to his timetable because he was interested in War frames, and he would attend this class every once in a while. But unfortunately, he wasn’t allowed access to any of the War frames yet. Since they were still learning the basics of operations and maintenance of the War frames.

Either ways, class had just ended and Drake was about to leave. A few girls passed by and greeted him, they then giggled as they walked away when he smiled at them.

He was thinking about what to do next, when suddenly a shadow was looming over him. Drake thought to just ignore it, but it didn’t go way. So Drake raised his head only to see the familiar face standing there.

It was Simon Wes!

"Oh, it’s you Simon. What’s up?" Drake greeted.

Simon was a a good guy. He was one of the first students from Drake’s class to be nice to Drake, also he never put on any airs, so Drake had a very good impression of him. And ever since that day when he had saved the little guys date, they had gotten closer and were on speaking terms.

Drake greeted him, but he noticed that Simon had a complicated look on his face. He seemed to be struggling with something.

Drake raised an eyebrow and asked, "You okay man?"

Simon shook his head still remaining silent. This left Drake a little confused. ’What’s the matter with him?’ Drake thought. By now quite a few people had noticed the abnormality in their interaction and were paying attention to Drake and Simon.

Suddenly, Simon had a light of determination light up in his eyes and he bowed lowly in front of Drake.

"Please accept me as your disciple!" Simon called out.

The whole class suddenly fell silent.

Drake tilted his head slightly in confusion. He thought, ’Umm, What’s going on?’ then he asked. "I don’t get it. Accept you as my disciple?"

Drake was startled. As far as he was concerned Simon was very smart. Hell he wasn’t just smart a kid, he was an absolute genius tinker when it came to tech stuff.

To use an analogy, If Batman’s butler Alfred had a son and Iron man had a daughter and those two had a kid. then their kid would definitely be old Simon here.

Simon did not raise his head and continued "Yes! Please teach me your techniques on how to pick up girls."

Drake was dumbstruck. He was at a complete loss for words.

Simon added, "You are able to subdue three top grade beauties and they don’t even dare to be dissatisfied, but instead get along so you are definitely a supreme master in the pick up arts. So please take me as your disciple."

At this moment several sharp glares instantly locked onto the two of them. Naturally these were the glares from the girls in the class.

Drake’s expression suddenly turned unsightly.

’Goddamnit read the fucking room bro. Did we have some kind of blood feud in your previous life or something? Seriously, even if there is some irreconcilable vendetta between us, that doesn’t mean you should con me like this.’ Drake cursed inwardly.

...

A couple of minutes later, Drake and Simon were seated across from each other in a cafeteria.

Drake had a deep frown on his face as he glared at Simon.

"You know you’ve got some nerve, I’ll give you that much. Have you never heard of the words ’Being tactical’?" Drake scolded, "luckily the girls weren’t anywhere nearby to hear what you said or I really would have lost my life thanks to you."

Simon kept his face lowered and didn’t dare to raise his head. He knew he was wrong to talk about such sensitive matters in such a public place.

But what should he have done?
