Chapter 54: Morning pancakes
CHAPTER 54: MORNING PANCAKES
Braelyn’s POV
The night was pretty short, and the next morning, I was woken up by a pair of bickering brats. That’s the best way I would describe them.
The sound of Genny’s and Joey’s voices was loud enough to wake me up from bed.
After managing to get ready for the day and changing into new clothes that were left in the room for me, I decided to check what the ruckus was about.
I ended up half limping to the kitchen because of my leg. Luckily, it wasn’t swollen, but walking on that foot still hurts like hell.
I was wearing a pair of baggy joggers and a matching T-shirt. They were new, but from the style, I was certain it was Genny who picked out the clothes from the online store. Not only was it her uniqueness, but the person knew down to the size of my underwear.
The only person who knew that information had to be the tall witch who had been my bestie for years. Genny even knew my bra size better than I do...I couldn’t think of anyone else in this villa who wouldn’t feel creepy.
"The heat is too much. What the hell do you think you are doing?" Genny was snapping at poor Joey who was trying to fry some pancakes. Poor guy, he had to endure her nagging.
My eyes narrowed at Genny, who was wearing a matching outfit with me. They kinda of made me relieved. "If you bark less and talk more it will make things easier." Joey snapped at her. He was still in his PJs, and his eyes were glaring hard at Genny, who was a few inches shorter than he was.
She crossed her hand, "I can’t talk calmly because it feels like I am talking to a child who can’t cook to save his life." Their heated argument continued. They were both in their little world and they didn’t notice me standing by the door.
Joey’s jaw clenched. He was probably thinking of a retort when a calm nonchalant voice came from behind me.
"Well, he is a child who can’t cook to save his life." Lucien chimed in drawing everyone’s attention. His gaze fell on me and a subtle smile graced his lips.
"Good morning Lynn. You should find a seat instead of wasting your time watching this disaster," he mentioned, walking past me to a kitchen stool. Genny was speechless.
Her nose crinkled, and she then darted back to Joey. "Flip it.. you are burning it!!" She snapped at Joey who was distracted for a moment and burnt the pancakes.
"Shit," Joey cursed then immediately flipped the pancakes. I managed to get to a seat. Lucien’s laugh was nonstop as he watched the show.
"Why the hell did you even think of cooking?" He snickered opening a can of Coke
"You should have ordered takeout or asked the chef to come over," Lucien suggested.
Joey hissed. "Do you think I will endure this torture willingly? Braelyn, please teach your friend to be more like you." I could feel Genny’s frustration. This was getting more hilarious to watch...
"The chef fell sick and I didn’t feel like having takeout." He said but it didn’t feel like a legit reason.
"So you decided to poison us instead." Lucien sneered before he shook his head to add.
"Well, it’s your house and rules."
Wait, this was Joey’s place. How much did he make from game streaming although I doubt that was his only source of income.
"I thought this was your place," I mentioned to Lucien who was seated next to me.
"Nah, I can’t leave here. He lacks taste and style." Lucien taunted earning him a dark laugh from Joey. I gave the kitchen another glance
The interior wasn’t lacking style. Lucien was just trying to get on Joey’s nerves. Thank God I wasn’t the only one suffering from his taunts.
"Coming from the guy whose entire personality is being troublesome " Joey scoffed. Genny was nagging at him while adding new batter to the pan.
"Stop playing around and focus on the pan. If you can’t fry simple pancakes, how will you impress the one you like? Pancakes in bed are the most romantic thing ever." Genny berated him again although this time her voice was softer because Joey was listening.
Lucien chuckled again. I really feel bad for Joey now, as someone in the same shoes as him. "Why don’t you help them?" I asked Lucien who was enjoying this too much.
He smiled at me. "And miss this show. They look like an old bickering couple who enjoy getting on each other’s nerves." Lucien chimed which the pair across us heard clearing.
"Who the hell are you calling a couple? " Joey snapped. Genny’s eyes were glaring at him
"Like, why would I date a man who can’t fry simple pancakes and spend most of his day gaming?" She said condescendingly.
Joey was left completely speechless by her. He switched off the burner and then pulled off the apron.
"I guess we are having takeout." He deadpanned. Genny was a bit excessive she barely knew the guy and was roasting him. Although these are my thoughts which would never leave my lips.
She huffed, "Like anyone was going to enjoy your burnt pancakes."
"Why can’t you fry them yourself?" Joey retorted. Genny left out an eerie laugh
"I am doing you a favour here and all you can do is complain. I already mixed the batter myself." They got into a stare-down, and before I knew it, Lucien and I were laughing our ass off.
"I guess I will be cooking then. That’s enough argument for one morning." He finally decided to intervene. Joey left the kitchen immediately unable to stand Genny.
My brows furrowed at his retreating back before glancing back at Genny. "Why are you after the poor guy? He literally saved us last night." I questioned her.
She pouted her lips. "What?" She asked obliviously. "I was only trying to help. It’s not my fault he is bad at taking instructions."
