Cultivating Through The Game
Chapter 427 - 266: Meeting Chu Tiange Again
The endless western desert border stretches thousands of miles, rooted with thousands of outposts.
After hundreds of years, many of these outposts have been abandoned. The few remaining ones have lost their original functions, becoming shelters against the elements for their residents.
On this day, groups of giants appeared on the barren sandy land.
One by one, the sand giants rose from the ground and advanced toward Yellow Sand City and other frontier cities on the western desert border. Their first stop was the abandoned or ineffective outposts.
"What are those things?" A woman drying clothes in her fenced yard exclaimed as she saw the rolling sand on the horizon, witnessing a boundless wall of sand moving sideways toward them.
Upon hearing the woman's cries, the man instinctively picked up his weapon and stepped out of the house. As soon as he did, he saw countless tall sand giants heading their way.
His face changed drastically, and he shouted to the woman, "Quick, bring the children outside; I'll get the sand camel.".
The sand camel pulled a simple cart swiftly toward Yellow Sand City. Behind the camel were endless numbers of sand giants, while the terrified woman clutched her three children tightly on the cart.
The man, holding a long spear and carrying a crossbow, gripped the spear tightly, nervously watching as the sand giants engulfed his home.
The watchtower outside the outpost was toppled by the sand giants, the low houses flattened; nothing could stop the sand giants' advance.
"Report! A large number of sand golems were spotted six hundred miles away, heading towards Yellow Sand City."
"What's the specific situation? How many sand golems are there in total? Has the manipulator behind the sand golems been found? Investigate further!" Yellow Sand City's commander Zhang Yulin ordered upon hearing this.
The scout immediately replied: "Yes."
He turned and quickly left Yellow Sand City, rushing in the direction where the sand giants appeared.
All major cities on the western desert border sent numerous scouts to investigate the situation while mobilizing troops to prepare for battle.
"Quick, quick, quick! Everyone gear up, grab your weapons and get on the walls; this is not a drill. I'll say it again, this is not a drill!" The Messenger, holding a command flag in the barracks, quickly relayed the general's orders.
Many soldiers reached the wall but were still unaware of what was happening, whispering to each other inquiring about the situation.
"Silence!"
Zhang Yulin stepped onto the wall, and the adjutant following him saw the disorderly discussion among the crowd, and shouted loudly.
Clang clang~ boom boom~ Upon hearing this, everyone stood upright, looking straight ahead, though their eyes couldn't help but glance at Zhang Yulin.
They were very curious; what exactly was happening?
Zhang Yulin did not explain the situation to the soldiers; standing in front of the city tower, he gazed toward the horizon, knowing little about the sand giants himself.
"What's going on?" Chen Pei'en came over and asked.
Zhang Yulin turned to look at him, seeing the people behind him, he gave a military salute, "Master Chu."
"No need for formalities," Chu Tiange said, though he appeared the shortest, his prominence and authority were strongest among the few, naturally possessing a noble aura.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Yulin nodded, explaining, "Half a moment ago, a message came from the outpost that a large number of sand golems appeared on the western desert border and are continuously moving toward Yellow Sand City."
"We haven't yet discovered the person behind the control of the sand golems; specific intelligence is still being sought."
Chu Tiange, hearing this, did not speak further, standing by the wall, he was only one head taller than the wall.
Zhang Yulin and Chen Pei'en stood behind Chu Tiange, gazing toward the horizon.
After watching for a while, Chu Tiange soared into the air and flew toward the distance; Chen Pei'en and Zhang Yulin exchanged a glance, Chen Pei'en said, "General Zhang, stay and guard Yellow Sand City, I'll ensure Master Chu's safety."
"Alright." Zhang Yulin nodded, not dwelling on who should stay or accompany Chu Tiange.
Chen Pei'en rose and flew out, catching up to Chu Tiange; the two stepped onto a rainbow and flew into the distance. After flying three hundred miles, they saw the endless rolling army of sand golems.
These sand golems had a uniform style, simple structure, and generally reached heights of four to five meters, very intimidating.
Chu Tiange stood in mid-air, looking down at the sand golem army below, scanning the army, he did not see the end of the sand golem army.
He asked, "General Chen, how many sand golems do you see here? What level of cultivation is needed to create so many sand golems?"
Chen Pei'en thought he was being tested on his abilities, estimating briefly before replying, "It appears that the number of sand golems here already exceeds one hundred thousand; it cannot be ruled out that this is just the vanguard of the sand golem army."
"Without discussing the strength of the sand golems, relying solely on manpower to create and control such a massive number of sand golems, my abilities cannot estimate."
Speaking of the spiritual power required to control such a vast number of sand golems, the area that the golem army covers alone already far exceeds the limits of his perception.
For things he wasn't clear on, Chen Pei'en didn't want to make random guesses, readily admitting his own lack of power to gauge the opponent's capability.
Chu Tiange did not further question him about the mastermind's power, instead asked, "With the strength of Yellow Sand City and the major cities on the western desert border, can we withstand the assault of more than a hundred thousand sand golems?"
Chen Pei'en gazed at the sand golem army for a long time, cautiously replying, "Yellow Sand City's garrison consistently maintains twelve thousand troops, most soldiers are at the early stage of the Energy Realm, roughly one-tenth at the mid-stage."
