Chapter 59 - 56 Bai Ya and Luo Feng
CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 56 BAI YA AND LUO FENG
Little Su Chen, only eight years old, was stunned by the terrifying scene before him.
A purple giant snake, as thick as the mouth of a well, coiled in the vast cave like a winding stream. As far as the eye could see, the snake was about twenty meters long, its body covered in large round lavender scales, each shimmering with a cold, eerie light. On its menacing head, as large as a small stone table, were two blood-red eyes as big as lanterns, fixed intently on Su Chen. Most peculiarly, its abdomen bore a circle of irregular snow-white patterns, looking extremely bizarre.
Su Chen broke out in cold sweat, unable to move a step, fearing the snake might suddenly lunge and devour him. As an eight-year-old child, he had never seen such a colossal creature. Even though he had the protection of the third-level Proud Celestial Profound Scripture, his heart was filled with fear and despair.
Man and snake confronted each other for over half a minute. To Su Chen, it felt like an eternity, and his whole body felt as if it were in an ice-cold pit. The chilling aura made him wish he could faint on the spot and never wake up. But reason told him he could not faint; if he did, everything would truly be over.
He swallowed, feeling the sweat seep into his eyes but dared not blink. The snake still stared coldly at him, but its pose seemed odd. Normally, when snakes attack, they rise up and flick their tongues, exuding a sense of danger. Yet this strange snake remained coiled, as if asleep. Although its gaze was chilling, it did not show any killing intent. Su Chen felt a slight relief, trying to clench his fist. Indeed, the snake continued to watch him, but its eyes did not move. Su Chen was elated, could it be that it was sleeping with its eyes open?
But just as he considered this possibility, Su Chen froze!
On the Profound Cyan Continent, the only creatures that sleep with their eyes open are spirit beasts! In other words, the terrifying snake before him came from the Spirit Beast Mountain Range?
Impossible, Su Chen’s heart raced, and his whole body trembled uncontrollably. Judging by its size, this giant snake was at least a level five spirit beast, its attack power must be terrifying. But why would it come to Wangyue Waterfall in the Black Water Forest to sleep? This was not its territory, and the environment here was not suitable for its propagation and survival!
As Su Chen thought, he slowly retreated, his heart pounding several times faster than usual, cold sweat dripping down his forehead and mixing with the water droplets.
No matter, he’d better run first. If it woke up later, he would be in big trouble. Su Chen gulped down a mouthful of saliva and continued to retreat.
Just as he was about to reach the cave entrance, an accident happened!
With a snap, he accidentally stepped on a stone in a small puddle, and a crisp sound echoed in the vast cave!
Su Chen’s face turned pale, and just as he was about to turn around, he heard an extremely eerie hiss!
He turned slowly, his face ashen, and met those terrifying blood-red snake eyes!
The snake, like a twisted rope being lifted, soared from the ground, raising a sky-high cloud of dust and water droplets. Su Chen instinctively took a big step back.
The upright snake exuded an extremely terrifying pressure; those lantern-sized blood-red eyes, lavender crystal scales, sharp and frightening bloody fangs, and the constantly flicking red tongue with disgusting mucus made for an utterly horrifying picture!
Su Chen stood frozen, his legs feeling like they were filled with lead, unable to move, cold sweat covering his face instantly.
"Snake..."
He opened his mouth, speaking with difficulty, his heartbeat almost stopping. The overwhelming fear left him completely powerless!
The snake let out a low hiss, a flash of cruelty in its fierce eyes, then opened its blood-red mouth, lunging fiercely at Su Chen!
Just as Su Chen thought he would be swallowed alive, an incredibly powerful aura suddenly flooded the entire cave like a tide! Then a godlike voice, with earth-shattering force, reached Su Chen’s ears!
"Xuan Kui, come out!"
The lunging snake suddenly changed its course at the last crucial moment, darting out of the cave entrance!
The dust and sand raised by its massive body filled the cave instantly, countless water droplets and mud splattered around, turning Su Chen into a dirty "mudman" as he stood there in a daze, taking a long time to regain his senses. That voice, which seemed to make his very soul tremble, was something he couldn’t forget for a long time.
"Whose voice was that...so...so incredibly penetrating..."
Su Chen stiffly brushed the dirt off himself and then turned to look at the cave entrance where the snake had smashed a large hole. Suddenly, he started running out!
When he emerged from the cave, passing through the waterfall’s curtain of water, what he saw left him once again in shock!
He saw two tall figures floating in mid-air, one in green and one in red, both dressed in sharply contrasting attire. Yet the men facing each other emitted earth-shattering, terrifying auras!
This starkly different invisible light waves spread out in circles, pushing all the ferociously cascading waterfall streams aside; even the roaring sound of the waterfall seemed to be overwhelmed by the buzzing sound of the light waves. The tall verdant trees around seemed to sway and tremble under this mighty presence, and leaves rustled down. The normally timid animals had long since fled, not a single one remained.
What shocked Su Chen the most was that the terrifying snake was coiling and swimming in the vast pond, raising its enormous head and letting out roars towards the sky. Its blood-red eyes, lavender scales, and sharp long fangs formed the most bizarre scene amid this idyllic scenery!
Amidst the faint mist, the man in green looked at the alluring red-clad man from afar and spoke with clear righteousness: "Bai Ya, do you know what you are doing!"
The red-clad man with flowing long hair had a pale and handsome face, with a hint of wicked charm. His eyes were entirely blood-red, "Luo Feng, after all these years, you’re still so self-righteous. It’s really unpleasant to watch."
Bai Ya? Luo Feng?
Though hiding behind the waterfall’s water screen, Su Chen clearly heard the dialogue between the two. He widened his eyes watching them, his heart and soul trembling, "What level of masters are they, that they can fly in the sky?"
In Su Chen’s impression, the most powerful Beast Cultivator he had seen was undoubtedly his father Su Hutian, the Su Family’s number one Beast Sovereign master. Such a master capable of manifesting the form of a Blood Inheritance Spirit Beast into a fierce aura was surely intimidating, yet at most, he could leap several tens of meters at once. How could he possibly float in mid-air for so long without change in expression?
I wonder how much Beast’s Qi energy it takes to remain airborne?
"Bai Ya, stop trying to provoke me. If you came here for the Longevity Cauldron, then I can clearly tell you, you will definitely return empty-handed!"
"Oh really, haha? You right-minded people always speak with such righteous confidence, I wonder where you get that confidence from?"
Bai Ya crossed his arms, gazing playfully at Luo Feng, who had a mysterious package on his back, hardly giving a glance to the terrifying giant snake below.
