CHAPTER 89: 89:
Lilac
"What were you thinking?" Damien bit out. My eyes had fluttered close but now I could hear clearly, and when I managed to open my eyes in the next moment, the princess had a panicked expression across her face as she paced around.
"Look, brother, I just want him out of the picture, okay?? He’s so— he just makes me angry!" She cried out while visibly fuming.
"Why? What did he ever do to you?" Damien asked her without missing a beat, meanwhile I was still reeling from shock from just discovering that they’re brother and sister.
The princess scoffed as she folded her hands.
"Don’t speak to me like that! I’m a princess, remember?!" She spat out and Damien let out a laugh as he clicked his tongue.
"Allegedly." He drawled and the princess let out an annoyed screech, while my mind began to reel again because I literally believe my ears right now. If I had heard right just now, then it means that this princess was a fake? She’s related to Damien and isn’t an actual princess?
Oh my god.
Does this means she’s also working with the bald headed guy who’s also the Prince’s butler?
Oh my god!
What the fuck?
"Don’t take that tone with me, Damien. At the end of the day, allegedly or not, I’m a princess now. I look it, I act it, I live it. So, I am it." The Princess snapped and Damien let out a sigh that sounded like he was frustrated, then he was settling my head on the ground without glancing down at me, then he was rising to his feet and walking up to the Princess to grab her shoulders.
"No, you don’t act it. All princesses can control their anger and jealousy. Why the hell did you almost drown him? You know how important he is in all of this, don’t you?!" He demanded and she scoffed while rolling her eyes.
I chose that moment to glance around and that’s when I realized that it was void of anyone else here right now.
"Are you sure you’re annoyed right now because of the mission, or are you angry right now because you like that boy?" The princess snapped out and my eyes widened into saucers while my eyes widened.
"What the fuck? Do you have some brains lefr? Of course I dont." Damien snapped in response and the princess let out a loud laugh, indicating that she wasn’t buying his response.
"You sure don’t act it." She taunted and Damien sighed as he shook her a little.
"Ariana, this mission is important. If he dies, everything falls apart. Please keep your desires aside for once." He demanded and she scoffed before shaking him off her, then she pointed at him.
"No, I won’t. I’ll do what I want cause as you can see, I’m not a princess and you’re nothing. I’ll pursue my personal desire and go for if it i want to. I don’t care about the stupid mission, since after all I wanted nothing to do with it in the first place." She hurled at him and he rolled his eyes, an irritated expression on his face as he scoffed.
"So, you seriously believe you’re not involved? Aren’t you aware that you being a fake is already involvement enough? If we’re caught you’ll fall along with us, so make use of whatever brains you have left." Damien snapped and the princess eyes widened in the next moment.
"What?? The leader said I won’t be involved! He said I only had to become this princess and take on her identity, then that is all." The princess explained with her eyes still blown wild.
"Well, clearly you’re as dumb as I’ve always guessed. He clearly lied to you. You’re definitely involved a 100%." Damien drawled as he let out a dry laugh.
The princess began to pace again, pulling on her hair and muttering a bunch of chants underneath her breath.
"B_ but I didn’t carry out any kind of crimes like the rest of you..," she began but her brother cut her off.
"You’re dumb if you’ve yet to grasp the reality of this situation. You’re presently committing an offense that warrants a death penalty. You’re committing nothing but treason right now cause you’re aware the real Princess is dead but chose to take on her identity for years." Damien bit out.
As I listened to sentence after sentence, I was so shocked that my mouth was hanging open most of the time.
"So, you have to ensure you do nothing to harm this mission either. You must think about it first before you do anything." Damien finally continued and the princess huffed, clearly displeased.
"Is he even aware that he’ll lose his life by the end of everything?" The Princess was pointing at me as she spoke and my eyes widened, just as the two of them glshced towards me.
I quickly closed my eyes, pretending that I hadn’t been listening in the entire conversation this whole time.
"I know you’ve been listening in, you can open your eyes.0 Damian called out and I sighed as my eyes fluttered open once again.
The princess blanched and she hit Damien’s arm, panic across her face again. "He has been listening in and you knew?? And you didn’t stop him??" She cried out.
"Oh my God. What if he tells everything to Sloan?! Then we’ll all be doomed and Sloan would hate me more.,." She was still speaking when Damien grabbed her shook her again.
"Relax, sister. That’s never happening." He said firmly and she gave him a skeptical look.
"It’s not?"
"Of course. He’s on our side, so he can’t do that." Damien explained.
At once, something twisted and I wondered what might happen if I come clean to Sloan about all of this that’s happening.
"Are you sure? It’s a little weird that he’d be on our side he’ll die at the end." The princess pointed out and Damien massaged his forehead while groaning.
"Stop saying that over and over again, you’ll just scare him!" He snapped sx his eyes darted towards me for a moment.
My heart was still stuck in my throat from just discovering that these people still planned to kill me at the end of all of this. I had no idea of this before but I guess I should have expected it, that they wouldn’t let me live after all what I already knew about them.
But it was still so shocking.
"And he won’t get killed. I won’t allow it." Damien finally said to the princess who hummed while giving me a long look.
"You won’t? You’re sounding like you have any power compared to the leader. If the leader gives you an order, you can’t refuse it."
Damien looked angry this time.
"I’m aware of that, which is why I’m already working on it."
When Damien approached me again, I suddenly didn’t feel safe anymore. All that was in my mind was that they would really kill me at the end of every thing and this might be after they’ve killed Sloan as well, or had rendered him into whatever it is that they’re working on.
"Are you alright?" He asked as he crouched beside me and I nodded, then I cleared my throat which instantly hurt.
"Y- thank you for saving me." I said to him but he only waved me off.
"It’s alright."
When he held his hand out, I took it and he pulled me up, steadying me when I swayed.
A frown settled over his face when he touched my forehead, then he was cussing as he faced his sister.
"See what you’ve caused? Now he’s burning up, thanks to you trying to kill him just because of unnecessary jealousy!" He snapped at his sister who pursed her lips and sighed.
"I- I didn’t realize he was really in on the mission, I thought he really liked Sloan!" She argued and Damien scoffed, a disappointed look on his face.
"Sloan again? How many times do I have to ask you to stop fixating on you? He doesn’t want you and he won’t ever." Damien bit out but his sister rolled her eyes as she walked past him.
"Don’t tell me what to do, and I already said I’ll get him. In no time, I’ll have him wrapped around my fingers. Perhaps I should have this slave serve him a love portion on my behalf?"
"You dumb blonde." Damien sighed.
"You don’t know that if you do that, the first person he’ll set his eyes on would be this slave, then he’ll fall in love with him. You didn’t think that far?"
The princess slowly shook her head. "Ah- yeah, I didn’t."
"I could tell." Damien said to her but this time she rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. I’ll end up making him fall for me, then I’ll have him wrapped around my fingers. Perhaps I should go visit him soon? I’ve been waiting for him to visit me first or send for me, but perhaps it’s time for me to put my seduction skills to good use."
"Whatever, sister. You’ll end up failing anyway." Damien snickered and I couldn’t agree more.
