CHAPTER 217: CHAPTER 216: HABIT IS A FRIGHTENING THING

Ye Anxin nodded, "Got it! I’ll wait here until Uncle comes back!"

"Mm! The hotel will deliver food to you later!" Mu Beiting nodded with satisfaction and then left with Pete.

After closing the door, Ye Anxin changed into casual clothes, poured herself a cup of tea, and stood by the window to continue admiring the beautiful view of Jiangcheng.

Ye Anxin didn’t know how she got through the night. All she knew was that she was so excited and blissfully tired, her eyelids heavy, but she couldn’t fall asleep!

After having the dinner sent by the hotel, she intended to take a short nap, but she tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.

She dared not stand by the window to gaze at the Jiangcheng nightscape because it was too beautiful. The endless riverside was lit up with colorful lights, and the Jiangcheng Bridge was bright with lights, forming a perfect scenic line beneath the beautiful night sky.

She was afraid that she couldn’t resist running out if she kept looking. She promised Uncle not to wander around, so she endured, not looking, not thinking, using sleep to numb herself!

But she still couldn’t fall asleep!

Helplessly, she took out her phone to watch a TV series, hoping to distract herself.

Time passed bit by bit, and in the absence of Mu Beiting’s return, Ye Anxin eventually succumbed to the call of slumber, closing her eyes and falling into a deep sleep.

When Ye Anxin awoke, it was already the next day, dawn breaking, and mist still lingering over the river.

Ye Anxin picked up her phone, intending to call Mu Beiting, when she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom.

Hearing this, Ye Anxin let out a breath of relief and put down the phone.

Not long after, the bathroom door opened, and Mu Beiting came out with a towel wrapped around him. Seeing Ye Anxin awake, sitting on the bed with her eyes still half-closed looking at him, he couldn’t help but walk over and ruffle her hair, "Did I wake you?"

Ye Anxin shook her head and honestly said, "No, I woke up because I had enough sleep!" Then she asked, "Uncle, did you just get back or just wake up?"

She remembered that when she went to sleep last night, there wasn’t that familiar embrace!

So, she hadn’t slept well all night and woke up early today!

Indeed, habit is a scary thing! Unknowingly, she had gotten used to Uncle’s embrace and liked the feeling of sleeping in his arms every night!

Without the familiar embrace, she felt unease the whole time!

She couldn’t even imagine what she would do in the future without Uncle in her life!

Mu Beiting said, "I just got back! I worked too late last night, afraid of waking you, so I took a nap at the office!"

"Oh!" Ye Anxin responded lightly, then concerned, said, "How could you sleep well at the office! Hurry and get some rest in bed! Don’t wear yourself out!"

Mu Beiting’s lips curled slightly, "Accompany me!"

"Okay!" Ye Anxin immediately agreed, then pulled Mu Beiting onto the bed to lie down, snuggling into his arms, finding the most comfortable position for herself.

Indeed, having this embrace made her feel at ease!

Even though she just woke up, once in his embrace, sleepiness hit her again.

"Sleep," Mu Beiting said in a hoarse, deep voice as he stroked Ye Anxin’s head in his arms.

Soothed by Mu Beiting’s magnetic voice, Ye Anxin felt her eyelids growing heavier, and soon she drifted into sleep.

Ye Anxin didn’t know how long she slept; she only knew it was a deep and stable sleep.

In the end, she woke up because of hunger!

When she awoke, Mu Beiting was nowhere to be seen!

Ye Anxin searched the whole suite and found no trace of Mu Beiting! Upon returning to the room, she discovered a note he left on the bedside table.

The note said he had gone to the office and instructed her to wait for him obediently!

Knowing how busy Mu Beiting was, Ye Anxin wasn’t surprised. She put away the note, went to the bathroom to freshen up, dressed, and walked to the living room. Before she could sit down, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Ye Anxin walked to the door and took a peek through the peephole!

Seeing that it was a hotel staff pushing a dining cart, Ye Anxin opened the door.

After pushing the cart into the suite, the staff left, and Ye Anxin sat in front of the TV, eating and watching TV.

Once she finished eating, the staff came back to take the dining cart away, leaving Ye Anxin feeling bored! She wandered around the room, here and there! Each time she approached the window and saw the beautiful view outside, there was a voice in her heart shouting, "Go out, go out, take a look!"

But remembering Uncle’s instructions, the voice in her heart grew weaker.

After nearly a day without any sign or call from Mu Beiting, Ye Anxin felt she was going to go crazy being cooped up in the room!

Just as Ye Anxin was bored to the point of wanting to scream, the doorbell rang again.

Ye Anxin looked through the peephole and saw Pete outside! Behind him stood an unfamiliar woman.

Ye Anxin quickly opened the door and anxiously asked, "Pete, has the company’s matter been resolved? When will Uncle come back! I’m so bored, really so bored! If I stay in this room any longer, I’ll go crazy! I should have brought a couple of books if I had known it would be this dull! Right now, every day feels like a year to me!"

Pete smiled lightly, "The boss truly knows his wife! The boss knew you’d be bored, but he can’t leave, so he specially sent Assistant Lee from the Jiangcheng branch to accompany you for a tour!"

Hearing she could finally go out, Ye Anxin’s eyes immediately sparkled, "Really!"

"Of course it’s true! To ensure the madam’s safety, four bodyguards were specially arranged!" He said, turning aside and pointing behind him.

Ye Anxin looked up and saw four men in neat suits standing in the corridor.

Each was dressed in black, wearing sunglasses, strong figures, unsmiling, with hands clasped behind their backs, just standing there!

If not for the rise and fall of their chests, Ye Anxin would genuinely think they were statues.

Ye Anxin’s mouth twitched, awkwardly saying, "Pete, why don’t you go back and tell Uncle that having Assistant Lee accompany me is enough! We don’t need bodyguards! Just look at those four bodyguards, they’re too conspicuous! Wherever I go with them, I guarantee the return rate would be 100%!"

Pete suppressed his laughter and replied with feigned seriousness, "No way, the boss said if the madam doesn’t take them, then she has to continue staying bored in the room!"
