CHAPTER 87: PREDESTINED (2)

He understood that his view of the world was limited, and if his father were here, he might have had a clue about the nature of the weapon.

"Do you know what kind of weapon it is?" Jaran asked, looking at the Windcrest Clan’s descendants besides him..

Kiran didn’t respond.

None responded to him because they also didn’t have an answer to that question.

Damn it! Just when he thought the battle would soon be over and victory was theirs, the Worst One had overturned the situation again.

Meanwhile, the feiry, feathered shield had already begun to peel away.

Ezekiel thrust his drill-like weapon forward.

WWHHIRRR!! WHHIIIRR!!!

ZZZZZZZZ!!!

It spun like a drill, piercing through the dissipating fiery, feathered shield.

CLANG!!!

Kaelis blocked his attack. She was surprise as she laid her eyes on the weapon the Worst one had attacked with.

CRANGGG!!

WWHHIRRR!! WHHIIIRR!!!

Sparks flew as the drill-like weapon grinded against the Dove Hurricane Red Sword.

Jaran noticed as Kaelis’s face twist in discomfort as her hands trembled from gripping the blade.

Suddenly, she lost her grip on the sword.

Ezekiel took advantage of the opportunity and twisted his wrist, knocking the sword out of Kaelis’s hands.

His momentum didn’t stop. The drill-like weapon pierced through her shoulder, tearing her combat uniform and her flesh.

"Aaarghhhh!!"

Suddenly, the drill-like weapon increased in length, thrusting Kaelis backwards.

Kaelis slammed into the ground, rolling until her battered body came to a sudden halt."ARGGHHHH!! !! I ADMIT DEFEAT!! I CONCEDE!!" She screamed out in pain, surrendering.

Ezekiel, who was about to lunge forward, stopped his attack.

Jaran’s heart sank.

"The winner of the duel is Ezekiel Zahara, third-ranked Magical Swordsman of Class Three!" Elric announced.

"Someone take the opponent off the stage and get her to the hospital quickly for treatment!"

Eight members of the Windcrest Clan rushed into the training platform’s inner circle. Four gathered around her in a protective circle and gazed at Ezekiel fiercely.

However, their trembling bodies and fear on their faces were impossible to hide.

Meanwhile, the others checked on Kaelis’s condition.

Two people helped her up, with her uninjured hand placed over the shoulder of one of them. They quickly collected her weapon and took her off the inner circle.

"I’m sorry. He’s more powerful than we had anticipated," Kaelis halted as she passed by Jaran and said, "Be careful."

She continued to move forward with others supporting her.

"Next!" The Worst One’s voice resonated across the stage.

Jaran’s heart shook.

"I’ll go," Kiran said, stepping forward.

"No. I’ll go. Since Julian and Kaelis had lost, it’s my turn to see just how powerful he is, and test if he has truly been holding back," Jaran responded, his trembling hand tightly gripping the handle of his sheathed blade.

Kiran halted, nodded and stepped back.

"Be careful," he advised.

Jaran didn’t respond. His heart raced as he nodded and stepped forward.

Jaran had always believed that power was predestined.

Those who could challenge destiny were few and in between, and should they emerge victorious, they would be stronger than even those who are stronger than the average awakener.

Jaran had learnt from records that whenever these people arrived, they were always a brilliant beacon of light that outshone all in their generation, stretching even deeper into the latter generations.

He had never read of anyone emerging victorious.

Because to challenge them was to challenge destiny herself, for they now stood as a force beyond destiny’s grasp.

Ezekiel...

Milas...

Ivory...

All three of them blocked his ascent to the top.

Jaran had never imagined that he would be the one to challenge destiny.

I wanted to use my iron sword to fight the entire battle, but the magic swords of the Windcrest Clan’s Descendants were too powerful.

Cracks had already begun to appear on its body, so I had quickly changed it to prevent it from shattering midway in battle.

I realised that I could now hold my own against a late-stage Rank One Magical Swordsman with my swordsmanship only.

With Spiral Fang, even if they utilised their Sacred Arts, I was confident that I could defeat them.

For opponents like Milas and Delilah-in-training, I was confident that I could achieve a similar result if I used my aura.

Note: Giving more than one or two consecutively lectures would trigger a bonus reward. ]

A note had popped up on the quest progression bar after I defeated Kaelis.

This made me even more certain that I had taken the right path by challenge all of the members of the Windcrest Clans at once rather than only challenging Jaran.

I pondered what kind of bonus it was since it didn’t specify.

I dispelled the status screen and looked at Jaran as he stepped into the inner circle.

Suddenly, Jaran turned to Elric and raised his hand.

I furrowed my brows at what his aim was.

"Go on. What is it?" Elric asked, seeing that Jaran’s gesture was directed at him.

Jaran pointed at Ezekiel and said, "I believe that he’s cheating."

Instantly, the crowd, which had been previously silent, exploded into an uproar.

My expression twisted slightly.

According to the law, as long as the rules of combat are upheld in an official duel, anything was permitted, from magic items, enchanted items, hidden weapons, alchemical pills, and so on.

Even if I wanted to use the Windflare beads, it wouldn’t be considered cheating because they were all part of my arsenal.

Only in an unofficial duel, where the goal was to test guage combat skills, were those things taken seriously and considered a form of cheating, as they could either harm their opponents or themselves.

This was why, after my duel with Ivory, which had left me gravely injured despite emerging victorious, others branded me a cheater, and the matter was taken very seriously.

There were only a few things considered cheating, which included sabotaging the opponent before the duel began, not participating but sending another person to do so, or rigging the duel.

However, I didn’t utter a word.
