CHAPTER 365: CHAPTER 84: SPECIALTIES FROM CHINA

Gold Grade Space was filled with the sound of an ever-flowing spring, and the air was rich yet not overwhelming with the fragrances of exotic flowers and fruits.

"Locke was not lying about one thing: the mutated spiritual power in the Underground Biopark is indeed abundant," Zhou Ziang sat cross-legged, very aware of the situation outside the space, including the terrifying roar Quinn had emitted.

The Underground Biopark was well concealed. When Locke and the others brought him in, they were prepared for two outcomes: to successfully absorb him or to eliminate him if they failed, using humans as fertilizer for the plants, which certainly isn’t very nice.

If Zhou Ziang died here, in this Underground Biopark that even the most advanced satellite systems could not detect, his death would probably go unnoticed.

In the moment Zhou Ziang turned to walk out the door, he thought of something—Locke’s recent reminder.

Locke was a methodical German. After two years of working together and sharing a bond as superpower users, he did not actually want Zhou Ziang to die here; quite the opposite, he wanted Zhou Ziang to escape from the Biopark.

Locke had once talked about his background. He wasn’t purely German—his grandfather had served in the Nazi Army during World War II and had been one of Hitler’s agents. After the war, his grandfather was executed, and Locke’s parents fled with him to the United States.

Throughout his education, Locke faced discrimination until he discovered his superpower and was recruited into the Meng Mountain group, which freed him from being ridiculed and scorned.

"Locke, you still don’t understand me," Zhou Ziang pressed the center of his forehead. No one is perfect. He was capable in every way, except for his terribly poor sense of direction. No matter how good his memory was, the Biopark was nothing but a botanical maze to Zhou Ziang without the ability to discern direction.

However, that wasn’t Zhou Ziang’s main concern—the safety of Zhou Qiang and his wife, far away in China, worried him more.

No matter how intricate the paths within the Biopark were, as long as he found a tall tree to climb, he could find his way back; but even if he managed to escape, what would be the point? He was no longer alone.

He was no longer the unfettered Zhou Ziang.

Meng Mountain might have branches in China, or perhaps they didn’t need any—they could just send a subordinate superpower user to deal with the defenseless couple of the Zhou family.

Any superpower beyond human explanation could cause panic among governments worldwide.

Conversely, if he were to compromise, it meant he would have to spend his whole life under the restraint of Meng Mountain and the American Government, living like Locke and the others, or like Quinn, who guarded the Biopark as if it were an enclosed petri dish.

He did not want that kind of life. Since he couldn’t hide, he had to face it head-on, but how to do so still required some tact—he knew brute force wasn’t going to solve anything.

Zhou Ziang sat down again with the corners of his mouth slightly raised, revealing a pleasing smile.

After a day and a night, despite Quinn’s exhaustive efforts and searching every corner of the Biopark, Zhou Ziang was nowhere to be found.

"The exit hasn’t shown signs of anyone leaving. That kid must still be in the Biopark," Quinn returned to their treehouse, the brown hair on his face slowly receding.

"Are you sure he hasn’t been devoured alive by one of those ’cuties’ in the park? He looks soft and tender—quite the delicacy," Celeste joked, though you could hear impatience in her voice.

As head of the Roster family, she really didn’t have the time to play a game of hide-and-seek with an unarmed young man.

"Locke, why are you still hesitating? Turn on your monitors," Celeste glanced at the time. Her watch showed it was nearly midnight, and though the Biopark maintained a state of daylight, the biopark creatures still followed their natural routines.

The creatures under Quinn’s control would mostly be resting at this time, so if Zhou Ziang chose to escape now, it would certainly be the best chance.

Locke had developed a special biological monitor called the spore monitor; by exploiting the reproductive cell abilities of fungi, it could rapidly penetrate the earth’s surface and spread throughout the entire surface of the Biopark.

Should anyone pass over the Biopark’s surface, the spore monitors would inevitably send feedback to the monitors in the treehouse, and at that point, even if Zhou Ziang tried to escape, he would have no chance.

"Celeste, don’t talk to me in a commanding tone," Locke, usually the most agreeable of the three, unexpectedly started to take a different tone with Celeste.
