CHAPTER 30: HUGE CRISIS (2)
"Duke, are you going to call him?" Halden asked, narrowing his eyes a little bit as he thought to himself. ’Has he succeeded?’
Sigh!
"Even though we shouldn’t disturb him, if the situation calls for it, we have no choice but to summon him." Cassian sighed and nodded his head.
The Tyran Crocodile’s eyes narrowed, looking at Cassian deeply for a moment. It sniffed the air, sensing that the human standing before it was not an ordinary knight. Even though the human’s rank was still at the Legendary-ranked Knight, it sensed a little bit of threat from him.
It then roared loudly, reverberating through the entire forest and making the Epic-ranked beasts kneel down. Nyxrael and the others felt the pressure and tried their best to resist, sinking their feet deep into the ground.
A few seconds later, all of the Legendary-ranked beasts moved together.
The first was a low-level legendary cow, its green-glowing horns curved like a blade, with armor that looked like it was made out of wooden bark covering its entire body. Vines writhed beneath its hooves with every step it took.
The second was a High-level Legendary Fire Lizard, its crimson scales radiated heat so intense that nearby puddles of water began to vaporize quickly.
The last and strongest out of the three was a Peak-level Water Hippopotamus with a massive body even among its kind.
Cassian’s gaze was calm, but the light within his golden eyes grew sharper. The moment the Wood Cow’s gaze shifted toward Nyxrael and the others, Cassian made his move.
Swoosh!
A radiant crescent of light burst from his sword, flying straight toward the Wood Cow. The blast hit the beast’s shoulder, tearing away chunks of wood-like flesh and scattering green blood.
Cassian raised his left hand, moving his palm in a taunting manner as he said coldly. "Don’t look elsewhere. All three of you... Come together at me."
The three beasts roared in unison. The sound was enough to shake the mountain range.
The fifteen Epic-ranked beasts that followed the Legendary trio began charging in James’s direction.
"Intercept as much as you can and leave the rest to the others behind." Gareth’s voice rang out as he, Nyxrael, Halden, and Corvin leaped into motion.
Nyxrael, Gareth, Halden, and the others intercepted the advancing beasts, halting nine of them in brutal collisions of blade and beasts. Gareth held three beasts on his own, while the other three were against two each.
The six Epic-ranked beasts charged straight toward James’ direction and would eventually fight against the 15 Platinum Knights guarding near the waterfall.
Steel clashed against claws, fangs, etc. The roars of beasts mixed with the shouts of men.
The three Legendary beasts surrounded Cassian in a loose formation as water raged, fire burned, and roots tore the ground apart.
The Fire Lizard was the first to attack. Its throat glowed red before a torrent of flame exploded outward as it used its [Infernal Torrent] skill, a beam of fire that melted everything in its path.
Looking at the incoming attack, Cassian instantly dodged as he used his (Flash Step) skill and vanished, leaving a trail of light that flashed through the flames.
When he reappeared behind the lizard, he directly swung his sword downward.
Boom!
The blade met its scales, slicing deep and spraying molten blood on the ground. The lizard roared, spinning and slamming its tail down, but Cassian had already disappeared again, reappearing to the side and slashing a crescent wave of light energy as he used his (Luminous Severance) skill.
The radiant slash collided with the beast’s flank, the explosion of light burning its scales black.
At this time, the Water Hippopotamus made a move. The ground trembled as it raised its mouth and roared, summoning a massive sphere of condensed water as it used its (Water Tidal Pressure) skill.
It released in a flash, and the entire field flooded in a single instant. The impact was like a tidal wave, obliterating everything within a hundred meters.
Cassian appeared in midair, drenched but unharmed. His boots glowed with light.
His gaze met the hippopotamus’s. The creature’s body was already glowing blue again, as it wasn’t done.
The Wood Cow joined in next. Its horns lit up with green light, and roots erupted from the ground like a forest of spears as it used its skill [Verdant Impalement].
The earth below Cassian turned hostile, the roots shooting toward him from all directions.
Cassian calmly raised his sword and murmured to himself, "Sixth Move—Unbroken Circle."
Light enveloped his body as he moved. Every motion connected seamlessly to the next as slashes, parries, sidesteps, and thrusts—each flowing into one another smoothly.
Every root that came near was sliced apart. Every attack from the beasts met the same fate. Cassian’s movements were so smooth that it was as if he wasn’t fighting at all, like he was just moving in an endless yet perfect rhythm.
The Wood Cow lowered its head and charged. In response, Cassian spun his blade in a full circle and met it head-on. His sword glowed brilliantly as he struck its horn.
Clang!
The horn shattered, the beast letting out a pained bellow.
At that exact moment, the Fire lizard’s claw burned with flames as it lunged forward. Cassian twisted his body midair and vanished as he used his (Flash Step) skill.
He then reappeared right above the lizard’s head and used another skill of his (Hallowed Leash).
Golden chains erupted from his hand, wrapping around the beast’s neck and limbs. The chains grew brighter as the seconds passed by, pinning the Fire Lizard in place.
The Lizard roared, flames bursting from its body as it tried to break free. The ground was scorched, and steam filled the air.
But Cassian’s expression didn’t change as he used his (Luminous Severance) skill.
He slashed his sword downward. The crescent of radiant energy tore through the air, colliding with the fire lizard’s chest and splitting it open.
The Fire Lizard screamed in agony, thrashing against the glowing chains, but it was a futile effort.
