CHAPTER 489: CHAPTER 489 : TIME TO REST

Upon his return to the Golden Dragon Palace, Zhang Fengxi was laid in the Silver Mist Pavilion to enable the palace physicians to take care of him.

After waking up from coma and fighting valiantly against the Demonic Realm, the Supreme General fell into another coma, one that lasted for days.

"The good news is that the Supreme General’s body is healing properly. No abnormalities detected with his meridians, all his organs are functioning well. The stab injuries are healing slowly, and the injuries from the lightning punishment too have stopped flaring up," the eldest physician said. He was a lot happier now that he did not have to share a grim prognosis with the Heavenly Emperor.

Alas, Xie Jianshen remained unimpressed.

"Then why is he still in a coma?" The Emperor glared at the poor physician, who had to swallow his nervosity many times before giving a reply.

"Y-your Majesty, the Supreme General is recuperating from severe injuries, certainly it will require some time before he opens his eyes again."

Xie Jianshen scoffed in response.

"He can still recuperate when he’s awake. This coma is rather disconcerting."

The three physicians exchanged nervous looks with each other. Surely the Heavenly Emperor would not do something as atrocious as forcing the Supreme General out of his coma again???

Xie Jianshen stared at Zhang Fengxi’s sleeping form for a while before he shook his head and turned on his heel.

Walking away, he only had one more instruction to give, "Take good care of him. Give me a daily report on his condition."

Once Xie Jianshen stopped bothering the Supreme General, a lot more people came to visit Zhang Fengxi.

Among them, his twin sons who were pondering out loud if they should accompany their father one day and accompany their mother another day.

There were also Wu Shenxia, Jiang Muchen, the Monkey King, and many other comrades/subordinates who came to take a look at the alpha’s condition.

Finally, there were the Longjing Palace Master and Mistress, the parents of said patient.

Every time they came, the Silver Mist Pavilion was turned into a performance stage. The Longjing Palace Mistress would throw herself at her son’s sick bed and howl dramatically, "My son, ahhhhhh my son!!! You are hurt so badly!"

Kneeling behind her, Zhang Zhiyuan would then rub his wife’s shoulders and whisper words of comfort into her ears.

The first day she did it, the palace physicians were moved to tears.

The fifth day she did it, the palace physicians had no more tears to shed. Instead, they offered the grieving palace mistress a cup of warm tea to keep her hydrated, and the palace master a cultivation pill to maintain his sanity.

Jiang Muchen and Wu Shenxia personally took Qiao Wei’s body back to the Human Realm and handed it over to Huang Taichen, his only disciple, and Bai Ling, his surviving shimei from Wushan Temple Sect.

Busy rebuilding the cultivation sects that fell victim during the war, the cultivators were busy every single day.

It especially applied to Bai Ling and Huang Taichen, who had to rebuild Wushan Temple Sect from the ground after Bai Siyang and Qiao Wei’s tragic demise

The two cultivators shed another torrent of tears when they saw Qiao Wei’s cold body.

"Shizun...!!!"

Huang Taichen threw himself across Qiao Wei’s body and wept bitterly.

"I had hoped to save Shizun somehow, but we were not able to find him anywhere, wuuuuu..."

Bai Ling threw herself against Qiao Wei’s neck and sobbed.

"Wei Wei... Wuuuuuu Wei Wei... I am so sorry. Sorry that you had to sacrifice yourself to save me and your stupid disciple. I hope that we will meet again. I promise to repay this debt to you in our next life!"

Jiang Muchen sighed.

A sad smile laced Wu Shenxia’s lips.

"Cultivator Qiao Wei’s contribution has been instrumental in tipping the tide of the war in the Heavenly Realm’s favor. The Heavenly Emperor himself bestowed him with an honorable badge."

The jade and golden badge, carved by Xie Jianshen personally, was handed out by Wu Shenxia to Huang Taichen and Bai Ling.

"I will hang this in our Wushan Temple Sect’s ancestral hall," Bai Ling sobbed while brushing her fingers against the meticulous carving. "He will forever be remembered for his heroic deeds."

Jiang Muchen threw one last glance at Qiao Wei’s corpse before he gave a curt nod and said, "We will take our leave. Good bye."

After being persuaded by Xie Junjie and Zhang Mingrui continuously, Xie Jianshen gave in to his nephews’ request.

Zhang Fengxi was thus taken back to Fuxi Palace, and laid next to Xie Jianyu in the mausoleum to recuperate.

Head Servant Zhou, Qingyun, and Mingyu couldn’t help but sigh deeply as they gazed upon the Crown Prince and the Crown Prince’s Consort, their eyes squeezed shut peacefully in their sleep.

"First, it was Master," Mingyu wept. "Now it’s His Highness. When will the chain of tragedy stop?"

"Shush, Mingyu!" Head Servant Zhou glared at the maid. "Do not speak nonsense. Master is going to return eventually, and His Highness is just recuperating from his many injuries. The First Demon King has already perished. Right now, both the Heavenly Realm and the Human Realm are in peace. Nothing else shall happen."

Both Mingyu and Qingyun flinched upon hearing about the First Demon King.

The demon ruler’s head, along with the heads of the lesser demon kings who failed to escape, were still hanging at the gate of the Golden Dragon Palace, making every palace visitor shriek from fright.

Their bodies were thrown into the Demonic Realm unceremoniously. It was unknown whether the demons cared to bury them or not. Demons were not known to treat each other well, in life or death.

Having waited with the Goddess of Fate and Destiny while Xie Junjie kicked some ass during the war, Zhang Mingrui was very dissatisfied with himself.

"It must be because I have been lazy with my studies," the little tiger grumbled.

"I am going to work harder at class!" He announced soon after, making his grandfather and grandmother burst into happy tears.

And then, the tiger boy turned to his dragon brother and said, "Junjie, from now on, you don’t have to do my homeworks anymore. You only have to let me copy yours!"

"....."

A round of silence followed.

Zhang Zhiyuan went to take another cultivation pill, lest he encounter qi deviation in his old age.

Lady Song swooned to the side, with her maids crying for her in concern.

Xie Junjie heaved a long sigh and rejoiced in the little comfort of not having to write two homeworks anymore.
