Dance Of The Dragons
Chapter 62 : The Importance Of The Face
CHAPTER 62: CHAPTER 62 : THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FACE
Liu Wenyuan was punished again, and this time the punishment was a lot more severe than before.
Xie Jianyu sat in a daze while the maids were busy cleaning and treating his wounds.
His Imperial Father was not wrong.
A spirit companion did act according to its master’s emotions.
For example, when the master was happy, the spirit companion would jump up and down from joy.
If the master was sad, the spirit companion would probably shed tears.
"Ugh!"
Tears sprang to Xie Jianyu’s eyes when a maid pulled a piece of cloth from the wound on his arm. While going back to the Golden Dragon Palace, his wound dried up and the torn clothes ended up sticking to his wound.
"Ah... this subject is sorry!!!"
Xie Jianyu turned to look at a frightened maid.
"It was nothing," he said. "You don’t have to apologize."
"How clumsy!" an elder maid reprimanded the first one. "You need to soak His Majesty’s arm in water first to loosen up the sticky clothes."
"Y-yes! I am sorry, Big Sister!"
Xie Jianyu closed his eyes.
Initially, he thought that the wolf was about to attack his father. But then, he quickly discovered that the target had been him all along.
Why did Liu Wenyuan’s spirit companion attack him?
Liu Wenyuan always acted so meek and gentle.
It was hardly conceivable how he ended up inciting his spirit companion to attack anyone.
But why him?
He didn’t do anything wrong to Liu Wenyuan.
Did he?
A shadow of doubt crept into Xie Jianyu’s heart.
You did, a traitorous voice spoke up.
You were getting too close to his alpha.
Of course, he got mad...
But he never intentionally...
Xie Jianyu frowned.
He spent more time with Jiang Muchen.
Zhang Fengxi was just a fellow alpha. A classmate. Nothing more than that.
There was no reason for Liu Wenyuan to get jealous. Anyway, the lessons at the Crystal Jade Pavilion already ended. He and Zhang Fengxi did not have any excuse to meet up in the future. Hopefully, this would be enough to disperse the jealousy in Liu Wenyuan’s heart.
"Little Yu."
Xie Jianshen came to the Golden Dragon Palace as soon as he heard the news.
"Big Brother..."
Xie Jianshen pinched his younger brother’s chin between his thumb and forefinger.
His face morphed into a mask of rage when he saw the unsightly scars across Xie Jianyu’s face.
"What have you all been doing???" he barked at the maids. "Why are you not attending to the Crown Prince’s face???"
The maids were shaken. The arm was torn up from the little wolf’s bite. It was obviously more serious than a few scratches on Xie Jianyu’s face. So why were they scolded again?
Xie Jianyu shot his elder brother a meek smile.
"Big Brother, can you help redress the wound on my face?"
Xie Jianshen scoffed.
"Out, all of you!" he barked, and the maids scattered away immediately.
The Shuiran Palace Mistress’ facial expression softened when he was alone with Xie Jianyu in the room. He gently wiped off the blood from Xie Jianyu’s face and spread an ointment meticulously over the scars.
A soft sigh escaped Xie Jianshen when he looked at the hideous marks on his younger brother’s face.
"Little Yu, our faces are important to us."
Xie Jianyu shook his head.
"Alphas bear scars like medals of honor."
Only that he was not an alpha.
Xie Jianshen’s heart felt stuffy. He pulled his younger brother into a hug.
"Little Yu, your brother and father have pushed you into this life. Do you hate us?"
Xie Jianyu circled Xie Jianshen’s back with his intact arm.
"No. I can never hate Imperial Father and Big Brother."
Xie Jianshen smiled through tears. He bandaged Xie Jianyu’s cheek, and then he continued treating the latter’s arm.
A frown appeared between his brows when he looked at the wound.
"Had it been a grown wolf, you might have lost your arm. What is with this elevated level of agitation?"
"Liu Wenyuan does not think favorably about me."
Xie Jianshen arched an eyebrow at his brother.
"Oh, really? He thought favorably about you when he thought that you wanted to marry him."
"That was in the past."
Xie Jianshen scoffed.
"Impudent, ignorant little omega. I will go to teach him a lesson."
Xie Jianshen rose to his feet, but Xie Jianyu prevented him from leaving.
"Big Brother, Imperial Father already imprisoned him along with his spirit companion for the night. That is enough punishment, I believe."
Xie Jianshen grabbed Xie Jianyu’s chin and tilted it upward.
"He ruined your face. You might end up with scars! I am not satisfied with just letting him reflect behind bars for a night. I am going to tear his face apart!"
"Big Brother, please. He is going to be married soon."
Xie Jianshen let out a frustrated sigh.
"Zhang Fengxi again? Haven’t you done enough for him?"
Xie Jianyu lowered his gaze. He squeezed Xie Jianshen’s hand and tugged at it a few times. His action was reminiscent of his three-year-old self.
"Big Brother, haven’t you secured Longjing Palace as our ally? What will they think if we refuse to bail their future palace mistress out of prison?"
"They will think that they should educate their omegas so that this kind of incident never besmirches their good palace name!"
"... Big Brother..."
"Enough." Xie Jianshen yanked his hand free from Xie Jianyu’s face and held it up in front of his face.
"Little Yu, let’s go. I will take you back to Fuxi Palace."
"... Yes, Big Brother."
The siblings walked down the steps of the Golden Dragon Palace. A cloud carriage was already waiting to take them away. Other than the cloud carriage, there was also Zhang Fengxi, who was kneeling in front of the palace gate.
He was startled to see the Xie siblings. The siblings showed differing reactions when they saw him.
Xie Jianyu’s eyes widened in astonishment.
Xie Jianshen’s eyes narrowed in distaste.
