Danmachi: The Sign In System!
Chapter 205: She found joy in providing for him
Perhaps due to the repeated attacks on the Demeter Familia, the members at their manor outside Orario were in a state of panic.
Upon seeing Orsted's arrival, they visibly relaxed.
They knew the Demeter familia's survival was thanks to Orsted. His magic items had protected them from the previous assault.
The masked attacker's identity was unknown, but his power surpassed that of a first class adventurer.
Without Orsted's items, the Demeter familia would likely have fallen.
Seeing Orsted now, the members breathed a collective sigh of relief, as if their anchor had arrived.
"Since you got here, the kids have calmed down a lot," Demeter said with a smile, walking with Orsted through the manor's courtyard.
The change in her familia's demeanor was obvious, and it pleased her.
The attacks had cast a heavy gloom over the manor, but now, with Orsted's presence, the atmosphere felt brighter.
They soon reached the living room of the manor's villa.
"Orsted, is there any way to deal with that person?" Demeter asked, her voice tinged with worry.
"They didn't just attack the manor, they targeted my members outside too. If not for the teleportation items you gave us, my children would've died."
"If this continues, the familia's operations will grind to a halt."
Orsted frowned.
"With my current strength, I'm not afraid of them, but the attacker has a cloning ability. I can't tell which is the real body and which is a clone."
Orsted had always been wary of Filvis.
Her strength made it uncertain whether Excalibur Proto could defeat her in one strike.
Even if its five seals could destroy the demi spirit's possessing the jewel fetus, Orsted wasn't sure it could eliminate Filvis herself.
Different beings had different body structure.
The jewel fetus, host to the Demi Spirit, wasn't physically robust.
Moreover, Filvis was a creature, not a Demi Spirit .
She wouldn't simply stand and take an attack.
Another issue was distinguishing filvis's true form by her strength.
If it was her real body, Orsted could fight directly, confident in his abilities even without Excalibur.
But if it was a clone, destroying it might alert her, allowing her to vanish into hiding.
Unlike adventurers, whose gods could be forced to ascend, locking their abilities unless a new god unlocked them.
But Filvis was a creature, outside that system.
Forcing her god to ascend wouldn't strip her power.
However, Orsted realized that sending Dionysus back to the heavens could disrupt things.
"Demeter, what if I find a way to secretly send Dionysus back to the heavens?" Orsted asked, considering the plan's feasibility.
The jewel fetus was a scheme between Dionysus and Evilus.
Without Dionysus, the plan might falter, even if it didn't collapse entirely.
Orsted was curious how things would unfold.
"Dionysus left Orario with his Familia to wander elsewhere," Demeter said, her face clouding with sorrow.
Her investigation into Dionysus had put her Familia in this danger.
"Did he sense the risk?" Orsted wondered, frowning after a moment's surprise.
"I don't know," Demeter replied, shaking her head.
She was curious too but had no answers.
Orsted didn't know either, but he was certain Dionysus was scheming in secret.
The Jewel Fetus plan was too important for him to abandon.
He might appear to have left Orario but could still be lurking, avoiding detection.
"Forget it. Let's not overthink it," Orsted said, shifting focus.
"Do you have any materials here? I'll craft a magic item to sense attacks instantly, so I can rush over."
Demeter's eyes lit up. "Yes, plenty. I've been collecting materials for your magic items. I'll have them brought over now."
Since learning Orsted needed materials, she'd had her familia gather them, always ready for him. Even without his request, she'd planned to offer them.
Compared to material wealth, her familia's safety was important and Orsted was their lifeline.
Plus, she found joy in providing for him, though she wasn't sure why.
"Good. Bring them here. I'll work on it now. It shouldn't take long," Orsted said with a nod.
