Ariel was confused, of course. She couldn’t fathom why the problemy with Jayson, considering they were already divorced.

She took a moment to calm herself before asking, “What exactly is the problem?”

The sharply dressed man looked slightly surprised by her reaction. He hesitated, then pulled out a file. ”

Ms. Walker, in the materials you submitted, you indicated that you are divorced. However, after a detailed

review, we’ve confirmed that you are still listed as being married.” 2

“That’s impossible. There must be some mistake,” Ariel said instinctively.

It sounded absurd. Their divorce was documented in ck and white. Something had clearly gone wrong

    in the process.

“No, it’s urate. You will need to provideplete information about your spouse,” the man continued.

Spousal information was a critical part of the record. It couldn’t be left iplete. They had to verify

everything and confirm that all necessary details were correct.

Ariel’s heart sank sharply, and her normallyposed face froze for an instant.

She nced at the documentation they handed her. It inly stated she was still married.

They reviewed this kind of information regrly, so such errors shouldn’t happen.

    That meant…

Her lips went pale, and she gripped the stack of documents tighter without even realizing it. “Alright, I’ll review everything thoroughly and get back to you as soon as possible.”

“Okay. Be careful with these details, Ms. Walker.” The man found it strange, yet he stuck to procedure and

    said nothing more.

Maurice looked at Ariel with a puzzled look. “How could this happen? You’re a special case, Ariel, and an exception. It’s best to handle things carefully. But don’t worry. Just make sure it’s corrected quickly.”

Ariel managed a tight smile, betraying no shock.

Once out of the office, her heart pounded, and a swirl of inexplicable emotions pressed on her chest. She needed to figure out exactly what was going on. Especially now, at such a critical moment, there could be no mistakes.

Ariel took a deep breath and tried to calm herself as much as possible before heading to the vital records

    office with her ID.

At the counter, she handed over her ID. “Excuse me, I’d like to check my marital status.”

The clerk seemed a little surprised at the request but processed it anyway. After checking, they said, “Ms. Ariel Walker, right? Our records show you are currently married.”

Ariel’s expression froze inch by inch. A chill ran straight to the top of her head.

She sat there dumbfounded for several long moments before slowly retrieving her ID.

As she got into the car under the zing sun, her ears rang relentlessly.

    Why?

After collecting herself, she dialed Jayson with a cold expression. This was a matter between the two of them, after all. Of course such an absurd situation needed to be rified.

But his phone was off, leaving her frustrated. She forced herself to stayposed and decided to return

    home first.

On the way, she called Jayson’s secretarial department.

The secretary’s tone immediately became respectful when he recognized her. “Mrs. Larkin, Mr. Larkin is on a business trip to Heincove. If it’s urgent, you may contact Mr. Beck.”

Ariel exhaled slowly inside the car. “Alright, please give me his number.”

She quickly dialed Arthur. Fortunately, he answered. “This is Ariel.”

b“/bYes, Mrs. Larkin? Mr. Larkin is in a meeting with an important client.” 1

Ariel didn’t care about his big meeting. Her voice was cold. “Wherever he is, make sure he knows I need

    him back immediately.”

Arthur hesitated but eventually agreed. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Larkin. I’ll find a chance to inform Mr. Larkin.”
