CHAPTER 71: DAMSEL IN DISTRESS

This time, Mary did not show any signs of anger at being stopped like this. Instead, she gave a quick look to the young woman.

The girl had brown hair and red eyes. Her skin was very pale but not on the same level as the Aurer before her. But unlike Mary, she did not have a frail appearance.

Even under the sharp, chilling presence of Mary, the young woman managed to stand with an indifferent expression on her face.

She was wearing a regal gown that looked both elegant and expensive. Several students of noble background recognized the young woman upon one glance, but there were a few who knew nothing about her, including Jinn.

"Evelyn Little, are you sure this is what you want to pursue? You will not have a chance to change your majors in the middle." Mary asked calmly after reading what the young woman had filled in on her form.

The girl named Evelyn nodded blankly. "I am sure. There is no need to waste time over what I have already decided."

Her words sounded cold to the rest, but Mary did not think much about it. She simply took the form and nodded in acceptance. "Very well, you can go to the same reception desk where you showed your acceptance letter and get your room assigned."

And just like that, Evelyn turned around and left the room without uttering a word, dragging a huge suitcase almost the same size as her along without much trouble.

Jinn watched her back with a thoughtful look on her face.

"That is the young lady of the Dunn family!" some could not help but whisper among themselves, and they were loud enough for Jinn to hear their talk.

"I heard she is also the same as Lady Dunn, blessed by the god of the end. There are only a few of them in the city, or so I have heard."

"I am done with my form as well." Mary’s feet froze once more. For a moment, Jinn saw her hair flashing with blue-green lights, almost twitching.

She turned around to see a tall young man with sharp features and a handsome appearance walking up to her in sharp strides. His hair shimmered with a blue hue, the same as his eyes.

She snatched the form from his hands impatiently. After glancing at the boy, she ignored him and looked around the room, saying, "If anyone else is getting impatient, give me your forms now, or I will leave."

The dreadful chill in her voice made many hesitate, but there were still a few brave souls who stood up from their seats to give her the form.

’Guess their parents or someone in their family had already told them about this.’ Jinn thought to himself as he stood up from his seat.

Carrying the suitcase along, he walked up to Mary Dunn and extended his form once she was free from the rest.

"Do you really want to do this?" Aurer Mary asked with a slight surprise. Her eyes fixed on Jinn, watching his reaction like a hawk. ’Either he is really dumb or really intelligent.’

She glanced back at the form to read the name, Jinn Alcott. Right below his information, he had written the names of the three courses he wanted to take part in.

Ruin Explorer

Battle-Oriented

Intelligence Gathering

Out of the three courses, he had marked the third option as his major course.

’This address—he is an orphan.’ Her surprise only grew with each passing second.

Jinn smiled in response before asking, "Can I join the classes of other courses? I am sure there are some things they can offer that do not require me to have their respective powers."

"Like?" Mary asked calmly, but there was a strange, curious light in her eyes.

"Basic treatment of injuries in a healing course or something like that."

Mary hummed as she took the form from him before saying, "Like I told everyone before, you can join any course or take any class as long as you can manage your timetable, but if you ever get caught skipping classes, there will be consequences."

With that warning, Mary finally left the room while glaring at the seated students as if daring them to stop her.

’So, I just have to be smart enough to not get caught.’ A devious look appeared in Jinn’s eyes as he followed the lady out of the room.

While Mary disappeared in some corner, Jinn walked to the reception to ask about his allotted room.

"You want the private room as well?" The woman sitting behind the table asked with a professional smile, which fell as soon as Jinn shook his head.

"Name?" She asked dryly. When she saw Jinn’s face, some of her original energy returned.

"Jinn Alcott."

After flipping through the pages, she slid a key towards him with a metal tag attached to it.

369

After a quick glance at the number, he looked and asked, "Where..."

Words had not even completely slipped from his mouth before the woman enthusiastically spoke, pointing in a corner behind him.

"Walk straight and you will see the elevators on the far end of the hallway; if you want to use stairs, they are right next to it."

Jinn thanked the receptionist before following the direction she gave him.

Jinn stopped before the closed doors of the elevator and raised his head to the needle, which was slowly moving around the dial, showing that it had barely reached the first floor.

’What a hassle.’ Instead of waiting for the elevator, Jinn decided to take the stairs. He turned to the side and stopped again to see a familiar face standing before the stairs, staring at them like they were her greatest enemy.

"Evelyn, right?" Jinn broke the invisible war with his words. "I am Jinn, Jinn Alcott."

The girl named Evelyn turned to face him with the same blank expression. "Yes?"

"Your suitcase is in my way." Jinn pointed at the huge suitcase the girl had placed on the ground, which had covered most of the area before the stairs.

Evelyn slowly turned her head to her luggage and nodded calmly, "I apologize. I wanted to take the stairs to avoid something, but I cannot carry the suitcase up."

’No wonder you were dragging it like a sack of potatoes before. what is she avoiding? is she hiding from someone?’ Jinn face-palmed internally. ’Why would you even bring something so big if you cannot carry it?’

Jinn himself only brought enough suits and clothes that would last him for a week. Besides, they were expected to wear the uniform on campus.

"You can take the elevator." Jinn pointed at the metal door with his thumb.

"It’s smelly." To his surprise, Evelyn refused his offer instantly.

’Not like you have any other choice, girl. Besides, won’t climbing so many stairs make you sweaty?’

Jinn wanted to say something, but the words were drowned in his throat when he saw her eyes suddenly brightening.

"How about you help me carry it?"

"What? No?" Jinn instantly refused her offer. "Get a staff member or someone else from the academy to do it?"

Just looking at the long stairs and the heavy bag lying on the ground, he felt a wave of tiredness washing over him.

But despite his unwillingness, the pale girl seemed inclined to have his help.

"I will carry your bag?"

"No, I can carry it myself. Thank you very much."

Evelyn pursed her lips and asked with a strained voice. "What if I give you 100 kals along with carrying your luggage?"

Now Jinn turned to be silent. He had a guess that she might offer him money, but he never thought it would be this much.

Now between money and the heavy luggage, Jinn’s broke ass was really conflicted for the first time.
