Chapter 45: Chapter 45Jarod saw a chance to take out Aaron, and he took it.

The compartment had very few people from the start, and there were none in the walkway. The cabins prevent not only others from listening to what’s going on inside, but they also work in reverse.

When inside, they can’t hear what’s going on the outside.

As long as it was a surprise attack, no matter what. Jarod believed that this would be the perfect chance for him to complete the mission.

Jarod has to complete the mission, or else there will be consequences for failing to do so. The organization never likes someone who can’t complete the mission that they were assigned to.

Aaron was placed at the bottom of the list. So, even if he missed the target, the consequences for failing to complete the mission would not be so bad but in Jardo’s case, there was a problem.

Jarod failed a mission not long ago, and if he fails again, it will not end well for him, which he is sure about. So, for him, this is a mission that he can’t fail.

He could clearly see the signs of what he would have to face if he failed the mission.

First, he was given a target who was at the bottom of the list. He was only made onto the list because he ended up as the top ranker of the alliance exam. If not, no one would have cared about his existence.

As a Death Mage, his limit would be Rank-6. If he tries to reach Rank-7, he will die. This was something everyone knew.

So, it could be seen how low of a priority he is. To be assigned to take out such a low priority target means the organization doesn’t trust you much.

Second, he was assigned with Sarah as his partner. She is very smart and he knows that fact very well, but she was a newbie who only joined the organization a few months ago.

This is her first field assignment.

If they assigned him to be her overseer, then that would have been okay but she was his partner on this mission. Sёar?h the N??eFire.ηet website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Jarod wanted to rectify that and to show the organization that he was still very useful. So, when the chance appeared to take out the target, he took it.

    ---

"What the hell?" Aaron internally screamed when he saw the man pull a dagger at his head.

"I can’t die. If I die, who will take care of my parents?"

"Think, Aaron, think. No, the dagger is almost near".

Aarron, who was thinking about saving himself, instinctively blocked the attack with his hands as a defence shield, but they were not exactly a shield.

The dagger pierced his right hand.

    -100 HP

    "Aaaarghhh", Aaron screamed in pain.

"What the hell? One attack took away 100 HP and that means, he has to attack me nine more times with that kind of damage to eliminate me", Aaron screamed inside his mind.

Aaron was a cautious person, who never took unnecessary risks while levelling up. It was the reason why he levelled up slow even with his skeletons and 10xEXP bonus.

Maybe because he has the bonus that he thought that he didn’t need to take risks and can level up slowly but be always at the top. This was his first time, when he actually faced danger. So, he was a little late in response.

Instead of using his power, he used his hands as defence and paid the price for that.

"I can’t let that happen. Skeletons...I need to summon my skeletons from the Undead Space".

Aaron immediately summoned five of his skeletons and all of them were warrior wit swords as weapons.

He wanted to summon more skeletons, but the walkway was narrow. Having more skeletons would be a waste as not all can attack at the same time.

Skelton Mages and Archers can fight from long distance but mages could burn the train if they use their magic here. Archers, well, the distance was not too far away and the attacker can easily near them without someone holding him back.

It means, Aaron may have to sacrifice his skeletons for the archers to cause damage from far but it wasn’t necesaary.

In this narrow path, the swords are the only useful weapon.

"Wait a minute, I forgot about the ghosts", Aaron muttered after a few seconds.

Ghosts use magic from far but they are not physical attacks. Usually, ghosts can attack minds and souls. That was their forte.

While his skletons were stalling him, he used his skill to summon ghosts.

    [Summon Ghosts]

Soon, five ghosts were summoned from the nether. It drained a lot of mana from him.

He was supposed to summon them last night and after that go to sleep, which would be very useful to recover mana faster, without external help, but that he didn’t do.

He spent most of the night with his parents, as the last night would be last night he would be with them in the next four years. After that, he forgot to summon them and went to sleep.

He didn’t even remember, that he had a new skill and that needs an upgrade and summoning. Now he had to create new ghosts in a battle, he came to know the mistake that he made.

Summoning costs him mana and if he was ever caught with low mana, that would be it for him.

The man was stronger than him but luckily, the walkway was narrow and his skeletons were blocking his path to Aaron.

Once the ghosts appeared, Aaron commanded them to attack the man and they did, just that.

    "AAaaarrrghhh...s...sss..ttt..ooppp...iii...ttt", the man screamed.

He wanted to tear his mind due to the pain he was suffering from but he was held down by the skeletons. He pushed them back, it was already late.

The burden was too much for him tobear and he lost his consciousness.

    ---

After a short fight, Aaron came out victorious in the end.

The reason behind that were the ghosts. The man may be stronger than Aaron but five skeltons were holding him down while the ghosts attacked his mind.

The man maybe strong but he never expected mind attacks and paid the price for that.

Though Aaron won, he got a stab wound on his hand, which he got when he tried to protect himself from the first shot that the man took.

The wound was very deep and kept bleeding.

First he needs tp take of this bleeding and after that, the uncouncious attacker.
