Chapter 48: Chapter 48Aaron returned to his cabin a minute after leaving the officer’s room. When he returned, he saw that Samantha was pacing inside the cabin, clearly waiting for him to return.

The moment he stepped inside, "How did it go?" she asked him.

Aaron told her what exactly went down with the officer.

She frowned when she learned about the matter with the guard officer. The guard officer was someone who failed to reach higher ranks and would probably not attain in the future.

She has seen people like that officer. Someone who is frustrated that they can’t gain anything in the world and projects their issues onto others.

The officer was clearly not satisfied with his life and was taking that frustration on Aaron, the Death Mage who reached the top rank in the entire alliance. For the officer, Aaron is not someone who can reach Rank-7 or higher in his life, and the officer can make fun of him as much as he can without facing any consequences now nor in the future.

The privileges that a Rank-7 enjoys vary from what a Rank-6 awakener enjoys. Though it was just a single rank in difference, there is a mountain of difference between these two ranks.

Upgrading from Rank-5 to Rank-6 appears as a simple task compared to upgrading to Rank-7 from Rank-6. This was because, the difficulty increases by a lot. The task issued and region that the task takes one would be very much related to the profession that they awakened.

Sometimes, these areas would be inaccessible due to various reasons, making it almost impossible for people to complete their Rank-7 mission and reach rank-7 successfully. Also, with every rank up, there would be a change in the number of FSPs and SPs gained.

At Rank-0, for every level up, one would gain +5 FSP and 2 SP. At Rank-1, it doubles to +10 FSP and 4 SP per level, which doubles again to +20 FSP and 8 SP/ level at Rank-2.

It continues similarly as +40 FSP and 16 SP att Rank-3, +80 FSP and 32 SP at Rank-4, +160 FSP and 64 SP at Rank-5 and finally, +320 FSP and 128 SP at Rank-6.

Thinking like that, it was supposed to reach +640 FSP and 256 SP per level at Rank-7, but that won’t be the case for everyone.

From Rank-7, there is a grading system. The better the results of the mission used, the better the rewards would be.

The FSPs and the SPs gained would be multiplied by a factor depending on how well you did during your mission. So, if someone gains a factor of 2, then the actual gains per level would be +1280 FSPs and 512 SPs per level until they reach the peak of Rank-7.

There is no negative factor. Even if the mission didn’t go too well, as long as the mission was completed, they would at least get the minimum of +640 FSP and 256 SP per level. This is why Rank-7 and above can be seen as something great, but also, reaching such great heights would be very difficult to achieve.

The difficulty of Rank-7 would be very high for Death Professionals when compared to other professionals.

The guard officer should know this well, and it was the reason why he felt that Aaron may not have a chance to do anything to him.

Rank-6 may be powerful, but only Rank-7 and above would have true influence. At the moment, Aaron is just a student with no influence, while the guard works for the alliance.

Even if in the future, when Aaron reaches Rank-6, unless they face each other in a deserted place, there is no way that Aaron can do anything without facing consequences later on.

So the bitter man who couldn’t achieve his dreams mocked Aaron to feel relief in his heart.

This was something Samantha saw too many times and understood the situation better than Aaron, but it is not her place to teach Aaron regarding the matters. Also, there was something else she needed to do.

It was more important to her than anything else.

    ---

Samantha kissed him on Aaron lips suddenly.

This was not an action that she dared take lightly. She originally wanted to use the things that she did with Aaron as leverage to lift herself higher in the future.

It was not her original plan. She wanted to introduce the untainted boy to the world of pleasure and thereby control him. When Aaron took control of a situation where he prioritised his own pleasure regardless of how the other one felt, she had to abruptly end that plan.

She wanted to salvage it after calming down, but what she saw later changed her mind.

Aaron used his summons to defeat a professional who might be good at close-range combat. Moreover, from what she just heard, the man was an assassin, someone who can easily kill someone who was good at close-range combat.

It meant that Aaron could become Rank-6, no doubt about it, as long as there was no high-ranking enemy targeting him.

As long as Aaron reaches Rank-6, she can have the life she always wanted.

Samantha was just a Rank-2 Appraiser.

Though Appraisers are important, they still don’t have enough power or influence in the society. They can only work for someone.

Samantha didn’t. She chose to start her own business but it was not an easy job to do so.

In the beginning, she believed that with her profession’s help, she could make her company big. With a profession like that, there is no way that fake products would pass through the company. So, she invested everything that she had into the company she founded, which she later learned was a huge mistake.     No one likes competition, especially wealthy ones.

Appraisers like her are supposed to work for these wealthy ones only to benefit them and them only. It would be especially true if anyone has targeted them.

    It was true for Samantha.

She has an admirer, more like a stalker, who is wealthy and determined to get Samantha at any cost.
