Chapter 63: Chapter 63When people introduce themselves, they sometimes tend to give their full name and sometimes only the given name, without mentioning their last name. This depends on the situation and the people they were introducing themselves to.

Normally, to strangers that they just met and would almost likely not see again, people would only tell their given names, not their last names, unless it was some obnoxious young master who wants to flaunt their house name so that they can do whatever they want to without facing any consequences.

Since Erika had introduced herself using her full name, she expected him to do the same, but when he didn’t, that surprised him.

"Maybe his last name was somethingweird", she thought as she moved on.

There are many names, including some house names, that are weird to spell. So, she didn’t think much about that. In time, she would know his last name if it was meant to be. There was no need to think much regarding that.

"Oh, nice to meet you. Where are you from?" she asked him.

This time, it was Aaron’s turn to be surprised. He thought that even though he only said his given name to her, she would be able to recognize him but she didn’t.

As the top ranker of the alliance, his name and face were plastered all over the news that day. It was why Samantha recognized him on the train, and instead of fellow passengers who shared the train cabin, she decided to become partners who shared their bodies with each other.

Aaron thought, though this like that won’t be happening, something should have happened, but it didn’t, which surprised him.

He understood one thing. Being the topper of the academy may appear to be a good thing, but it is not. It would only give 15 minutes of fame, but enemies that he has never met before. Sёar?h the N?vel(F)ire.nёt website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Now he understood that type of fame wouldn’t stand long. He thought that he almost became paranoid for no reason at all.

After that assassination attempt on the train, he started to see everyone under scrutiny. He knew troubles may find him for reaching the top rank, but the benefits are too tempting to let that go, and that almost killed him.

He was afraid that there might be more attempts in the future but now he was beginning to think that all those worries were for naught.

Aaron thought all that but failed to think that Erika simply forgot the top ranker, especially as he didn’t mention his full name.

Even though that was the case, it ended up as a good thing for him. Instead of being paranoid with every person he meets, he can be a bit free as he used to be.

How can one be able to make any friends while being paranoid about being someone after your life?

    It’s almost impossible.

He may have introduced himself to Erika, but that was just out of politeness.

    ---

"So, Aaron, where are you from?" Erika asked him.

"I am from Rock City", he replied, "and you?"

"I am from Crystal City", she replied.

"Oh, wow", Aaron exclaimed in surprise.

He knows Crystal City, as do many people in the alliance, unlike Rock City, where he is from.

Rock City is just a Tier-1 city, while Crystal City is a Tier-8 city and is also home to Luminar Academy, one of the top five academies in the entire alliance.

Crystal City is more prosperous and luxurious when compared to Dusk City home to Dusk Academy. Though similar to Crystal City, with the presence of a top five academy, it should have reached Tier-8 city status, but it didn’t because of certain conditions around Dusk City.

"My profession was Darkborne Assassin", Erika introduced her profession, breaking the amazement expression that Aaron had on his face.

Normally, people won’t end up telling their secrets during their first conversations, but for some reason, Erika felt that she could trust the boy. It was the only reason why she even introduced her full name when she started to speak with him.

As a Darborne Assassin, she can feel whether others are trustworthy or not. She didn’t know why that was so. It was a new profession that appeared in the data, never having appeared before. So, no one knows much about it.

Many assumed it was the same as Shadow Assassin as the skills appeared to be the same as them, like Dark Stealth and Dark Strike, which are similar in name to Shadow Stealth and Shadow Strike of Shadow Assassin.

Of course, they were not idiots. They estimated that it may be an upgraded or downgraded one but they were very far away from the truth, at least, that’s what Erika felt about her profession.

Whenever she was near someone, she could feel whether they were trustworthy or not. She checked it in other ways and found it to be true.

With Aaron she felt the trust similar to that she felt with her parents. She didn’t know him before. So, there were no feelings or thoughts about him that were deciding about the trustworthiness.

This feeling was because of her profession, which she was sure about. So, she decided to become acquainted with him for now.

"Oh, cool. I am a Death Mage", Aaron told her in return.

Erika rubbed her chin for a while, thinking about something but couldn’t remember what it was. Since she couldn’t remember, she just pushed that thought away for now.

Instead of thinking about something that she can’t remember, she decided to engage in conversation with Aaron.

Unlike many, she never looked down on Death Professionals, as they are deadly in their own way. Similar to other professions, they can bring down disasters onto the enemies.

She believed that they were nerfed as they could become the most powerful professionals with none to counter them if there were a bunch of them who reached Rank-9.

It was not just her opinion but of a few who reached the top who came to understand the fact. It was kept as a secret though, only known to a very few, fearing that their growth rate might be stunted due to the talented few taking unnecessary risks.
