Chapter 64: Chapter 64Aaron returned to his house after a while at the meet and greet.

He was wrong about the forgotten fame. Someone did recognize him, but the supposed commotion didn’t occur.

While he was speaking with Erika, the girl beside her recognized him and pointed out to Erika who he was. There was a bit of surprise, and they asked a couple of questions about how he was able to achieve that.

Aaron with no way out, said that he used all his skill points earned before the exam on upgrading his [Summon Skeleton] skill, which improved the number of skeletons he pocessed.

With such a large number of fighters, he was able to achieve the top rank.

Aaron skipped the details that could land him in trouble, but the look on Erika said that she saw through. She indeed did. She is not a stupid girl to believe that he could achieve with a bunch of skeletons.

Having that many skeletons could let him reach the top ranks but not the first place unless his skeletons received some kind of boost that could help them fight better.

She understood that it was his secret and that everyone was entitled to their own secrets.

How could he just spill his secrets to strangers that he had met a few minutes ago? No one would even spill such secrets to friends that they knew for a long time, much less strangers they came to know a few minutes ago.

So, she didn’t poke anymore. It would be quite rude if she tried to pry his secrets open. She felt that he was trustworthy. Maybe in the future, she can partner up with him to hunt monsters.

That may not be possible if she tries to pry into his secrets. So, she didn’t, but that doesn’t mean the other girl didn’t. She wanted to know how a Death Mage was able to achieve what she did.

Anyone that were able to achieve spots in the top academies was not naive enough to believe the story he made up.

What he said was truth, he just skipped a few details. Even so, the two listeners believed that either he was lying or there is more to it. They both leaned towards "There is more to the story".

Since one didn’t care whether what he said was actually true, the other one tried for a while and had to give up as he didn’t spill the secret, swearing that what he said was true. Sear?h the N?velFire(.)net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

She tried to drill a few minutes over that but failed to do so.

What she was able to achieve was attracting a few students nearby, which, though not her purpose, made Aaron think to keep away from her in the future.

The students nearby heard their conversation and were able to know that Aaron was the one who achieved the top rank in the exam.

Everyone knew who he was, but they forgot as they were busy trying to find ways to improve themselves in the short gap after the exam. They forgot about the Death Mage who achieved first rank in the exam until now.

No one knew beforehand that he would attend this academy, though there are speculations as Dusk Academy is best for Dark and Death professionals. The chances of him joining this academy were very high.

Only now, they had proof that he indeed joined the academy as they just saw him at the corner of the hall.

When they saw that the girl who was seated a seat away from Aaron was trying to pry his secret behind him scoring the top rank, they too wanted to know, but only disappointment awaited them.

They felt that the boy was arrogant and didn’t want to share with others, and many made rude comments about that, but if they were in the same position as Aaron, they too would not want to spill their secrets.

Though the staff heard the little commotion, they didn’t bother to put a stop to it.

Aaron, who was supposed to be revered by everyone for reaching the top rank, became the topic of envy, but he didn’t care much about it.

He doesn’t know anyone here, and he doesn’t care about their opinions.

What he came here for was to become powerful, and achieving that was more than enough for him.

    ---

"What to do now?" Aaron thought for a while.

It was past noon when he returned from the auditorium after the orientation. As soon as he returned, he started to prepare food for himself.

It was quite late into the afternoon, and he was hungry. Instead of going to the dining hall, which was available to all students, he prepared food by himself.

Going to the dining hall is costly. It would be cheaper if he prepared the food himself. In this way, he can save a bunch of credits, which are already very few. He would rather use those credits as the entry fee to dungeons.

There are two agendas on Aaron’s mind.

One is to level up as fast as possible and reach a rank where he can be safe from people with evil intentions. Only by having power can he protect himself and his parents if those bad people turn their heads towards his family.

When he arrived at the academy, he called his parents to inform them that he reached the academy safely, but he hid what happened to him on the train.

Instead of that, he told them a lie about some rumors regarding the cult and how they were trying to revive their organizations. He told them to be extra cautious of their surroundings. No one would know who was associated with the cult and how or when they were going to strike at the innocent.

His second agenda was the information.

Information was restricted no matter the world as it was a potent weapon that can topple governments and change the course of the world.

So, no matter the era, the higher-ups would restrict certain information from reaching the civilians and such. Only when proven can some information be accessed.

In a world such as this, if you are talented enough, you can access certain information that is normally unavailable.
