CHAPTER 302: CHAPTER 302

The list really surprised Aaron a lot. He didn’t understand why the higher-ups agreed to give rewards from the list that he was seeing.

Sure, he may have indirectly helped the alliance to thwart the Cults’ plans and saved a lot of lives inadvertently, but that was indirectly, not a direct action.

Even though he had some doubts about why he was given this list, he decided not to speak about that. There were many rewards available on the list to choose from, out of which he only heard about half of them.

More than that, what he was seeing was what’s visible was just the first page. There are more pages to check what items were available for him to select from.

"Wow", Aaron muttered as he checked the list of available items.

Even though he has seen some of them before, he has not seen or heard about most of the items, which means they are rare as hell, even though they are considered low-level items.

There are only five Tier-3 items, and the rest are Tier-2 items or items that can’t be exactly graded.

So, immediately, Aaron turned to check the Tier-3 items first.

As he wished, there are Attribute Booster Crystals, which can increase the attributes of the user permanently, but the problem was that it was a random one. There was no specified attribute that could be used on.

If there were a specification, that would be useful and one can plan accordingly, but this, this can be either helpful or a waste.

If Luck was increased by chance, that would be wonderful, but what if an attribute is not the most useful to the user? Then, though it might not be a waste, it would not be the best usage of the available resources.

So, random can be good or bad, that depends totally on one’s luck. Even so, he decided to take the two that were available, but then his eyes turned to one of the next ones that were available.

It was an Attribute unlocking item, something that he had been looking for a long time. He even hoarded a lot of FSPs in order to find this item and unlock a new attribute. Once done, he could dump the FSPs into the unlocked attribute.

That was the plan for himself.

He found himself in quite a bind. He needs to unlock another attribute as soon as possible.

---

Aaron finally settled on two rewards.

"These are the two I select", Aaron showed James the items that he chose.

The first one is a Random Attribute Booster Crystal, which improves a random attribute of the person who uses it. It is a Tier-3 Crystal, which, according to the description, increases the attribute by 1000 points.

The Second one is a Random Attribute Awakening scroll, which is not exactly graded. Using it would awaken a hidden or special attribute of the person who used it.

The first was for one of his parents, while the second one was for him.

Though he intends to improve his parents’ strength, he couldn’t forgo improving his own strength, not after what happened at the Duskmist City.

If this scroll were not present, then he would have selected another attribute-improving resource, but out of all other resources, this is the only one he wanted.

As long as he can find a source of those attribute booster resources, he can find more of them. He was sure of it, but the attribute awakening scrolls like this are rare.

Even Jay has never seen one in his life. He has seen and even consumed attribute boosting resources, but has never seen an attribute awakening item that can unlock hidden or special attributes.

So, he had no choice but to select this item instead of choosing two items for his parents. If his parents were strong, he could have peace of mind, but if he grows even stronger, resources for his parents would be easier to come by.

Both have pros and cons.

"Should I call Mom and Dad?" Aaron wondered for a second, before striking that thought, "They would say to buy two items useful for me".

Their response would be for him to choose resources useful to him, rather than wondering about them. They had already benefited a lot from their son, both directly and indirectly, which made them feel a bit guilty about that.

As parents, they had to provide for their son, but after awakening, it became the reverse. They have already spoken about that too many times. So, he didn’t think calling them would be a good idea.

He checked his status for a second and then made a decision.

---

"Okay, I would get them for you. Luckily, these two are at the base. So, you can have them in a few minutes", James said.

"Thank you, I can wait", Aaron replied.

James left Aaron behind, only to return a few minutes later holding two boxes in his hands.

James handed the boxes to Aaron, "Here you go. You can check the contents".

Aaron smiled and checked inside the boxes. Though he wanted to be respectful and leave without checking, saying that he trusts that someone who works for the alliance wouldn’t shortchange him, he didn’t.

Those lines may look cool, but he doesn’t know the man much.

He first came to know James when he registered as a patrol member, and then it was when he handed the five on the previous day.

Whenever he starts his duty, he would come in and log in using his badge at the terminal established for this purpose. That was it. He had no interaction with him.

So, he has to check.

What if James replaced the items, and Aaron didn’t check before leaving?

What would happen if Aaron finds that the items he asked for are not the items he got?

There would be no refunds. Even the alliance might think that he was trying to cheat, not the one working for them.

"Everything is alright", Aaron stated once he checked the boxes.

"Okay, that is all", James said and walked away.

Aaron, too, left the base and returned home. There was something he wanted to do, and he needed privacy.
