CHAPTER 346: CHAPTER 346

Aaron sighed in relief and sat back in his seat. He kept his senses actively, passively watching what was happening, unlike others who were looking out of their windows to watch the spectacle.

Well, it can be considered a spectacle.

Not many would be privileged to watch a Rank-9 professional on a battlefield. Normally, they would fight someone who is of the same rank as them, and in such a battle, ants like these people would perish before they knew what happened.

So, normally, no one below Rank-7 would or should watch a Rank-9 battle, but this time it was different, as there was only a single Rank-9, while most of the opponents had yet to cross Rank-5 properly.

Yeah, the highest was at Rank-6, but others were not even Rank-5. This was why Aaron didn’t feel fear while he saw them. He only felt a bit of fear of what he might have to face if he had to deal with them.

No one has truly seen his fights. So, he always downplayed his fights, even about what happened in Duskmist city, but that might not have been possible here, where there were so many spectators.

Lucky for him, before he decided to act, someone else did, and that too a Rank-9 Fire Mage.

The Red Mage ended the battle in less than a minute. That first fireball, which no one saw, took out nearly ten of the assailants. The leader didn’t get hurt in that strike, but losing one third before the battle even started was a bad start for the group, especially when the opponent was three ranks higher than you.

The people who were behind this didn’t think to send more people or high-ranking ones, as they believed that could attract unwanted attention.

To attack a train that had nothing important, if a lot of high-ranking people arrive, then the alliance would feel that there is something wrong here and would investigate the incident deeply.

They knew that they couldn’t kill all of the passengers, no matter what they tried. Help would come. So, they could only kidnap or kill a few people, and they would surely give the information about them.

It would definitely bite them in the ass, as the alliance would be sure to pick out the ones who attacked the train easily.

None of the high-ranking cultists moves among the citizens easily. They would be in hiding most of the time. This was because it was easier to find out the high-ranking ones compared to the low-ranking cultists.

So, no high-ranking ones were deployed, and now all they could do was to cry internally when they saw who they were facing.

"Shit, it’s the Red Mage. Run", the leader shouted out loudly and started running. So did others.

Instead of running as practised before, fear turned them to run in a chaotic way.

Red Mage, who was observing their actions from the sky, had a smirk on his face, watching them with indifference. He waved his hand a few times, and one could see the Fire Snakes that flew out of his hand and hunted the fleeing cultists down.

Every passenger clapped in joy.

The last few minutes were like a rollercoaster of emotions for them. At first, they were just lying down to rest, then, because of the blasts and the appearance of cultists, fear took over.

For a second, it reduced when they heard that the train was undamaged from the blasts, but fear multiplied tenfold when one of the train compartment doors was blasted open, and that too from inside.

They felt the blast. The ones who were close to that door felt even more fear and started praying. In this world, there were no gods, as it was on earth. Here, only strength was believed.

Now in danger, they found imaginary gods, to save them. Whether their prayers worked or not, someone came to save them, a Rank-9 Fire Mage, which made everyone happy.

Now, seeing that Mage hunting every cultist down with a snap of his fingers, they couldn’t control their joy. They felt safe.

Luminar Academy...

"Damn it. Why does this occur, now of all times? It was supposed to be a simple job. I even made they extra cautious before I properly greenlit the job", Jason cursed as he started a stress walk across the room.

To him, it was a simple job.

Grab a boy who has awakened less than three years ago. No matter what, there is no way that someone like him was supposed to be strong.

If the boy had some powerful background, Jason would have estimated that Aaron might have reached Rank-5, but Aaron didn’t.

So, he only sent some thirty-odd members, who are Rank-4 and less. Only the leader was Rank-6, his personal secret servant, Red. Sending any more might make it easy for the enemy party to find that he was behind the incident.

He didn’t send high-ranking ones, fearing that they could be traced, but sending low-ranking ones like that backfired, too. The plan fell before it was properly executed.

Who could have expected that a Rank-9 would appear out of nowhere?

"I don’t know what the Alliance might dig up from this, but I need to prepare for an instant evacuation. Good thing that I kept Red from the eyes of others", Jason muttered, and started preparing for eventual disappearance.

No matter how righteous the alliance members appear, almost all of them have skeletons in their closets. To do such things, everyone has someone who was hidden from the public’s sight.

Red was one such person. No one knew about his existence.

Yes, Red has a life, but no mention of working for Jason in the dark. Even his real name was never mentioned to keep things secret. If someone figured about him, then taking care of him would be easy.

So, he was called just Red by Jason, because Red was a Fire Mage.

It’s Ironic that the Fire Mage thug with the moniker Red was killed by an Alliance Fire Mage with the moniker Red Mage.

Jason failed to see the irony here. His mind was filled with the anger he now held against the Red Mage, and even his ancestors for making such a deal with that devil.

What he failed to notice was that Aaron was lucky, maybe the luckiest one in the world. Any plans like that against him would end up in failure, unless they are as lucky as he is.

No one could find fault with him for that. Even the ones who were thinking property might not think that Aaron was that lucky.
