Delayed Regrets: He Regretted Only After Her Death
Chapter 130: Her Marriage Is None of Their Business
CHAPTER 130: CHAPTER 130: HER MARRIAGE IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS
It seemed the bitterness in his heart was too much to bear, so Aiden Grant unwrapped the candy.
That candy Daisy gave him, he put it in his mouth.
He thought the sweetness of the candy could ease the bitterness in his heart.
Unexpectedly, the sweeter the taste in his throat, the tighter his chest felt.
Because his mind was echoing with the words Daisy just said to him.
She said he was annoying.
She also said her mom and dad would give her a new brother or sister.
That dad, she was referring to Hector Chaucer, not him.
Creak.
The door was pushed open.
When the principal returned to the office, seeing his red, teary eyes, she could only blame herself for returning at the wrong time.
"President Grant, was the chat with Daisy not very pleasant?"
Aiden Grant turned around, wiped the tears from the corner of his eyes.
When he turned back, he was his calm, gentlemanly self again.
"It’s okay, just as you said, blood is thicker than water."
He believed that sooner or later, Daisy would recognize him.
"Principal, I might not be able to come to school every day to teach art class anymore."
"But I hope you can keep this position for me."
"I will try my best to find time for the children’s art classes."
"Regarding the schedule, I’ll have my assistant contact you in advance."
The principal nodded, "I can tell President Grant is a good father. I hope you and Daisy can mend your father-daughter relationship soon."
...
On the day James Linden was discharged from the hospital, he returned to Tranquil Villa in the afternoon.
Daniel Linden supported him as he sat down, "Dad, you’ve just recovered, you need to rest well at home for the next few days, don’t go anywhere."
"Daniel, I want to see Tiana." James Linden’s mind was full of his precious daughter—Tiana Linden.
He held too much guilt and self-blame towards Tiana.
Sitting down, he asked again, "Daniel, is Tiana still living at Leo Sutton’s place? Have you prepared the things I asked you to? We’re heading to Leo Sutton’s house soon. I want to personally apologize to Tiana and ask for her forgiveness."
Daniel Linden placed a pillow behind James Linden.
James Linden had been stabbed in the back by Sharon Sullivan.
Though he had recovered, he was left with back pain.
Especially on such rainy days, the pain was excruciating.
After adjusting the pillow, Daniel Linden continued, "Dad, Tiana is no longer living at Leo Sutton’s. They’ve filed for divorce."
James Linden sighed with relief:
"It’s good that they’re divorced. They weren’t a real couple to begin with."
"It was hard on your sister back then. To find a guardian for Daisy, she endured so much suffering."
"Tiana has always loved Aiden Grant."
"Daniel, we were real bastards back then."
To bring Vivian Linden and Aiden Grant together, the father and son had done too many things that wronged Tiana.
James Linden specifically instructed, "Daniel, fortunately, Aiden Grant never had a real relationship with Vivian Linden, nor did they register a marriage. Now we have to find a way to get Tiana and Aiden Grant back together."
This child had followed Aiden Grant around since she was little.
When she was just five or six, she was already saying she wanted to marry Aiden Grant when she grew up.
And they even have a child together—Daisy.
James Linden hoped that Tiana could get back together with Aiden Grant.
This matter troubled Daniel Linden, "Dad, Tiana is with Hector Chaucer now."
"How could that be?" James Linden was quite puzzled, "Wasn’t it always a misunderstanding between the two of them?"
Daniel Linden’s expression darkened, and he said with worry:
"This time, they’re really together. I heard it from Christopher Grant."
"Tiana has already moved in with Hector Chaucer."
"Hector Chaucer even bought a villa next to Leo Sutton’s place."
"I’m afraid he has ulterior motives against Tiana."
Thinking of his daughter being with a man he couldn’t trust without his consent.
James Linden was both angry and worried.
"Hector Chaucer has been ruthless in his quest to become the Patriarch of The Chaucer Family, even aiming to eliminate his own brothers."
"Why is he approaching Tiana? Could it be he’s targeting the industry chain behind The Linden Family?"
Daniel Linden nodded, "That possibility cannot be ruled out."
An angry James Linden slammed his hand on the sofa, "I do not agree with Tiana being with Hector Chaucer."
At this moment, Uncle Cameron brought over a document, "President Linden, Mr. Linden, this is a subpoena from the court, stating that it must be opened by the two of you personally."
Daniel Linden took it and opened it.
It was Tiana Linden suing them for the inheritance left by her mother, Wanda Townsend.
Originally, James Linden and Daniel Linden were ready to transfer many of their shares and assets to Tiana.
Not just Wanda Townsend’s portion, but even theirs, they planned to give to Tiana.
To show their remorse.
Learning that Tiana was with Hector Chaucer, the father and son’s attitude changed immediately.
...
Evening.
The Sovereign.
Hector Chaucer, Tiana Linden, and Daisy were sitting at the dining table, having dinner.
Butler Lowell approached, "Mr. Chaucer, Miss Linden, James Linden and Daniel Linden are here, they’re waiting outside."
Mentioning James and Daniel, Tiana lost her appetite, "Did they say what it’s about?"
Butler Lowell replied, "They’re saying it’s about your mother’s inheritance and want to resolve it privately with you."
Tiana did not want to see these two people, "There’s nothing to resolve privately. Butler Lowell, please tell them that Louis Sutton will handle the lawsuit entirely for me. Any issues, have them directly contact Louis Sutton. Louis Sutton’s attitude is my attitude."
She did not want to discuss with them face to face.
Butler Lowell went outside to convey Tiana’s stance to James and Daniel Linden.
Not seeing his daughter made James Linden anxious.
He was eager to see his daughter, but Butler Lowell stopped him.
Finally, the two tried to force their way in.
Butler Lowell dropped his polite demeanor, "Gentlemen, you had better leave before you embarrass yourselves."
Behind Butler Lowell stood several of Gordon Lowell’s men.
They were in charge of villa security, each tall and robust, forming a line to keep Daniel and James Linden out.
James Linden glanced through the large window at the villa.
That was where the dining room was.
He could clearly see his daughter and granddaughter sitting at the table eating, yet he couldn’t even get close enough to say a word to his daughter.
He knew Tiana resented him, but he was always Tiana’s father.
Did Tiana forget how he doted on her when she was young?
Did she forget how he defended her, arguing with his own parents, when they called her worthless? Even cutting ties with them?
None of that mattered now.
What mattered was James Linden was worried that Tiana was being deceived by Hector Chaucer.
He shouted towards the dining room through the window:
"Tiana, not only is your mother’s inheritance yours."
"Even your dad’s and brother’s inheritance can be all yours."
"But dad does not agree with you being with someone as ruthless as Hector Chaucer."
"Being with him will only bring you harm. Tiana, listen to your dad’s advice..."
Their voices were muffled through the glass.
But Tiana could hear it clearly.
She called Butler Lowell, "Butler Lowell, tell James Linden this—my father is Gabriel Chaucer. My marriage is none of his business."
Butler Lowell passed on the message to James Linden.
Then signaled, "Gentlemen, please leave."
