CHAPTER 19: CHAPTER 19: AIDEN GRANT GETS TORMENTED

As soon as Aiden Grant spoke, Tiana Linden recognized his voice.

Blame mixed with deep disgust toward her.

She couldn’t care less how much Aiden hated her. She tore out the IV needle from her hand, got out of bed, and hurried outside.

She anxiously asked over the phone:

"Mr. Grant, is Daisy with you?"

"What happened to Daisy? Where are you? I’ll come over right away."

The nurse saw her weak and about to collapse.

She also noticed the hand with the IV, blood dripping all the way to the door, wanting to stop her:

"Hey, where are you going? You can’t leave yet, you’re bleeding."

Tiana couldn’t care about these things.

Daisy must be in trouble for the school to call so many times.

And she happened to faint at the market.

Now she was feverish, her mind befuddled, her steps feeling like they were on cotton.

In Daisy’s school records, the father’s column was filled with Aiden Grant.

Because she feared that one day she might leave abruptly.

Perhaps die on the way to pick up Daisy, or maybe die at home, and then no one would be there to take Daisy home.

She firmly believed, Aiden would surely acknowledge Daisy.

That’s why she left Aiden’s number with the school.

Must be that the teacher couldn’t reach her, so called Aiden instead.

As she walked, anxiously she asked, "Mr. Grant, how is Daisy doing? Can I speak to her?"

"Tiana, do you dare ask me?"

"You’re the child’s mother, to not know how your child is?"

"Such an irresponsible person, how are you fit to raise a child?"

On the phone, Aiden’s voice was full of accusation and deep disgust.

Anyone could say she’s irresponsible.

But Aiden couldn’t.

She rushed to Daisy’s hospital room, tenderly touching Daisy’s burning forehead.

"Daisy, I’m sorry, Mommy didn’t take good care of you."

Next to her, Aiden coldly sneered, "You have time for sinister schemes, but not to care for your child? Tiana, how are you qualified to be a mother?"

Tiana’s heart ached, she no longer wished to see Aiden.

Much less to hear the cold, unfeeling, even vicious voice of Aiden’s.

Yet she wiped her tears, stood up from the bedside.

Turning to look at Aiden behind her, she raised her hand, explained to Aiden:

"I’m sick too, getting a drip in this hospital."

"There are cancer cells in my lungs, even a small cold leads to lung infections..."

Her breathing severely labored.

Unable to catch her breath, she had to pause to breathe heavily after speaking.

Aiden saw the IV port in her hand, saw the bloodstains on her hand, yet dismissed it with disdain, a sneer:

"Tiana, your acting is impressive, props well used."

"The blood on your hand painted beforehand, right?"

"Next time maybe keep a blood capsule in your mouth, act even more realistically before me?"

Just a few words from Dr. Mason Zane, enough for Aiden to distrust her.

Tiana couldn’t fathom how she ever found this cold-hearted, apathetic man appealing?

Must’ve been blind.

After taking a big breath, she weakly spoke:

"Do I have to die before you believe me?"

Aiden looked at her coldly, "Tiana, save your act for the stage, stop pretending in front of me, I’m not that naive!"

Recalling yesterday’s restaurant conversation with Dr. Mason, Aiden just felt disgust.

Such an actress, her acting stirred relentless hatred in his heart.

Looking at Tiana, his gaze deepened with hatred.

He coldly mocked, "Tiana, your makeup artist well-paid, right? So realistic, must cost a lot!"

Glancing at Daisy, Aiden felt a pang.

Such a young child, yet Tiana managed to care for her so poorly.

"Tiana, look how you care for a child."

"A high fever like this."

"Her hands, either cuts or burns, how did it happen?"

"You have time for elaborate scheming, but no time for child care?"

"If you can’t take care of her, why have her?"

"You should care for her well since you had her."

At this moment, Tiana didn’t want to explain anymore to Aiden.

But she feared her sudden death.

Worried Daisy would have no care.

She endured all pain, flatly stated:

"Mr. Grant, in truth, I am not acting, everything I said is true."

"Daisy sick and hurt, it’s my fault for not caring well, but I’m helpless."

"You don’t accept her, I have to find her an adoptive family."

"Before she goes to an adoptive family, I must force her to learn housework, cooking, sleeping alone."

"It’s fine if you don’t believe me, but if I die before finding Daisy an adoptive family, I beg you to do a paternity test for the child."

Were there any other ways, she wouldn’t repeatedly plead with Aiden.

Though he was the last person she wished to see.

No more to say.

With a battered body, sat back in the chair, again stroked Daisy’s face, Aiden behind her coldly slandered:

"Tiana, to gain research secrets from Linden-Grant Pharmaceuticals, you’ll resort to anything."

"People like you, even if you have cancer, won’t get special anti-cancer drugs when they’re developed."

Words filled with hate overflowing.

But indulging in verbal bashing, Aiden felt unsatisfied.

Just then, Daisy on the hospital bed seemed awake, called "Mommy" twice, slowly opened her eyes.

Indeed saw Mommy.

"Mommy, where am I?"

Tiana touched Daisy’s forehead, thankfully fever subsided, "At the hospital, sorry, Mommy didn’t take care of you well."

"Mommy, it’s okay. Mommy, can you hug me?" Daisy so longed for Mommy’s embrace.

Last night, she waited for Mommy’s hug.

But kept waiting in vain.

So sad.

Under long lashes, Daisy’s gaze was incredibly yearning, "Mommy, hug."

A pair of little hands, opened arms, waiting for Mommy’s hug.

Tiana quickly put on her mask, leaned down, hugged Daisy tightly.

Right now, her heart was bleeding.

In her arms, Daisy’s raspy voice, "Mommy, I want to drink water."

Aiden hurried to pour hot water and handed it over.

Only then did Daisy notice another person in the ward.

This person was the disliked dad.

Daisy was not happy at all.

Her small face showed displeasure, looked at Aiden with dislike.

Finally, Daisy still politely yet distantly said, "Thank you, but I want mommy’s water."

Aiden’s hand holding the cup, stiffly withdrew.

A shadow fell over his face.

For some reason, a strange feeling inside, uncomfortable, somewhat sad.

He’s always been popular with kids, does Daisy not like him? Why doesn’t she like him?
