Delayed Regrets: He Regretted Only After Her Death
Chapter 22: Aiden Grant Confronts Tiana Linden
CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: AIDEN GRANT CONFRONTS TIANA LINDEN
Christopher was just a beat slow to respond, and Jane Summers went into a frenzy, hitting him.
She punched with all her might.
Not only on Christopher’s chest but also on his elegant, handsome face.
Yet, Christopher didn’t even raise his hand, let alone fight back; he endured his wife’s emotional outburst.
After Jane finally stopped, with scratches on his neck and face from her, he endured the stinging pain and calmly said:
"I’ve never thought about divorcing you."
"Today, it was my poor communication; I’m sorry. But we both need to calm down."
"I’ll sleep in the guest room."
Jane, having vented, watched Christopher leave and cried out, "Christopher, you just want to divorce me. What kind of witchcraft did that Tiana use to enchant you so much that your soul’s gone? You’ve never slept in separate rooms from me before. Christopher, you are not allowed to sleep in the guest room. Christopher, explain this to me. Did you sleep with her or not?"
Jane chased him to the guest room and saw Christopher shut the door and lock it.
She stood outside the door, crying and shouting, "Christopher, come out and speak clearly. If you want a divorce, let’s divorce, who’s afraid of whom? Since you like that Tiana so much, go with her then."
Christopher knew he was a latecomer.
Jane always had her first love in her heart. If the first love hadn’t abandoned her and gone abroad, Christopher wouldn’t have had the chance to be the backup.
For six years, he loved Jane carefully and cherished her, thinking that as long as he was good enough, Jane would cherish him too.
But she could so lightly mention divorce, words that he would never bring up.
He opened the door and looked at Jane, who was crying furiously at the doorway.
He felt a pang of remorse!
He stepped forward to try to hold Jane, wanting to comfort her.
But Jane brushed away his hand before he could touch her, "Don’t touch me, you disgust me. Since you like sleeping with Tiana so much, then go, go to that witch Tiana."
Christopher suppressed the dull pain in his heart, his face covered with a shadow of melancholy:
"You don’t like me being in contact with Tiana, I can reduce my interaction with her. But everyone, regardless of whether they are good or bad, deserves respect. I hope you can be rational. While insulting others, consider whether you have the qualifications to do so?"
He wasn’t speaking on Tiana’s behalf.
He just felt from an objective standpoint that everyone should be respected.
After speaking, he closed the door, "Let’s both calm down."
Jane was so angry she returned to the master bedroom and called Aiden Grant.
After listening to Jane crying as she spoke, Aiden comforted her with a few words, "Jane, you should believe Christopher. He loves and cherishes you so much, has quietly protected you since he was young, marrying you is his greatest treasure, how could he betray you?"
Aiden knows and trusts his buddy.
Jane vented lots of grievances to Aiden.
At this moment, Aiden was accompanying Vivian Linden at a vintage private dining establishment for supper.
The house specialty, fish and eel congee, is Vivian Linden’s favorite.
Aiden talked to Jane while serving congee to Vivian, Jane’s cries on the other end of the phone really were headache-inducing.
By the time he hung up the phone, Vivian Linden had already finished her bowl of congee.
Vivian asked, "What did Jane say to you, did she cry on the phone? Did she have a fight with Christopher? It doesn’t make sense. Christopher is famously devoted, how could he bear to let Jane cry?"
Putting down the phone, Aiden’s face was somber, "Tiana couldn’t make any move on me, so she went to seduce Christopher, her tactics are endless. It looks like she won’t rest until she gets the specific anti-cancer research secrets."
Vivian didn’t say anything further at that moment.
She frowned and pondered for a while.
Aiden served her more congee, but she stopped him, "Let’s go back to the lab; I still want to work a little longer with the professors. Don’t you wish the specific anti-cancer medication could be developed sooner?"
Aiden: "You haven’t properly eaten or rested for several days now. Don’t work late tonight."
Vivian: "I’m fine, I’m still young. If we can succeed in developing it before our wedding, maybe we can save your mentor’s life. Let’s hurry back to the lab and work until midnight."
There are two months until Aiden and Vivian’s wedding.
...
The next morning, Aiden inexplicably showed up at Daisy’s kindergarten.
The kindergarten entrance was busy with vehicles coming and going.
Among all those parents and kids, Aiden instantly recognized the mother-daughter pair on a pink electric scooter.
They were the woman he loved since childhood; he could never mistake her.
Even if it was just a back view, he could recognize her in a single second.
He loathed this familiarity engraved in his mind, even his bloodstream.
Hated it immensely.
So much so that seeing Tiana leading Daisy from the scooter to the entrance, his eyes were filled with hatred.
As his gaze fell on Daisy, memories surfaced of the day at the hospital when Daisy refused the warm water he offered, with her cold and distant little eyes.
Aiden still felt a bit hurt by it.
Such a cute, sensible, and polite little Daisy, yet she was Hector Chaucer’s daughter.
The disgrace and hatred in his eyes deepened.
It wasn’t convenient to speak certain things in front of Daisy, so after she went inside, Aiden stopped Tiana as she was about to get back on the scooter.
Tiana was even more surprised than when Aiden had actively called her last time.
Wasn’t this man nauseated by her?
Why find her?
"Mr. Grant said not to meet again, why are you here?"
Aiden responded coldly, "I really don’t want to see you again. If it weren’t for Christopher, who would want to meet you?"
Christopher?
As Tiana vaguely guessed his purpose, Aiden indiscriminately began to smear her:
"What other despicable means do you have?"
"I won’t fall for your tricks, even the Christopher who always treated you as a sister, you had to seduce?"
"Christopher and Jane’s loving marriage of six years was rocked by your presence, Tiana, you truly are cunning."
"To achieve your plans, would you even climb into Christopher’s bed if necessary?"
Hector Chaucer has always been a thorn in Aiden’s side, his life’s greatest shame.
Once, Aiden adored Tiana, was devoted and unyielding in his affection, no one could come close.
Had it not been for Tiana sleeping with Hector Chaucer and carrying his child, Aiden would never have accepted Vivian Linden.
Now Tiana was seducing Christopher.
"Tiana, you are utterly filthy!" Aiden looked at her with disgust and animosity, his whole being filled with anguish.
Tiana had told herself many times, don’t suffer for this man.
Not worth it!
She wanted to keep in good spirits, live as many days as possible.
Even if just an hour more, a minute more, she could spend more time with Daisy.
But this man always infuriated her, making her entire being ache whenever he appeared.
In pain, she accused, "It doesn’t matter if you don’t trust me, but you can’t not trust Christopher."
Aiden: "I truly trust my dear friend without a doubt, but I don’t trust your filthy despicable self. Tiana, stay away from Christopher. Don’t exploit his kindheartedness, or I’ll make sure you can’t stay in Veridia."
