Capítulo 851: Chapter 11: Rank
Renie, however, remained relentless, and with a nonchalant tone in response to Alagina’s previous counterattack, she stabbed words as sharp as a knife deep into Alagina’s heart,
“Since you entered Nali and got to know Fisher, you’ve felt inferior in front of him every moment. It’s this feeling that, when you found out he was disgraced and hunted by the entire country, even if you deny it, deep down you felt a sense of relief, didn’t you?”
“Because now he’s a fugitive just like you, he can’t return to his homeland, the gap between you two that was once as vast as the sky is gone… now you have the chance to exploit the situation, now you can rightfully claim him. Isn’t that what you think?”
“The promises you’ve demanded from him, and the intimate gestures, all of it is your incessant need for reassurance, a way to compensate for your inferiority, relying on Fisher’s ignorance of your female nation’s ways, and Captain Alagina tries to attack me with the so-called true feelings shared through adversity with him? How absurd and naive! Or did you think your little schemes, which you believe are well-concealed, wouldn’t be discovered by others?”
“And what do you think would happen if I told Fisher all of this?”
Emhardt stared blankly at Renie, sitting calmly in a chair beside him, not daring to breathe. Only now did he gradually realize what a terrifying character this witch Renie, who Fisher longed to see, truly was.
Let alone Alagina, who was far inferior in rank, Emhardt privately believed that even if all the ladies he had met before combined, they could not match the person before him; she was terrifying beyond compare!
He dared not look at Renie, who was metaphorically on a killing spree, any longer and just shrank his square body in her palm pretending to be dead.
“I… I didn’t… think like that…”
The ice beneath Alagina contracted slowly, matching her deflating aura. She comprehended little of why the beautiful woman’s purple eyes were so penetrating, as if seeing through her completely.
“I am serious about Fisher, I swear to be responsible for him all my life… I never wanted to use vile means to be with him…”
She had indeed thought that way because Fisher’s radiance and status were just too dazzling, making her feel inferior, even if she had remained in the Feudal Kingdom instead of escaping and becoming its monarch, she felt it hard to match him.
She was not eloquent, and as a Sardinian female with Yin Yang Inversion, she lacked an understanding of romance, would become anxious in front of him, and had nothing in common with his interests in Magic, Demi-human Studies, or ethics. She could not assist him and would be more of a burden…
Yes, she had to admit that Renie was right. She did feel inferior in front of Fisher, and sometimes consoling herself silently that his forced departure from his homeland was a good thing because only then could she be with him…
But she absolutely wasn’t forcing Fisher; she merely wanted an opportunity. She didn’t want to give up on Fisher any longer, as she had experienced his goodness, which made her fall hopelessly in love.
If now required to give up on Fisher, she would refuse to do so, determined to pursue her path to the end, even if it meant a life-and-death struggle with the woman before her.
Her icy footsteps spread slowly, and her eyes turned colder, ready to fight for real, yet Renie only yawned with her chin resting on her hand, finding it too easy to deal with Alagina, not even needing to be serious to utterly defeat her.
“Oh dear, so scary, so scary; when words fail, you’re resorting to action, are you…”
“I’m sorry… I… can’t give up on Fisher…”
Renie didn’t bother replying, her face suddenly changing to a look of fear and bewilderment. Pityingly, she raised her hand holding Emhardt to Alagina’s back, shaking it and then loudly shouting,
“Ahh, pirate lord, don’t scare me… I’m just here with my husband visiting relatives! Spare me… boo hoo, Fisher, save me!”
The coldness from Alagina vanished instantly. Hastily and urgently, she turned her head to seek the man Renie mentioned, the one she loved…
In her blue eyes, filled with eagerness, yearning, affection, blame, and curiosity, the sight of the handsome gentleman rushing from Old Jack’s shop was so familiar it made her heart race.
“Fisher…”
Alagina instinctively called out to the gentleman in the distance, and Fisher noticed the situation not far away.
On the still battlefield-tinted empty street, Renie sat pitifully on a stone step holding what seemed like the long-dead Emhardt, her confusion, fear, and panic evidently feigned. What really caught Fisher’s eye were her intriguingly violet eyes, an ominous foreboding feeling struck him just looking at them.
And before Renie stood Alagina, with her back turned, the Ice Prince tattoo glowing faintly, the Iceberg Queen with an expression of anxiety on her face, inches from Renie, appearing ready to fight, but Fisher inexplicably felt Alagina was no match for Renie.
After all even Elizabeth was not a match for Renie, he had personally witnessed how Renie defeated Elizabeth, making her flee in disgrace.
“Alagina…”
Seeing Alagina’s face showing aggrieved restraint despite her tall and slender figure, Fisher instinctively greeted her, using it as an opening line, while his mind raced.
Yet upon hearing these words, Renie suddenly seemed to realize, shaking Emhardt in disbelief, she said to Fisher,
“Fisher, you didn’t go shopping… so, just now, you were intending to find her?”
Fisher, a bit troubled, glanced at Renie who had placed her hand over her red lips in feigned surprise, and sighed inwardly, albeit late, he roughly grasped the current circumstances.
And Renie’s statement marked that this beautiful, high-ranked lady was now directing her blade towards him.
