CHAPTER 251: WHERE IS MY WOMAN?

It didn’t come as a surprise that Brooke hated Cassie, the girl was rude to even the maids back at his place.

However, after listening to her speak on how badly Cassie treated her in the past, Julian felt ashamed that he had dared to call her out.

"Cassie was the one who stole your husband?" he asked in disbelief.

Brooke nodded, "Although, I really must thank her, a man like Ethan wasn’t worth any woman in the first place."

"Brooke if what you just said is true, then it doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would Luther be so involved in Cassie’s life? He must have had some ulterior motive." Julian speculated.

Brooke frowned, "I’m just as stunned as you to imagine Cassie isn’t Luther’s daughter. I don’t even think he knows that himself."

Julian pinched his chin, "Are you trying to say Serena would go as far as to lie to Luther?" he didn’t seem convinced, "Luther as far as I knew was a cunning yet cautious man. That’s how he was able to come in-between me and Serena. I don’t know if he would fall for such underhanded tricks."

"Then what do you think-" she was saying only for Thane’s calm voice to interject with a suggestion.

"Why are we eliminating the possibility that Serena is lying and Cassie isn’t his daughter?" he asked stealing both their attention.

The idea had crossed Brooke’s mind, but she didn’t think to dwell on it, after all someone like Julian wouldn’t admit to it without some sort of confirmation. She turned to Julian and asked, "How sure are you that Cassie is your daughter?"

He stretched his hands across the table, "If I’m being honest, a large part of me does not believe that she is my daughter. One, the age doesn’t match up, the time I left serena and the time she had Cassie don’t align. But then I just believed that was because as an actress she was lying about her age to appear younger. But then we had a talk while she was still at the hospital, and that made me suspect Serena might be playing me for a fool."

A talk at the hospital? Brooke suddenly remembered when she saw Julian at the hospital, so at the time had he been there for Cassie? She recalled her aunt Sarah and Scott had been there as well. Did they know about the scheme? Were they in in on it too? She shook her head; Sarah would not be involved in something so cruel.

Thane narrowed his eyes, "And you?" he piped up, "Why do you believe that you have a daughter? Each one of us knows that Scott is a greedy bastard, do you honestly think that he might’ve not been fooling you?" Thane asked.

Brooke found herself agreeing, "That man is not trustworthy, no one in that family is, they might have just been fooling you just for a quick buck." she reasoned.

Julian frowned, "I thought that way at first, but after what happened with Kayden’s mother, I don’t want to take any chances. I don’t think I would be able to live with myself if I messed up again and missed out on another child." he confessed.

His words hit Brook deeply, she felt angry, if Serena and Scott were playing another trick, she wasn’t sure she would be able to take it lying down.

"What about a DNA test?" Thane suggested. "I have some people who could help with that."

Julian shook his head, "Thank you for the generous offer, but I have someone looking into that. I just wanted a third person’s perspective on everything that’s happening." he said getting up.

"Where are you going?" Brooke asked, she tried to get up and follow but he tossed her a gentle smile.

"I have intruded on your private life more than enough, you two please carry on." he told them, but Brooke was adamant on him eating dinner with them. She even went as far as to offer to have him taken home.

On that note, an idea planted itself in Julian’s head, "If that’s the case, then why not have dinner at home with me tonight?"

Ethan stormed into Jen’s apartment, fuming with rage of having Brooke so close to him and yet losing her so quickly. He was so angry that when he came in, he did not notice that the place was empty. It took him some time to notice that the family photos on her shelf, and the little knickknacks she laid out were all missing.

"Jen?" he called out, his eyes scanning the empty room. The floor was mopped clean, save for the trail left by his boots leading into her bedroom.

He whipped his phone out of his jacket and dialed her number, but no matter how many times he called she did not answer his phone.

"What the hell?!" he tossed his phone against the wall, smashing its screen to pieces.

For good measure he searched the drawers and wardrobes carefully, tearing the place apart but Jen had disappeared into thin air, her phone was unreachable and not a single trace was left. Panicked, Ethan marched over to the owner of the building and banged loudly at his doorstep, disrupting the peace of the area.

But even then, even when the owner stepped out and he demanded in a deranged tone, "Where the hell is the woman in room 302?" he got a huge shock when the old man answered;

"She handed her keys over last night." he said, blinking twice trying to make sure he was indeed looking at Ethan Halton. ’I mean, the tenants had said something about a rich handsome man frequenting her place, but to think it was Mr. Halton all this time.’

To Ethan he asked, "Were you the person with the last copy of her key-" he was saying, but Ethan grabbed him by the collar, lifting him off the ground, his eyes widened in rage.

"Where the hell is she?!" he demanded, "Where is my woman?!"
