Chapter 30: The Beast Run!
The boys were enjoying their newfound speed—playing tag mid-run, overtaking each other, laughing between breaths while keeping an eye on the track. Some sections were steep. Others required cautious footing due to the slippery terrain.
At one point, Danny nearly slipped—but instead of crashing, his body twisted mid-air and landed gracefully like a parkour expert.
"Damn, Danny! What kind of move was that?" Samuel called out, stunned.
"I don't know, man! I just fell, twisted my body like those parkour dudes, and boom—landed upright!" Danny beamed with excitement.
They sparkled with strange energy and took off again. This time, they didn't just run—they launched. Jumping, pivoting, gliding forward like wind-borne chaos.
Suddenly, Danny crouched low and took off in full Naruto style. His body blurred forward, low to the ground, arms slicing behind him like twin blades. Each leap was flight—every movement precise, kinetic, and unrelenting. It wasn't just running; it was war dance velocity.
Samuel laughed wildly. "Danny, you're a genius! Hahaha!"
Without hesitation, he mimicked the iconic ninja run.
They dashed with the wind and—before they even realized—they were out. Standing back at the starting point.
Danny checked the smart watch. "Shit. That was fast. We're done? The track felt so short."
Samuel tapped at his own screen. "We completed the track in 33 minutes. Damn—I feel like running more."
They paused, caught their breath… then locked eyes.
Two minutes later, their expressions sparked with the same fire.
"We still got another 25 minutes," Samuel said, eyes glowing. "Let's take another lap. Full-scale Naruto mode. I think we can do it in 20."
Danny arched a brow.
Then he screamed, "I AM SASUKE!" and bolted into the jungle.
"Heh—I'm the Copy Ninja, Kakashi!" Samuel shouted and followed behind.
Second lap. No brakes. Pure chaos.
Meanwhile, near the last checkpoint of the original lap, the six agents ran in their disciplined rhythm.
Angela, the agent who had helped the boys earlier, frowned. "Where are the rookies? Did they already pass this checkpoint? I barely noticed any tracks…"
"Maybe they went off-route?" another agent offered, looking concerned.
"Argh. These amateurs! Did we overdo it by bringing them into this track?" one groaned. "Hopefully they don't run into any black panthers or tigers out here… Damn—I completely forgot about that."
"Don't jinx it, man. Ugh. Nick, check the tracker," Angela said, tightening her ponytail.
They had passed 45 minutes since the mission started. The boys had overtaken them almost 35 minutes ago—and no sign since.
"Could they really have gone that far?" another agent muttered.
Well… they had. They were practically flying. They'd left almost no footprints behind.
Nick's frown deepened, though he masked it well. Serve them right if they meet wild animals, he thought coldly. Then aloud: "I didn't bring the tracking tablet. Battery was dead. We rarely use it."
The group paused at the final checkpoint—just two more kilometers to finish.
Jim, one of the more grounded agents, turned to him. "Look, I get it—you've got beef with them. You brought them here to teach a lesson. But we still follow protocol. Call HQ and get the tracker. They're just kids, you know."
Then—sounds.
Something was coming.
Fast.
The forest shifted. Leaves trembled. Vines danced.
"What the hell is that?" Angela hissed, drawing her knife. "Elephant rampage?"
All six agents dropped into combat stance. Years of reflex training kicked in. The rumble grew closer.
"It's coming!" she barked.
And then—
Two shadows soared over them.
Blurs with barely a step—bodies crouched low, arms pulled behind, velocity unnatural.
They passed overhead—nearly skimming the treetops—before disappearing into the jungle ahead like meteor ghosts.
Silence.
Utter silence.
"…Tell me," Angela finally breathed. "Was that them?"
"Shit… was that the Naruto run?" Jim mumbled.
Nick stood there. Blank.
Expression: removed from soul.
Back at the starting point, the boys tumbled onto the grass, panting hard. Sweat soaked through their clothes.
They'd finished their second lap.
Time: 15 minutes.
Total time used: 50 minutes.
"I'm gonna do this again tomorrow," Danny wheezed, eyes bright. "That felt so damn good."
"Yeah," Samuel laughed. "But that last lap? We overdid it. Did you see their faces when we passed them again? They just froze."
"Bro, I didn't even see their faces. I was so freaked out jumping past them that I nearly tripped. Like—why were they just standing there in the middle of the jungle?"
"I did think we should've brought flashlights," Samuel admitted. "But it was clear enough."
Suddenly, Hell's Order voice echoed in their minds.
That is because your visual capacity has been enhanced. Both enforcers now possess beast-grade night vision. Hell Enforcers are forged to hunt in darkness and shadow. Nothing shall escape your sight.
Their eyes sparkled.
"Bro," Danny whispered in his mind. "We are practically superheroes."
"Superhumans dipped in Hellfire," Samuel replied.
They laughed—and just then, the rest of the agents started appearing from the trees one by one, breathless and stunned.
They froze at the sight.
Two rookies. Sitting on the ground. Laughing. Soaked in sweat. Smiling like they'd conquered Olympus.
No one said a word.
The image of two bodies flying over their heads still played on repeat in their minds.
Angela watched them silently. Curiosity burning in her eyes. Maybe they really are special… like Agent Vick predicted.
Danny noticed her staring.
He stood up, grinned, and asked sweetly, "Aunty, can we press the stop button now?"
The goodwill blooming in Angela's heart… died immediately.
Her fingers twitched like she wanted to slap him with her shoe.
The other agents burst out laughing.
Seeing her sour expression, Samuel jumped in. "Sorry! Sorry, beautiful sister! My friend still thinks he's a toddler. Please forgive him!"
Angela gritted her teeth. "You don't call us sister, aunty, or uncle. We're agents. Got that?"
"Yes, Agent!" they both replied in sync, saluting dramatically.
Angela stared.
Then she sighed.
God help us all, she thought. "These two really look like troublemakers. Hopefully i won't be assigned any task with them." she prayed in her hearts.
To Be Continued.
