Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau
Chapter 73 - 56: Never Stand Out
CHAPTER 73: CHAPTER 56: NEVER STAND OUT
Lawrence Winters understood the post, and her previously anxious heart was instantly relieved.
She didn’t even feel guilty for a second.
Anyway, she wasn’t going to go on the forum to clarify for Molly Zimmerman; it would be great if someone misunderstood.
If Molly Zimmerman doesn’t like people spreading rumors, she just needs to show up and deny it herself.
It’s not a big deal.
Lawrence Winters had just applied the essential oil on her face when her phone rang.
It was a call from Kenneth Osborne.
Lawrence quickly put on her Bluetooth headset, draped her down jacket, and went out to the balcony.
Molly Zimmerman was sleeping; she didn’t want to wake her.
The balcony of the girls’ dormitory at Metropolitan North University is not enclosed, so it’s very cold on winter nights.
But Lawrence had just taken a bath and was wrapped in her down jacket, so she was still warm.
She answered the call, and through the Bluetooth headset came Kenneth Osborne’s clear voice, slightly magnetic. As a young man’s voice, it wasn’t that mature and deep yet, but it had a lively charm that made hearts flutter.
"Nora, did you see that tall building on the campus forum? I just wanted to explain that I don’t have a girlfriend." He said subtly.
Lawrence hadn’t expected Kenneth to call specifically to clarify, and she laughed: "You don’t need to explain; I know. It’s not a big deal. I’m warning you, don’t tell anyone it was me who went to dinner with you."
Everything went as Kenneth expected.
He smiled wryly and nodded, saying: "Alright. I just didn’t want you to misunderstand. I can’t be bothered to explain to others."
Lawrence said lightly: "That’s more like it! How can a boyfriend-girlfriend matter be established by mere rumor?"
"Our school is not the entertainment industry. Things are chaotic there... Let me tell you, rumors in the entertainment industry are all true!"
Kenneth was slightly taken aback: "...How do you know? Are you familiar with the entertainment circle?"
Lawrence thought, I’m not familiar, but my uncle and I have done feng shui consultations for people in the entertainment industry more than once...
Just not for any superstars, mostly minor or mid-tier celebrities and small-time idol actors.
She said offhandedly: "Not really familiar, but I browse Weibo and TikTok every day, so I know a bit."
Seeing Lawrence really didn’t care, Kenneth finally breathed a sigh of relief.
As for that tall building on the campus forum, he couldn’t be bothered to clarify.
First, no one mentioned by name who the girl was.
Secondly, if he rushed to explain, it would just give response credit to them.
There are many rumors about him at school; if he paid attention to all of them, could he still complete his master’s degree in three and a half years?
His time is very precious.
As long as those he cares about don’t misunderstand him, it’s fine.
Moreover, he had already spoken to the campus web manager, saying he didn’t want to see any more "news" with names mentioned.
Kenneth laughed and asked: "Have you chosen all your courses? Tomorrow I’ll take you to recognize the classroom and get ready for class?"
"No!" Lawrence immediately objected, "If you come, you’ll just get surrounded by people, and I can’t handle that."
"...Yesterday was an accident. I’ve already talked to a few editors on the campus web." Kenneth quickly explained, "Besides, today it’s because it’s the first day of school and everyone is free. Once classes formally start tomorrow, you’ll see what students at Met are really like."
Lawrence responded with a couple of sounds, but still declined Kenneth’s offer to be her "guide."
She wanted to first get familiar with things herself, and once everyone was accustomed to her, they wouldn’t make such a fuss when she occasionally had dinner with Kenneth.
Students at Met are big fans of Kenneth Osborne, but their standards aren’t that low.
After hanging up, Lawrence returned to the warm dorm room, only to find her hands and feet numb from the cold.
Even though she wore a down jacket, unfortunately it was short.
Lawrence took off this trouble-causing down jacket, deciding never to wear it again.
Or wait until the school adopts the "same style" down jacket, then wear it later.
She wouldn’t be the bird sticking its head out to get shot.
After 9 p.m., Molly and Crazy Girl finally came back.
As soon as they came in, they turned on the lights and rubbed their hands, saying repeatedly: "So cold! Today’s really cold!"
Lawrence looked up from her iPad from her top bunk.
"Gee? Molly, you dyed your hair? Granny gray really suits you," Lawrence complimented.
Molly proudly tossed her newly cut short hair with her hand, "Pretty, right? The cut, dye, and styling cost me two grand!"
"Wow, truly good things aren’t cheap!" Lawrence echoed fittingly, continuing the praise.
