CHAPTER 731: CHAPTER 582: CRISIS (EXTRA FOR SILVER ALLIANCE LEADER ARAIN) (FOURTH UPDATE)
It seemed not quite satisfying, as the III-type Black Thorn Insect turned its head toward the crowd running away in fear.
A fierce light shone from its eyes!
At that moment, the guards of Yanas Kingdom at the scene saw the Monster turn its head, raised their Beam Guns, started firing, and roared simultaneously.
"Run!"
The beams that hit the Black Thorn Insect only slightly scorched its tough skin, inflicting no substantial damage.
On the contrary, it angered the Black Thorn Insect, which then turned its head and opened its mouth, quickly accumulating a green beam.
"Go!"
Su Mo shouted.
Mina and others immediately snapped back to reality and dashed into an alley.
The next second, a terrifying green beam swept across!
A massive explosion burst behind Su Mo and others in the street.
Little Mila and Xiao Ruo, held by Su Mo, were freaking out and crying, clinging tightly around Su Mo’s neck.
"It’s okay, don’t cry."
As he ran, Su Mo gently soothed them both. Crying was normal, of course; under such circumstances, not just children but even battle-hardened individuals like him felt overwhelmed.
Without weapons and equipment, being targeted by a Monster meant certain death.
As they ran, Rose coolly said to Su Mo.
"Su Mo, we must speed up and head to the shelter. Look overhead; more Monsters are pouring in."
"I know, run faster, we’re not far from the shelter."
Su Mo could only reply, steeling himself.
Right now, there simply wasn’t any good solution but to run!
Actually, if it weren’t for the crowd they led, just Rose and Su Mo could have already been miles away.
Their current running speed was limited, depending on Mina’s grandfather and some of the older children; they couldn’t run as fast as they wanted.
At that moment, Fake Owner · Devourer’s real-time scanning range image thumbnail appeared in Su Mo’s mind.
Su Mo immediately saw numerous red dots, at least a hundred, representing a hundred Monsters that had burst in in the blink of an eye. Among them, two red dots were especially large, at least a type IV level.
And that wasn’t even the worst part; Su Mo saw a small red dot moving toward them.
"Watch out!"
Before Su Mo could finish speaking,
a type II Black Thorn Insect flew in from a side street, opened its hideous mouth showing sharp Insect Teeth, and emitted a piercing roar.
Su Mo and the others instinctively stepped back as he swallowed hard.
It was over.
Just then, a thunderous sound erupted.
A comparatively large, type II Giant Steel Mecha burst through the side stone wall, brutally slamming into the Black Thorn Insect.
The entire Giant Steel Mecha stood fourteen meters tall, its body clad in exceedingly thick armor, radiating a daunting presence. It sported a Heavy Alloy Blade around its waist, a 50MM caliber giant cannon on its right shoulder, and triangular auxiliary gliding wings and a jet pack mounted on its back.
The Heavy Mecha firmly pinned down the Black Thorn Insect, raised its gigantic steel fist, and relentlessly pounded on its head with punch after punch, fearlessly finishing it off.
"Captain!"
Mina saw the Mecha and cried out in delight.
The Giant Steel Mecha turned to look at Mina and the others, and then Anli’s voice came through.
"Follow me, I’ll take you to the shelter!"
"Okay."
Mina nodded eagerly in response.
Su Mo and the others followed Anli as they ran towards the refuge point.
Along the way, they saw more and more bewildered refugees.
At that moment, Anli called out to the fleeing people, "Everyone, follow me, I will take you to the refuge point."
Even Mina joined in, shouting, "Hurry up and follow us, we are the regular troops!"
The originally panicked crowd, upon seeing the Mecha, rushed to follow them as if they had seen a savior.
Very soon, the small group of refugees led by Su Mo swelled into a large mass.
Seeing this, Su Mo’s heart sank.
This was not a good thing, as the saying goes, the larger the group, the bigger the target, and it wouldn’t be long before they were spotted.
Of course, Su Mo couldn’t say anything about it.
After all, these refugees were the citizens of the Yanas Kingdom, and Anli had the duty to protect them all.
All they could do now was to pray that their luck would hold and they wouldn’t encounter any more monsters.
Su Mo glanced at the damaged mirrors in the distance; occasionally, he could see one or two monster figures sneaking in. Although it wasn’t as frequent as before, it indicated that the situation outside was not optimistic, with some stragglers breaking through.
Su Mo also noticed that in various places around Green Gore City, intense explosions were heard, indicating that the defensive forces had mobilized and begun their extermination.
However, the situation did not seem very optimistic.
That was because, in some areas where the sound of gunfire started, it died down quickly, and according to the holographic reconnaissance images provided by the Fake Owner, the Swallower, red dots in those areas did not disappear.
That meant, the forces sent for extermination were likely defeated.
This, of course, was normal; managing to mobilize troops into the city at short notice was already a difficult task. Moreover, most of the deployed forces had been assigned to defend against the two Type IV monsters, restraining them.
Naturally, there were no spare forces to handle these scattered other insects.
They could only let them wreak havoc for the time being.
"Pick up the pace, some insects are catching up from behind,"
the deep voice of the Fake Owner, the Swallower, suddenly interrupted Su Mo’s thoughts.
Su Mo’s heart sank, as expected, they had been targeted, and he spoke up to warn.
"Mina, we need to speed up,"
"Ah okay, everyone hurry,"
Mina blinked, then nodded in agreement.
A Type II insect landed at the back of the fleeing crowd, opened its mouth, and engulfed two or three people, pulling them back and brutally crushing them.
"Ah!"
A horrific scream, accompanied by splashing blood, erupted.
"Bastards!"
Anli, seeing this scene, became furious, and controlled the Giant Steel Mecha, preparing to rush over.
Then two more Type II insects landed among the refugees, carrying out a massacre.
"Help!"
Desperate cries for help continued to rise.
"Damn it, what are the peripheral defense troops doing, letting so many monsters in,"
Anli, now frantic, roared angrily.
Facing three at once, Anli was also somewhat at a loss. In space, Anli wouldn’t fear them at all, but the combat environment here meant he couldn’t engage freely.
If it were purely a brawl, he did not have much confidence.
But even so, Anli was prepared to fight; he controlled the Mecha, ready to charge forward.
At that moment, Su Mo saw what Anli was about to do and immediately understood his intention. He shouted at Anli, "Don’t think about brawling, use thermal weapons! You don’t stand a chance against three!"
