CHAPTER 893: CHAPTER 683: PREPARATIONS (PART 3)
Soon Su Mo and the others arrived at the transparent observation area above the production room.
Through the partitioned glass, one could see brand-new machines inside, engaged in batch production.
Women wearing sterile protective clothing were organizing semi-finished products, conducting sorting and refining, among a series of production processes, everything in order.
Su Mo watched this scene and turned to Qian Chengxue to speak.
"How many employees do we have in total?"
"Over two hundred thousand, all veterans. Although the company has been recruiting over the years, not many newcomers have truly come on board because the competition for talent is too fierce."
"Let’s take it slow."
Su Mo maintained a calm mindset.
Just then, Qian Chengxue’s phone rang.
She glanced at the phone, answered it, and walked aside.
"Father....."
Su Mo stood in place, gazing at the multitude of workers in production, and couldn’t help but fall into thought.
In fact, it’s no wonder Qian Chengxue is so driven. Don’t overlook the current products of the Chenxi Group being quite good. With the rapid pace of progress nowadays, if one doesn’t capitalize hard while money can be made, it won’t be long before progress leaves one potentially obsolete.
How would one support so many siblings by then?
Su Mo somewhat understood the pressure on Qian Chengxue.
He couldn’t help but ponder the transportation matters, according to the information Qian Chengxue provided, the official interstellar route, though safe, definitely harbors risks.
The problem is that the money he has at hand seems to be almost exhausted; where could he get a decent weapon?
Su Mo was momentarily at a loss.
Just then, Qian Chengxue returned, she looked at Su Mo’s pondering face and asked curiously.
"What is Su Mo thinking about?"
"Nothing, just some things. How about you, did something happen?"
Su Mo snapped back to reality and asked.
"Nothing really, my master knows I returned to Earth Star and asks me to come home for dinner, care to join me?"
Qian Chengxue asked expectantly.
Upon hearing this, Su Mo was a bit scattered and asked, "Your master asked you home for dinner, is it to the Lin Family?"
"Yes, don’t you want to go?"
Qian Chengxue nodded in response.
"Not really."
Su Mo’s mouth twitched for a moment, recalling the previous beatdown he gave Lin Yaotian upon their first meeting. Originally, this was nothing. But as he considers that those absurd tabloid rumors might be true, with the master possibly being his father, wouldn’t that make him the father-in-law? The more he thought about it, the more headache he got.
"Then it’s settled. Once I arrange things here, we’ll go for dinner."
Qian Chengxue directly made the decision.
Su Mo saw how happy Qian Chengxue was and could only reluctantly respond.
"Alright."
Of course, internally, he was vehemently unwilling.
"I’ll go arrange things first, feel free to take a stroll."
Qian Chengxue advised before leaving.
Su Mo wandered around the factory alone, and just then his phone vibrated.
He glanced at it, and a message popped up.
"The weather is nice today, how is it over there? Why haven’t you replied to my messages? Just to let you know, my father’s illness has significantly improved, soon I’ll be able to return."
Su Mo looked at the message and fell into contemplation.
After a long while, Su Mo composed a message in reply.
"Sorry, I’ve been on an interstellar voyage and couldn’t receive your messages. Just returned recently, but might set out again soon, give my regards to your father."
"No worries, I guessed you must’ve gone on the interstellar voyage, glad you’re okay."
"Thank you, I have things to attend to, chat later."
After sending the message, Su Mo took a deep breath.
.....
In the evening, Qian Chengxue drove a silver car, carrying Su Mo toward the high walls of the Imperial City.
Su Mo looked at the scenery outside the window.
The nighttime view of the Imperial City was even more lively than during the day.
Su Mo coughed and tried to inquire, "Xue’er, may I ask you a question, what’s really going on between you and the Lin Family? Is your master truly your biological father?"
Qian Chengxue showed a complicated expression and said, "Actually, my master is my real biological father. I was also very shocked when I learned about this, feeling it unbelievable."
Su Mo was astounded upon hearing that.
"What’s this all about?"
"Actually, it’s like this, my birth mother’s status in the Lin Family was not very stable, giving birth to a girl in her first pregnancy, making it hard to secure a standing within the family. My foster mother was a humble maid, always being unwelcomed after entering the Ye Family and secretly involved with the family head, then gave birth to a son. Moreover, my mother and birth mother were classmates, one fearing premature death the other unstable status, after discussion they swapped."
Qian Chengxue said somewhat downheartedly.
Indeed, Qian Chengxue believed it upon opening the gemstone pendant left by the foster mother and discovering her foster mother’s final words within.
Su Mo heard this and felt internally conflicted.
With a slight thought, he understood the rationale, one needing a son to consolidate her position, the other fearing her son being unwanted and potentially killed in the family, preferring to exchange with her friend for a better future.
Such an absurd move yet reflects reality.
However, Qian Chengxue ended up being the most pitiful victim in this arrangement.
"Did your master find out?"
"Yes, eventually he discovered it. But at that point, it was already a foregone conclusion, and he couldn’t reveal the truth, so he became my master."
Qian Chengxue deeply sighed and said.
"How did this eventually get exposed?"
