CHAPTER 32: DUNGEON IN DUNGEON (1) : HELL, ANCIENT DEVILS

Seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. Year

Matt felt himself swallowed by darkness, death calling to him. He didn’t know how long he was in his state before he regained himself.

Matt’s eyes snapped open; all he could see was darkness. His surroundings gave him chills.

"Where am I?" Confusion filled Matt’s head before everything that happened flashed in his mind.

His entire body shook, and his eyes burned with hatred. He never thought he had misjudged someone as his friend.

Someone who he thought was a friend betrayed him at the last moment because of a girl. If he had known, the time Brad was almost falling from the bridge, he should not have rescued them, allowing him to die.

His thought went to Eira. Would she be able to withstand his death? He knows that she’s a bit fragile.

He also remembered that the Devil hadn’t died; his body shook, worried about Eira’s danger.

He moved his lying body in the darkness as he slowly stood. "Am I dead?" He felt confused by this immense darkness.

CLICK! CRACK!

As he stood up, Matt felt he had stepped on something and cracked it. He looked below him, and his body shook in fear.

He jumped backwards in fear with his heart racing. What he stepped on was a skull.A human skull.

With his enhanced sight, he could still see around one meter in front of him clearly.

He didn’t know why he felt the urge to look at his surroundings; he did so, and he regretted it His body shook in dread; everything around him was filled with broken skeletons,

’Where am I?’ Matt thought he had a bad feeling about where he was now,

’Is this hell?" He was confused.

Matt couldn’t move due to fear; he looked at his surroundings again, only darkness and skeletons.

"Hello," he shouted, but all he heard was his echo.

He looked at his body; he was healed, his clothes were stained with blood, and the watch was still on his hands.

Seeing all of this made him realize that he was still alive, but how and where was he?

Matt immediately tried to operate his watch, as it was his only hope for him to leave here by contacting the academy.

But when he operated it, it didn’t work; it was like a dead item. This made Matt realize that he’s in a big problem.

’I still have to find a way out of here. Eira, Mia is still waiting for me, and also I haven’t discovered what happened to Mom and Dad.’Matt’s thoughts wandered, realizing that he had to find a way out.

He looked at the darkness in front the only thing he could do was go forward.

Matt continued to walk; the more he headed deeper into the darkness, the more skeletons he saw, and the more eerie everything was.

Matt wondered what was happening here for such skeletons to be here.

His entire body kept shaking, and feeling goosebumps, he began to regret entering deep.

He doesn’t know whether he’s entering deep into whatever enemy trap that was before him.

He kept on walking; he didn’t know how many minutes he had been walking. In here, he felt as if time didn’t exist; the only thing he could do.

As he walked, he saw a flash of light, which rejuvenated him; he’s finally escaping from darkness to light.

But is he?

When Matt reached the light area, he saw that darkness doesn’t dare enter the range.

He looked around; within just one meter, it was there he saw a signpost, which made him realize that his trouble was just starting.

"Brethren from Afar, welcome to Hell."

On the sign board was this written in blood; Matt’s mind wasn’t able to take it.

’Is this truly hell? Matt cried out internally, strength leaving his body.

"This is a dungeon where ninety-nine ancient devils are sealed."

Matt read the next sentence, and when he saw the part "dungeon," his mind calmed down, but seeing "ancient devils"

He coughed out blood due to fear. According to Teacher Elizabeth, ancient devils are the first devils to appear on Earth; even their ancestors weren’t able to tackle them all.

If not for them setting up a trap for the ancient devils, they wouldn’t have been able to kill them all.

It seems he had to turn back; there was no way a weak being like him could battle against a being like Ancient Devil.

"If you turn back to the darkness, you will be swallowed by it. Your only way is to go forward. And you have a minute to leave her."

It was as if the signboard knew what Matt was thinking. The words made him shake; he smiled bitterly as his only way is to go forward.

He realized all the bones he stepped on were humans who tried to go back into the darkness. This made him feel chills.

How many humans had entered this dungeon, and they all died? He slumped to the ground, wondering whether he should give up.

He now knew why this place was called Hell.

And he can’t even stay here for more than a minute, or something bad might happen, which was likely death.

It was indeed hell As Matt was thinking of what to do, the figures of Eira and Mia flashed through his mind; he exhaled,

"If I perish, I perish, but there’s no way I will without trying." These words were said by Matt to give him confidence.

He stepped forward, looking at the light once again, before he stepped into the thick darkness before him.

There were no skeletons this time, but his body was still feeling chills. He walked, not knowing where he was going; time was still nonexistent to him.

Matt kept imagining Eira and Mia to relieve his boredom until he got to his destination.

A large open space that surprised him,

"Human!"
