CHAPTER 46: ANCIENT ICE DEVIL CLONE

The Devil stood before Matt, its form tall and slender, shaped like a human but unmistakably otherworldly.

Its skin was a smooth, pale glacier-blue, so clear in some places that faint lines of frozen veins could be seen beneath the surface, glowing faintly like trapped winter light.

Its eyes were its most chilling feature—four cold-blue orbs, arranged with two on each side of the face.

They had no pupils, no emotion, only a deep, frozen stillness. Anyone who met those eyes felt their thoughts slow, as if freezing from the inside.

Two thin, sharp horns rose from its forehead, curved slightly backward.

They were made of pure, translucent ice, each horn filled with swirling frost that never melted, as if a miniature blizzard lived inside them.

Its hair was long, pale silver, flowing lightly as if touched by a constant winter breeze even when the air was still. The strands glittered like frost under moonlight.

Across its shoulders and spine, natural armor had grown—smooth ice plates layered like the scales of frozen reptiles. These plates glimmered faintly, reflecting light in cold fragments.

Its arms were long and elegant but devilish in their structure.

The fingers ended in sharp, icicle-like claws—crystal-clear, hard as diamond, and constantly releasing cold mist. When it flexed them, tiny crackling sounds came from the ice.

Its legs were lean but strong, built for swift movement. The joints were slightly sharpened with ice ridges, and every step it took layered the ground with a thin sheet of frost.

A thin, jagged ice tail extended from its lower back—long, flexible, and edged with frost spikes. It moved slowly behind it, leaving a cold trail in the air.

Its chest rose and fell with slow breaths, each exhale releasing a wave of icy vapor that dimmed the surroundings. Even the air around its body seemed heavier, colder, as though winter itself gathered around it.

When Matt saw the Devil before him, he confirmed his thoughts, but he was also surprised by the appearance; it wasn’t as devilish as he expected, but on the contrary, it looked elegant and like a beautiful piece of art.

"Human breath, when last had I seen a human?" An unexpected female voice came out from the mouth of the devil before him.

Matt now understood why it was looking elegant. All the ancient devils he had met were males; their voices were thick. He never expected that he would meet a female devil.

It’s surprising.

He could see the excitement, the longing, and how a predator looks at prey. This made Matt laugh internally; he was like a fool in someone’s eyes.

He couldn’t hide it any longer, laughing out loud. He didn’t know why he thought it was funny to him.

The Devil looked at him, that gaze disappearing and becoming cold.

"Human, I know what you are thinking. It seems you are strong, confident in your strength, and able to defeat me. My gaze felt like a joke to you, am I right?"

The Ice Devil turned to Matt, a smile on its face. Matt’s laughter paused. He looked at the Ice Devil before him. It seemed that the devil in front of him was different from the ones he had fought.

He could feel confidence emanating from the Ice Devil in front of him, but his expression didn’t change; he had more confidence in himself.

Two cold gazes clashed against one another.

"Human, no matter what your strength is, before me you are helpless. I know you have defeated that idiot Pyro," the Ice Devil snorted.

Matt frowned, looking at the Ice Devil confused, he thought of numerous things, and it clicked.

The Ice Devil looked at Matt; it seemed to know that Matt had figured out its situation.

"You are the Ancient Ice Devil, right?" Matt looked at the figure before him, who nodded at his words.

His words didn’t stop at this; he thought of things. If the devil before it was an ancient ice devil, the one sealed, how did it get and escape the seal?

Matt didn’t think that the seal was so weak that it was able to escape; even the Ancient Blade Devil wasn’t able to escape.

He thought of numerous things and settled on one thing.

Matt’s eyes glowed with strange light looking at the ancient ice devil. He held his chin. "You are a clone, right?"His lips curled up into a smile.

The Ancient Ice Devil looked at the human before it; it looked like the human before it was smarter than it thought.

"You are right, I am a clone...." It said his aura didn’t change, but it was increasing.

"... You know that me being a clone doesn’t change the fate of you dying." Its aura increased, devilish energy thicker than the Ancient Flame Devil was emitted by it.

At first it looked like a Devil Emperor Devil, but as its aura increased, the Cultivation broke through the Ancient Devil Realm.

It didn’t stop there, increasing until the amount of the devilish energy released was more than twice the Ancient Flame Devil’s.

Matt was surprised by this change; just a clone was stronger than that of the Ancient Flame Devil. It seems the Ancient Ice Devil wasn’t busy playing as it was sealed.

The Ancient Ice Devil folded its hands together, its gaze turned to Matt, and the next moment, it appeared in front of Matt, its fist punching at him.

Matt sensed this, crossing his hands together before his body, a way of guarding against the attack. The fist of the Ancient Ice Devil sent Matt flying.

His body hit the ground, tumbling; he could see the vast difference between his human strength and the Ancient Ice Devil Clone.

His hands were uninjured, only drops of blood dripping from his mouth showing that he was injured.

The hands he thought were uninjured froze into ice. The Ancient Ice Devil looked at them, raising its finger snapping them together.

Matt’s frozen hands shattered into ice dust; he stood armless, blood couldn’t flow out as it was partially frozen already.

Matt didn’t look shocked at this, no panic nor fear, only excitement.

The Ancient Ice Devil looked at Matt. "I’m sure this isn’t all you’ve got, or how can you defeat the Pyro? Even though he’s an idiot, he can’t be easily defeated."

Matt looked at the Ancient Ice Devil. "You really talk a lot."

He snorted, activating the Ancient Flame Devil bloodline; flame burned out from both his arms, his hands regenerating back in the flame.

Matt stretched his hands, looked at the Ancient Ice Devil, and said, "Since you know the Ancient Flame Devil, you should know this."

Matt smirked, his human body began to change, ancient devilish energy was released from Matt, his human form twisted, and flame burned all over his body as he transformed into an Ancient Flame Devil.

The Ancient Ice Devil saw this and was stumped, "What are you? Who are you?" It roared at Matt; confusion beguiled it.

Matt smiled at this; this was the same question that the Ancient Flame Devil asked him.

"Are you scared?" Matt laughed out loud. He paused. Two clusters of flames burned fiercely. "Don’t worry, this is the beginning of your fear."

The Ancient Ice Devil didn’t know why it felt chills from Matt’s words, looking at the Ancient Flame Devil’s body.

"Oh, as for your question, do you really want to know the answer? The Ancient Flame Devil asked this, and it died," Matt kept on striking fear of the Ancient Ice Devil.

The shock of the Ancient Ice Devil became stronger, fear gripping its heart for a moment before it forcibly suppressed those emotions.

Its four eyes became colder than before, emotionless. "Human, do you think you can deceive me with your illusions? You humans are known for your treachery, cunningness, and intelligence. There’s no way you could fool me."

Matt heard the words of the Ancient Ice Devil and couldn’t help but burst into laughter, "You think that I am deceiving you,"

He felt this was hilarious; the Ancient Ice Devil doesn’t want to believe the fact that he was human and devil.

"For your question, what am I? I am still searching for the answer, but you can call me a human...." Matt’s voice sounded human-like.

"... And also a devil." His voice turned devilish, a devil that came from the pits of hell.

"Who am I?"

Matt’s voice became deep, distorted laughter, thick with madness. He just felt like this whenever he said these words.

"I am the terror whispered by humans, the calamity feared by devils. Both tremble when my shadow falls—for I am an existence even fear itself dreads, the very nightmare of heaven."

The Ancient Ice Devil Clone shook at the words of Matt; it felt horror from the words. It was still confused about how Matt is a human or devil; it’s something more magical to them than cultivation.

Matt didn’t know the thought of the Ancient Ice Devil; he looked at it, saying in an authoritative voice,

"You have two choices before you: submit to me or die."
