CHAPTER 50: MILITARY EXPEDITION

Requiem Academy.

Numerous changes had happened; the new set of students had awakened their Requiem. Surprisingly, those that awakened D-Rank Talent, more than fifty percent, had awakened their Requiem, gained their class, and begun the path of Cultivation.

Three months had passed since Eira felt that strange pain that shook her to the soul; in total, six months had passed since Matt had been deemed dead.

Who would remember someone who was trash?

Everyone had forgotten about that figure; only one person remembered, standing by her window side, looking at the shining moon.

Since that moment, Eira had become cold; her heart looked like it was frozen, as her eyes beheld no emotion.

After the incident of her feeling Matt’s death, she became colder; even the teachers, she had no emotion, even detested them.

But the teachers didn’t think much of it; they were thinking that in the future she would realize their painstaking efforts. They were even glad by the fact that Matt died when they inquired about him and found out that his talent was the lowest level—trash talent.

Eira didn’t go home after the academy gave them a leave after the dungeon raid.

She was too scared to see Mia when she asked of her brother, Matt. What was she going to say? She didn’t protect him at all as she promised to her.

Her parents knew about the news of Matt’s death; even though they grieved, they kept the news from Mia.

Six months had passed since the dungeon raid, and the students once again gathered in the academy square; of course, only those who had awakened their Requiem came.

Kimberly with the boys stood before the students, Kaein with his blindfold, Charles with his book, and Daniel just stood beside Kimberly looking at the students.

This time they were the ones in charge,

"Good morning, everyone," Kimberly smiled, looking at students.

The students were enthusiastic as they replied back to her .

"How’s everyone’s Requiem cultivation going?" She asked, and the whole crowd burst into murmurs.

"Ok, ok, now all of you should remember the dungeon raid you went to six months ago." The students nodded at her words, looking at her as they wondered why she brought this up.

"This time you are going on a real expedition of exterminating devils, not like the one you fought in the dungeon where their strength was sealed."

The entire crowd of students fell silent; some were shocked, helpless, or curious, while some were silent, with no changes in their expression, confident in themselves and their strength.

"The expedition takes nine months, and it’s a life-or-death situation; no mercy to the devils. If the dungeon raid was a playground, the expedition is a battleground. Tomorrow morning, we will go, so use the rest of the day to prepare."

Kimberly said, dispersing the crowd of students, each went back to the hostel. Due to the expedition tomorrow, there were no lectures, giving them enough time to prepare.

Eira’s expression didn’t change, but her heart burned with hatred and anticipation. After Matt’s death, she had vowed to exterminate all devils; her heart was itching for their death.

Where she lived in the academy was far different from the other students.

That separate house, which felt like a mini mansion, had one of the most concentrated Originats in the academy; it was a dream hostel to the students.

She eats the richest food in the school, and it’s free to her; all resources are given to her if she needs them. All the students wish to be friends, but Eira always separates herself from other students and gives them a cold shoulder.

Even with this, seventy percent of the students revered her, and she was the number one beauty in the academy, even among the seniors.The next morning, Eira dressed in a silver dress, matching her silver hair and eyes. Her cold eyes wandered her room; she looked at the walls of her room where Matt’s picture was hung.

In the picture, he was smiling, still young, and seven years old. Her cheeks became red, her eyes melted, warm and teary.

Her smile was so shocking that if any student saw it, they would be shocked to death.

She removed the picture from the wall, putting it in her luggage. Her hands had two wristbands belonging to Matt.

After the dungeon raid, she took his belongings; no one objected to it, just watching her.

These two wristbands were found among his luggage; they were a pair, which made her realize Matt might have gotten it for her and him.

She wore both to remember Matt, making her feel that he was close to her.

Going to her wardrobe, she opened it, brought out a male cloth, took a sniff, and her entire face felt relaxed.

This was one of Matt’s clothes. If anyone saw this, they would shake at her obsessiveness with Matt; she can’t still forget him.

She took the cloth, which was a black top, and another top, which makes it two clothes, she added it to her luggage.

Confirming she had packed what she needed, she stretched her right hand forward; the academic watch glowed, sucking her luggage.

Of course, her watch was different from the others; it was designed to be a watch, but in reality, it was like a system, having AI functions, holographic screens that showed her status, and many more features.

With this, she headed to the academy square, where it was proposed they meet today.

When she got there, there were a lot of students there; she was the last batch of the students who came.

Kimberly, Charles, Daniel, and Kaien stood in front of the students, seeing that they were all prepared and all the students had arrived.

They moved, the academy square began to glow, and runes appeared on the ground, glowing with blue light, with unknown characters written on them.

The students were shocked by this, not expecting that the academy square had a formation rune installed in it.

The formation rune was activated, teleporting them. All the students disappeared, including Kimberly, Charles, Daniel, and Kaein.

The academy returned to their silence.

Most teachers saw these scenes; some sighed, "I wonder how many students would come back alive."

Close to 500 students had gone for this expedition; their fate was in their hands.

The students felt dizzy, finding themselves in a totally new environment; some vomited, unable to take it. Eira felt dizzy for a moment and looked at her surroundings.

She could feel depression in the air and the killing aura that lingered in the surroundings. When she looked beside her, what she saw was camps and numerous soldiers who looked at them.

The soldiers wore a long-sleeved black jacket with a high collar reinforced sleeves and shoulders for protection, dark combat pants with knee guards, fingerless gloves for grip, and heavy black boots for rough terrains.

Their uniform had their unit symbol on their left arm and ID tag on their right arm.

All the students had gotten themselves, and they also saw this, which made them solemn.

"Now welcome to the border, where devils and humans are separated. If you go beyond here, it’s the devil terrain, and to our back, it’s human terrain," Daniel talked this time. The students realized that it was truly a life-or-death expedition.

"Every continent has their army, and this is the Southern Continent Army (SCA). For the next nine months, you will train here and start as an army cadet," he added.

"Also, you aren’t the only academy attending this military training; expect to meet students from the other two academies," Kimberly said, her words shaking the students for a moment.
