CHAPTER 51: MILITARY EXPEDITION (2)

The government on Earth made it compulsory that all Requiem Awakeners during their academy life must go through military training.

They do not raise sheep or rabbits, who are prey, but wolves lions, who are predators.

This is to wear away the innocence that they have and make them realize the true cruelty of this world.

For them to become hunters and not cower before the devils.

And the most important of it all, to defend their home from the hands of the devils.

Each of the armies consists of Requiem Awakeners; regardless of what talent you have, as long as you awaken your Requiem, you can enlist in the army.

There are different ranks in the army.

Cadet, being the lowest rank.

Soldier, identified with a military star on their uniform and ID card.

Senior Soldier, identified with two military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Squad leader, identified with three military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Captain, identified with four military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Commander, identified with five military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Special Ops Captain, identified with six military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Elite Devil Hunter, identified with eight military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Grand Commander, identified with ten military stars on their uniform and ID card.

Division Marshal, identified with twelve military stars on their uniform and ID card.

War-General, the highest rank, was identified with fifteen military stars on their uniform and ID card.

To gain a star, it’s not really about strength but about contributions you have accumulated. But to get a star, many contributions should have been accumulated.

As a result, there were only three War-General in the Southern Continent.

Their strength is unfathomable, standing at the peak of the continent.

The students of Requiem Academy were led to the camp that was before them.

Their harsh life had started. Some regretted the fact that they came for the expedition.

They had to share the tents with others too, and even though they were familiar with it, in such a place, it was challenging to do so.

Eira was an exception, but her tent was still the same as everyone else’s. Only the fact that she stays alone in the tent.

After offloading their luggage and taking a small rest, they were called out once again.

Most of them grumbled and had to hide it when they saw the stern look of Kimberly.

Their mind was caught by the dress of Kimberly and the boys.

They had changed into uniform; this wasn’t what caught them, but the stars embedded in it.

There were ten stars, glowing under the shining sun. Some rubbed their eyes, unable to believe such a scene.

So the instructors before them were Grand Commanders; their jaws dropped, their minds processing what they saw.

Kimberly nodded at this; what she wanted was happening.

The students eyes glowed, their determination increased for such a rank.

"This expedition is compulsory for all students, as you can’t graduate if you don’t undergo it. Tomorrow, you will start with your training for a month: military training. After that, each of you would be given a respective mission, which marks the start of your military journey."

"For today, you will be given preliminary information you should know about the army, the origin, the ranks, everything you need to know," Kimberly said, her words making them boil.

After this, they were given three army uniforms to wear. "This is what you will be wearing in the army camp; only this is recognized."

Kimberly continued, explaining the ranks in detail, telling them the origins of the army, why it was established, and how many soldiers it consists of.

The next morning came, but it wasn’t a beautiful one.

As it was 5am, the students heard the loud sound of a bell ringing, which woke them up.

"All soldiers to head for the training grounds," a thick male voice resounded.

Some students were angry and helpless at this; some stood up, heading out, while some were still sleeping on the bed.

But they regretted doing so as a soldier burst into each camp, each with a long cane. Anyone asleep was wiped with it, waking them up from their precious dreams.

They were whipped with it until they ran out of the camp; ladies were no exception.

Some children cried due to the pain; there was no mercy when they were whipped with the cane.

The others saw this, which made some wipe their early morning sweat. Thank goodness, they stood up from the bird.

Eira watched this; she has stood up since, but her mind couldn’t help but wander as Matt’s face flashed through her mind.

She wondered how things would be if he were here.

"I miss you," she muttered in a voice that only she could hear, her eyes full of warmth and longing.

No one noticed this, as there was still darkness in the surroundings.

"Good morning, Cadets. Welcome to the military training ground."

A brown-haired young man with brown eyes and a handsome face, dressed in the military uniform eight military stars stamped on it.

A badge that shows the logo of the army: A Sword Requiem piercing through the sky.

"I am Nathan, your military trainer and instructor for your nine months of expedition." The young man smiled; his smile caught the hearts of the ladies, who felt their faces were flushed.

It was all a facade.

The next words of his were for them to do fifty push-ups. The students wanted to cry, but tears didn’t come out.

Some snorted, taunting their background, planning on not doing anything.

But all it needed was two strokes of the cane, and they were back in business.

They feared this cane a lot; the ladies tore the face of the young man in front of them broken due to anger.

Any complaint, Brother Cane was waving at them by the side, ready to help you.

Since then their hellish life has begun.

Eira had some dealings with this as her parents always trained her, so it was better for her to do it.

After the push-ups, they did 50 sit-ups and 30 squats, stretching and breathing controls, 3 km run, and formation drills like marching, discipline, and saluting.

They spent the first three hours doing so, before they were released, and everyone had to do it.

Even though their physical strength had increased due to cultivation, when doing this training program, that was useless, and they were taxing to the body.

Just doing the push-ups, they were already sweating like a Christmas goat, their clothes soaked in it.

After the morning training program, they were released back to their respective places.

Most of the girls were already getting vexed by how sweaty they were. They immediately headed to the bathroom to take their shower.

All the guys had to share the same shower, and all the girls had to share it. It wasn’t an individual bathroom, but a joint bathroom.

Eira was obsessed with cleanliness. Immediately after the training, she was the first person to shower, clearing off the dirt from her body.

Unlike school and home, this was ordinary water whether you like it or not. If you want it to be colder or hotter, this place doesn’t have the facility.

Also, they had to wash their uniform with their hands, spreading it under the rising sun.

When afternoon came, they were once again gathered in the training grounds.

"Even though you have Requiem, there are some moments where you can’t make use of it. This brought out a new general weapon called the Requiem Gun. I’m sure you would have been taught about it in your academy. The Requiem Gun can be activated with the use of Originat; it has no limit. Make use of your Originat to form a bullet; the stronger your Originat, the stronger the bullet."

"There are rifles requiem guns, snipers, and pistols. Now what we want to do here is train you on how to use the Requiem Gun, because they have high recoil."

The brown haired instructor said the boys were happy about this. All their grievances for the morning had disappeared.

Their eyes glowed, their hearts anticipating what was going on. They couldn’t wait to hold it and start shooting.

Some groups of soldiers came, handing them the Requiem Gun.

They were first given the Requiem Pistol. The body is made of dark alloy, almost charcoal-black, with faint silver lines that glow when activated.

The barrel is smooth and slightly longer than a standard pistol, giving it an elegant, deadly silhouette.

A thin blue or violet light pulses along the side, showing the weapon is charging or reading the user’s energy.

The grip is wrapped with anti-slip, rune-etched material that reacts to the user’s aura.

The muzzle has a narrow, sharp design—built for precision shots, not brute force.

Their eyes glowed, checking every part of the Requiem Pistol.
