Devoted Love:The Billionaire's Precious Wife
Chapter 847 - 846
CHAPTER 847: CHAPTER 846
Last night, Horace had only left his cell number, so when Steward reached out, he was taken aback.
Had the boss been right? Were they really coming to them?
After that, he hurriedly called his boss, "Boss, they’ve set up a meeting at Polanski Hospital for ten o’clock this morning."
Polanski Hospital was a well-known private medical center in Belloria, where every tick of the clock cost a pretty penny.
"Tell them, I’ll take that island for 5 million."
"5 million?" Horace was stunned by the boss’s hard bargaining. They had originally agreed to 40 million, and now they were down by 35 million. Would he get his head chopped off when he relayed this?
"Don’t worry, just say it."
It was hard for Horace not to worry; after all, they were dealing with Sean, the infamous Sean of Belloria. In the end, he conveyed the message, and they only agreed to discuss it at the hospital.
On the drive to the hospital with Rosemary, Horace was still anxious, "Boss, do you think they might set a
trap for us, snatch me up as a hostage, and then threaten you to buy the island for 70 or 80 million to save me?"
After all, it wasn’t just about Sean; no ordinary person would discount an island by 5 million. At the very least, it would be 10 or 20 million.
"Scared?" Rosemary teased with a playful smirk, looking at his wimpy demeanor.
"Scared? Not me." Horace said with a lack of confidence as he drove, "My life isn’t worth much anyway,Boss. Your herbs can save many more lives. When the time comes, don’t worry about me; even if they
put a knife to my throat, you must not give in. You have to secure that island."
"Okay."
Seeing how readily Rosemary agreed left Horace bewildered. Had he heard wrong? Was the boss really planning to give him up??
At that moment, he saw Rosemary’s lips curl into a smile, and he knew the boss was just joking around.
The boss had changed, becoming more and more playful.
"Don’t worry; his life is in my hands. Until the surgery is done, they won’t dare touch you."
Horace knew he could count on the boss, "And after the surgery?"
"I’ll get you out."
Horace was moved once again. With such a great boss, he would lay down his life in any emergency to ensure the boss got away first.
They arrived at the hospital. Sean was already waiting in the VIP ward.
As Horace followed his boss into the room, he saw Steward and a dozen of his men on high alert, wary of their every move.
"You really are full of surprises, daring to pull a fast one right in front of me," Sean said from his hospital bed, exuding an air of menacing nonchalance despite his pale lips.
Rosemary remained cool and collected, "You’re naturally suspicious. I had no choice but to slip the drug into my own drink."
"You were sure I’d swap with you?"
"Yes."
Steward, who was standing aside, was utterly shocked. He hadn’t expected it was really this girl who had tampered with the drink.
How had she dared to do that? Despite the many eyes watching last night, she had uncorked and poured the drink in one fluid motion, and even upon reflection, Steward couldn’t pinpoint when she had slipped the drug into the drink.
This young lady was truly inscrutable. Sean smirked roguishly, intrigued by her, "Weren’t you afraid of drinking that glass yourself?"
"I have the antidote."
Sean chuckled again, impressed by the young woman’s audacity.
"So, now you want to buy the island from me for 5 million?" Sean’s gaze settled on her.
She initially offered 40 million dollars.
"Doesn’t Sean’s life worth 35 million to you?" Steward had never expected this gutsy young woman to haggle so fiercely. In all his time, besides Sean, he’d never met anyone with such nerve.
"Once I’ve recovered, not even wings could you help you fly away," Sean carried a warning, a smile played on his lips the entire time.
"Good luck catching me first." Upon saying this, Rosemary asked in a casual manner, "Can we proceed with the surgery now?"
The audacity of this girl seemed to catch everyone off guard; every bodyguard in the room was a mix of shock and awe.
Who in the world was she?
To be so daring in front of Sean.
Steward glanced at Sean and, seeing no sign of disapproval, warned Rosemary in a low voice, "If you do any tricks, it won’t be just you at risk—everyone you care about also won’t make it out alive."
"Don’t worry, Steward. I said I’d save him, I will see it through to the very end."
"How sure are you?"
"One hundred percent."
Steward scoffed to himself. Even world-renowned surgeons wouldn’t dare to claim a one-hundred-percent success rate for their surgeries, yet this girl, of unknown origin, was making such a bold claim.
"I’m not confident in your medical skills. We’ve got a few doctors here who’ll join you in the OR."
"Great, I would certainly need a couple of assistants."
She had referred to world-class surgeons as mere assistants.
Could this young woman be too arrogant?
Right then, the few several esteemed doctors knocked and entered the room.
"Sean."
They each bowed slightly. One of them caught a sight of Rosemary, and her expression lit up with utter astonishment, even joy.
"Dr. Bell, you’re here?"
This title not only surprised Sean but Steward as well.
"Dr. Bell? Can it be really you? Sean brought you in to perform the surgery. That means, we’re set for success!"
Rosemary, unaware of who the admirer was, simply stated, "I need two assistants for the surgery."
"Could I be one of them? I’ve always admired your expertise, could I have the honor of being part of your team?" Dr. Anne volunteered eagerly, her admiration for Rosemary evident. "And this is Doreen,
she’s also a well-known surgeon."
"Both of you will do. Get the patient to the OR and show me to the scrubs room."
"Doreen, I’ll take Dr. Bell to get ready, and you take Sean to the OR." Anne immediately switched to fangirl mode and quickly led Rosemary to change into surgery attire.
The revelation that the gutsy young woman was Dr. Bell left everyone in a state of shock.
Horace then boasted, "Now you see who our boss is, right? I told you before, so many big shots have been trying to get our boss to operate, but she’s too busy to bother. The fact that she could
conveniently save "your" Sean, that is Sean’s good fortune."
Steward was about to lose his temper.
"Hey, don’t forget, your Sean’s life will soon be in our boss’s hands. Be nice to me! I skipped breakfast to bring our boss over for Sean’s surgery."
Steward didn’t expect Horace to be so cheeky, but considering the upcoming surgery, he had no choice but to instruct his men to fetch Horace some breakfast.
Horace, with a smug and triumphant smile, added, "Operating is hard work, make sure to buy our boss something extra."
Steward endured again and signaled his men to follow through.
Meanwhile, the man on the sickbed, upon hearing the young woman was Dr. Bell, recalled how the usually aloof and reserved Anne instantly turned into an adoring fan in her presence.
Heh, this young woman, not only skilled in combat and driving, but she’s also Dr. Bell.
