CHAPTER 247: MOE’S LIQUID

"Hold your horses for now, wait for Purple Vortex’s backup."

Going up against a Controller-level monster, if you wanted to play it safe, both retainers had to hit it together.

...

Purple Vortex was making serious headway on its end too. The Dark Purple Force Field was downright lethal when it came to mopping up weaker monsters.

Ever since it figured out how to whip up propellers for flight,

Purple Vortex had gotten the hang of using its Dark Purple Force Field to copy all sorts of weapons.

It was especially fond of creating massive fists—perfect supersized copies of its own.

Purple giant fists came thundering down, instantly scattering skeletal monsters throughout the corridor with brutal wind pressure, grinding them to dust under the relentless pounding.

"Roar!"

Sure, this wasn’t much different from just steamrolling everything with the Dark Purple Force Field like before,

but Purple Vortex was having a blast.

"Roar! Big!"

"Roar! Strong!"

One purple giant fist after another came crashing down.

Boom! Boom!

In no time flat, every skeletal monster in the corridor was toast, leaving fist craters all over the walls!

"Roar! Roar!"

....

Through sharing Purple Vortex’s vision, Carlos watched purple giant fists flying every which way.

He sighed:

"Wrap up the scouting, would you? Ginya ran into some serious trouble and could use your help."

"Roar?"

Getting the word from its master, Purple Vortex immediately dialed back the fun and got down to business.

The Dark Purple Force Field surged like a tidal wave, carving a path forward. Countless skeletal monsters got swept up and crushed without putting up much of a fight.

Purple Vortex’s exploration speed shot through the roof.

Soon enough, it burst into the heart of the middle corridor.

"Roar?"

The end of the middle corridor turned out to be a pool.

The pool was brimming with silver liquid that stayed crystal clear without a speck of dirt, despite sitting there for ages.

Carlos, tapping into Purple Vortex’s vision, caught sight of this too.

His mind went into overdrive, digging up intel on similar setups.

"In the alchemy game,

there’s definitely a type of rare alchemical brew that looks just like this silver stuff."

Moe’s Liquid -

a rare alchemical concoction dreamed up by some genius alchemical master who poured everything into it.

Handy for all sorts of things, but its bread and butter

was growing super alchemical life forms while keeping things perfectly preserved.

Alchemical life forms usually came in three flavors.

The first kind was your run-of-the-mill alchemical life forms -

they looked like they had some smarts, but really they were just following their programming without any real brains.

The second kind was special alchemical life forms -

these babies actually had some genuine intelligence and could pull off incredible tricks in specific areas.

Take Gauwo’s Eye that Carlos was packing -

as one of those priceless, one-of-a-kind treasures from the long-lost ancient alchemy days, it was exactly this type of special alchemical life form.

With mind-blowing spatial awareness, it was the ultimate tool for picking up on spatial ripples and tracking teleportation trails.

The third kind was super alchemical life forms -

boasting real intelligence that matched any thinking race.

Each one’s creation supposedly needed not just a whole crew of top-tier alchemical masters working together, but also a fortune in rare materials.

Usually only the big shots who ruled entire eras had the muscle to make them.

Carlos had bumped into one a few months back.

In the Ersbah United Kingdom Exchange ruins,

inside that massive pyramid, a huge golden sphere hung up high: the Merit Exchange Orb!

It had a death grip on the Ersbah United Kingdom’s merit exchange system.

That day, Carlos dropped by as a backup councilman and didn’t tick it off, wrapping up his business without a hitch.

As for just grabbing the legion gear inside,

Carlos had mulled it over, but considering how scary powerful super life forms could be, he’d wisely passed on that idea.

Staring at this huge pool of special alchemical brew,

Carlos had a gut feeling:

"There’s probably a super alchemical life form locked away in there!"

His cool composure cracked with excitement.

"Purple Vortex, haul out that whole pool of silver liquid!"

The order came fast and urgent.

Back in his past life, any super life form that showed up

packed Controller-level punch or better, no matter what other tricks they had up their sleeves.

If one was really sealed in there, this would be the jackpot of Carlos’s entire trip.

"Roar!"

Hearing its master’s fresh orders, Purple Vortex immediately shoved the previous command to help Ginya to the back burner.

The Dark Purple Force Field surged under its feet, quickly blanketing the entire silver liquid.

Once that was done,

the Dark Purple Force Field shifted into razor-sharp blades around the pool’s rim,

slicing straight down to the bottom, then carving through the base along the cracks.

Without breaking a sweat,

the Dark Purple Force Field hoisted the entire pool, keeping every last drop of that silver special alchemical liquid perfectly still.

"Roar!"

Purple Vortex whipped up propellers above its head, lifting off the ground.

More propellers appeared behind it, spinning with a thunderous roar.

A powerful gust launched Purple Vortex at breakneck speed.

At the same time,

propellers sprouted around the Dark Purple Force Field, especially a whole line facing away from the exit.

Air currents rolled and roared without stopping.

Purple Vortex hauled the pool, rocketing toward the exit at full throttle...

Carlos told Ginya to keep her cool for the moment.

....

Boom!

Air currents swept over as the Dark Purple Force Field dragged the pool along, slowly coming to rest in front of Carlos.

The silver special alchemical liquid

looked exactly like it had back in the Necromantic Tower—not a drop lost, without even a ripple, like time couldn’t touch it.

Gripping the Sun Emperor’s Sword, Carlos’s instincts and retainer senses gave him the all-clear.

That sealed the deal for Carlos.

"Search the pool!"

The Dark Purple Force Field wrapped around the pool immediately sprouted dozens of hands with long arms, plunging into the silver special alchemical liquid.

Right away, the calm, thick special alchemical solution started bubbling as dozens of purple shadows darted through it...

"Roar!"

Before long, Purple Vortex’s thrilled roar at finding something unknown hit Carlos’s ears.

Silver liquid rippled as purple shadows came together.

An oval-shaped mysterious stone slowly broke the surface of the silver liquid, cradled by the Dark Purple Force Field.

On its pure white shell,

dark patterns flowed with eerie light, giving off an aura that was both pure and dark—complete opposites...

"A stone egg?"

Carlos looked baffled.

His memory banks had no records of egg-type super life forms, and this aura felt pretty weak, nowhere near Controller level.

"Will this thing actually hatch?"

Carlos couldn’t resist putting his hand on it. It felt hot one second, cold the next.

[Mysterious Stone Egg:

A mysterious stone egg that the necromantic archmage "accidentally" swiped.

Sealed away until now, it seems to be missing some kind of nourishment, showing zero signs of hatching...]

"Damn!"

All of a sudden,

the shell bristled with needle-sharp stone spikes.

Caught totally off guard,

Carlos got his finger scratched.

A drop of hot blood splashed onto the dark patterns, vanishing without a trace in the blink of an eye.
