Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion
Chapter 278: The Second Batch of Psionics
CHAPTER 278: THE SECOND BATCH OF PSIONICS
Especially the crimson knight who’d led them here and the patrol knights they’d run into along the way could easily butcher those troublesome mid-tier dark mist monsters, leaving the Psionics who’d come this time completely blown away.
Along with their excitement, they couldn’t help being curious about where these ridiculously powerful knights had come from.
Only a handful knew in their guts that all these knights were Skeleton Warriors belonging to that monster from the Valois family.
For Carlos to drag major families into the first dark mist layer, he’d naturally have to show off some of the Black Knights’ power to give everyone confidence.
But this would inevitably make a lot of people green with envy.
Among this batch of Psionics were quite a few sneaky bastards. Following orders from their bosses, they carried missions to varying degrees, aiming to dig up the secret behind Carlos’s incredibly powerful Skeleton Warriors.
But when they saw towering Black Knights radiating overwhelming bloodlust charge into monster groups that had stupidly wandered into this area and slaughter them all within moments, they started sweating bullets.
If they got caught, they’d probably face these terrifying knights’ wrath. They didn’t think they could outrun these nightmare knights.
Thinking about this, these scheming jackasses couldn’t help but feel their scalps crawling, cursing themselves for accepting missions to spy on Young Master Carlos’s secrets. Now they were stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Red Spirit, with its ability to read soul vibrations, had long since clearly picked up on some of these Psionics’ dirty tricks and reported to its master.
Caw!
Though it found it weird why its master wouldn’t let it kill them, it still followed its master’s orders and held back.
But they definitely suffered Red Spirit’s intimidation along the way.
For instance, when running into monster groups on the journey, Red Spirit would often deliberately rip off monster heads and chuck them at those Psionics, making them freak out.
The Psionics weren’t terrified by the nasty monster heads, but by the brutal force they packed—getting nailed by one would definitely make you cough up blood.
Luckily, Red Spirit only targeted those with ulterior motives, or this team would probably have cracked under pressure and tried to bail long ago.
The gates opened and Sara showed up.
She looked at the crowd in surprise—why were some people covered in blood? Under Lord Red Spirit’s protection, this shouldn’t have happened.
"Lord Red Spirit, the young master says you did an awesome job. He’s waiting for you in the lord’s mansion."
"Caw!"
A red flash and Red Spirit’s figure vanished.
Seeing the crimson knight disappear, the Psionics it had brought breathed a collective sigh of relief, showing just how much pressure Red Spirit had put them under.
Sara didn’t know about this situation and figured the Psionics were relaxing because they’d reached their destination.
"Come on in, everyone. I’ll hand out your assignments."
A Black Knight tagged along with them, responsible for keeping this group of Psionics properly intimidated.
The second batch way outnumbered the first—a full two hundred people.
Of course, they weren’t all mid-tier. Some were low-tier Psionics, since any Psionic could handle overseer duties.
Carlos knew this second batch was just the tip of the iceberg. Once they successfully proved his words weren’t bullshit, the major families and forces they represented would continuously send more people and dump massive resources to officially join up.
In the lord’s mansion, Carlos stared at the ice plains map on the wall, his eyes distant, lost in thought.
The second batch of Psionics numbered a full two hundred. With so many people joining up, the number of Lulus they could oversee would at least double, meaning the second core ice fortress and even the third core ice fortress could start getting built.
Yolanda entered and reported:
"Young Master Carlos, I’ve gotten the newly arrived Psionics sorted out."
Carlos nodded.
"Train them to oversee Lulus as fast as possible. In a couple days, pick a hundred people—I want to take them to build the second core ice fortress."
Young Master Carlos’s grand scheme—nine core ice fortresses and a Northern Wall cutting across the vast ice plains.
Yolanda knew something about this. Seeing it slowly becoming reality, she felt like she was in some epic tale, following the family head to humanity’s peak.
"Yes, young master."
After getting Carlos’s orders, Yolanda didn’t take off as usual. Instead, she walked behind Carlos and reached out with her slender fingers, gently massaging his head.
Carlos was about to say something when he heard Yolanda say with a smile:
"Young master, this is Grand Duke Iris’s orders. You can’t give me grief about it."
His sister’s arrangement?
Carlos thought about this, closed his eyes, and peacefully enjoyed Yolanda’s massage.
Yolanda’s mouth curved up. It still took Captain Iris’s name to make little Carlos chill out.
Gradually, Carlos drifted off to sleep.
Seeing this, Yolanda quietly sat down. Carlos’s fur chair was pretty roomy—not just for sitting, even lying down would work fine.
Yolanda first ditched her troublesome armor to avoid bumping Carlos, then gently turned him on his side, placing his head on her full thighs, continuing the massage in a good mood.
"Young master, Yolanda doesn’t..."
Suddenly, a figure burst in urgently. Sara’s voice cut off abruptly.
"Shh~"
Yolanda signaled Sara to keep it down. With little Carlos rarely relaxed, she didn’t want to wake him up.
"Yolanda, you!!!"
Sara’s eyes went wide with shock. The scene in front of her made her cheeks turn bright red. Had her best friend finally lost it?
Little Carlos was still a kid!!!
How could she face Captain Iris like this!!!
Thinking about this, Sara felt the weight of responsibility and then... just stood there, staring hard at her best friend’s every move, ready to stop any inappropriate actions.
"Huh?"
Yolanda naturally got what her friend was thinking. Her pretty eyebrows went up as she gently leaned down...
"Stop!!!"
Sara rushed forward. Her hands were clenched tight—good thing she was close.
Yolanda’s eyes sparkled with mischief.
"This is the captain’s orders."
"But..."
The two locked in intense eye contact.
One was a die-hard eye-candy enthusiast who naturally couldn’t pass up such a close contact opportunity.
The other was an upright best friend who absolutely couldn’t let her buddy walk down the path of corruption.
Just then, a fluffy white thing on the room’s fur mat suddenly made mooing sounds.
"Moo moo!"
Blood Silver had woken up—it was hungry. Opening its big blood-red eyes and ignoring the two people present, it pounced and chomped down on ’mommy’s’ right arm.
"We’re under attack!"
"Holy crap!"
Sara and Yolanda freaked out, hurrying to grab Blood Silver’s legs to yank it off Carlos.
"No need to panic—it’s my pet."
Carlos drowsily woke up. He’d just had a good nap only to get bitten awake by this troublesome little monster.
Blood Silver made happy purring sounds, totally unconcerned about its legs being grabbed.
"So it’s a pet..."
Sara got it, instinctively looking at her friend.
"Yolanda, you said..."
"Where the hell did she go???"
Yolanda, who had just been facing off with her, had vanished!
