Chapter 314: Homeward Voyage
CHAPTER 314: CHAPTER 314: HOMEWARD VOYAGE
Yu Sheng found it difficult to describe his feelings at this moment.
When he completely "took over" the spaceship known as the "Order Pillar," fully merging his consciousness with the cold metal, and attempting to greet the cosmic vacuum in a non-corporeal stance, the boundless expanse accompanied by profound solitude yet bathed in starlight bringing tranquility and peace, a contradictory yet stirring emotion surged, keeping him in tumultuous contemplation.
This was entirely different from the feeling he had when he took over the "Nightfall Valley."
He couldn’t pinpoint the reason for this difference—was it because of the vastness of space? Or due to the peculiar nature of this steel body? Perhaps both.
Yet he did not resist the feelings he was experiencing.
Standing at the end of the Control Hall, he gazed into the endless deep space while simultaneously using the ship’s perspective to survey his current position and state. His consciousness wandered in the animated "Giant Tower," "understanding" everything within this new shell in a way only he could comprehend.
After an undetermined stretch of time, his eyes settled in a certain direction, followed by a slight hand gesture forward.
Just like the first time reshaping the earth and stones in Nightfall Valley, he awkwardly maneuvered his new "limbs."
A multitude of concealed grilles around the Order Pillar’s base and central structure unfolded in space, gradually lighting up in dark red glows as the conventional engines ignited and the "Giant Tower" began to slowly accelerate.
Subsequently, additional auxiliary engines lit up sequentially, starting to adjust the spaceship’s trajectory.
A few minutes later, Yu Sheng paused and began checking the other systems on the spaceship.
He discovered many areas already damaged or in poor condition—some were hit by the Special Service Bureau’s firepower when escaping Mist City, others suffered overload damage when interference during the jump caused the Phase Engine to shut down urgently.
These damages had existed when Yu Sheng "took over" the spaceship, and his unfamiliarity with the principles of these contraptions naturally rendered him unable to repair them at this moment.
It seemed he’d have to wait until they returned to have the experts from the Special Service Bureau research them, see if they could repair them, and once fixed, perform a "Blood Transfer" on the damaged sections to "refresh" their states...
Yu Sheng’s mind filled with various thoughts while confirming the current state of the spaceship.
Fortunately, despite some damage, the spaceship’s basic functions remained intact, though the structure responsible for jumping was in the worst condition, yet with minimal impact for Yu Sheng’s purposes.
He could use his own method to "compensate" for the missing critical structure of the Phase Engine.
After testing a multitude of functions and pondering countless ideas repeatedly, Yu Sheng finally breathed lightly, focusing his spirit to fully synchronize with the ship while spreading his arms in a gesture akin to pushing open a door.
The Phase Engine charged, transmitting parameters began to generate—
Amidst the vibration spreading throughout the vessel and the resounding roar within the ship’s space, the "Giant Tower" hovering in space abruptly seemed spectral, as if several illusions overlapped at a point, distant starlight penetrated its immense and transparent structure, simultaneously, a flickering rift appeared within the phantom of the Giant Tower, as if a gradually tearing spacetime rift emerged internally, the entire spaceship began collapsing towards that internal rift, reversing...
Simultaneously, within the depths of the valley.
A rumbling sound emanated from the clearing near the Black Forest, startling a squirrel gnawing an acorn on a branch at the forest’s edge, a Hunter chopping wood, and Little Red Riding Hood who, after returning from school, finishing four sets of tests, an essay, and ten pages of in-class practice, was eager to find a secluded spot in the forest to watch videos in peace.
The squirrel shrieked and jumped down from the tree, bounced onto a large stone at the forest’s edge, looking towards the direction of the rumbling sound: "Another big construction project? Another big construction project! Anyone mentioned it?"
The Hunter also stepped out with his axe and immediately noticed a vast area of ground near the Black Forest entrance, en route towards... the Hostel Hub, visibly undulating and resonating.
Originally a barren wasteland with only rocks, now the terrain was leveling rapidly as the soil and rocks "melted," morphing into a grey-white solid form—Yu Sheng often used this "material" to craft buildings, and subsequently, further transformations occurred on the leveled ground, creating massive-scale pits and plateau structures, seemingly reserved as "foundation" for some colossal entity, and hard roads extended from the edge of this swiftly transforming wasteland, connecting with the path linked to the Black Forest and Tong Town...
Little Red Riding Hood, leading her Wolf Pack, also emerged, staring wide-eyed at the distance.
The Hunter’s deep voice echoed from beside: "Did Yu Sheng mention any major construction plans recently?"
"No mention of it," Little Red Riding Hood was equally bewildered, eyes opened wide, "wasn’t he just putting together that hub? The interior’s not even finished yet, what’s he up to with another huge project?"
"What do you think it’s for?" The Hunter asked, puzzled.
"A giant water pit!" The squirrel leapt, hopping onto the Hunter’s shoulder, "such a huge pit with platforms around, must be a swimming pool! Maybe prepared for the Mermaid—"
"Mermaids don’t swim." Little Red Riding Hood rebutted seriously.
"Then she could sink into it," the squirrel exclaimed—although uncertain why so thrilled, "and you could cast rods from the platform..."
Little Red Riding Hood opened her mouth, but before she could speak, another rumble came from the sky, interrupting everything she wanted to say.
She stared wide-eyed, raising her head in amazement. The squirrel and the Hunter beside her also looked up, equally astonished (though the Hunter had no face).
A twisted rift was rapidly expanding in the sky, and then, around that rift, many giant illusions began to appear. Almost in the blink of an eye, these illusions "flipped" in a dizzying manner, forming a floating illusionary Giant Tower in the sky—a hundreds-of-meters tall, imposing and majestic structure, with numerous sub-tower structures akin to "floating pods" hovering around its top, all connected to the main tower, looking bizarre yet magnificent.
Even the wolf next to Little Red Riding Hood looked stunned.
Immediately after, the Giant Tower shifted from illusion to reality, and after adjusting its position, it slowly descended into the newly completed "foundation pit" next to the Black Forest.
It landed precisely in the huge pit, coordinating deftly like a pair of human hands, while the "rock" structure around the pit immediately deformed, firmly securing the towering "building."
The squirrel finally screamed: "...What is this!! Hunter, do you know what this is? Little Red Riding Hood, do you know what this is?"
The Hunter said nothing, and Little Red Riding Hood, having finally regained her senses, shook her head: "I don’t know, but it must be something Yu Sheng came up with... maybe to make it symmetrical with the long-haired princess’s tower to the north?"
Squirrel: "The long-haired princess’s tower can’t fly either! This thing flies!"
Just then, Little Red Riding Hood saw an illusionary door appear near the tower.
She breathed a sigh of relief—finally, something she recognized appeared.
The door opened, and Yu Sheng stumbled out.
Little Red Riding Hood rode the wolf directly over and, in the blink of an eye, reached Yu Sheng, stepping forward to support the seemingly weak and dizzy Yu Sheng: "Hey! Are you okay? What’s going on?"
Yu Sheng waved his hand with a pale face: "Don’t talk first, dizzy, dizzy... ugh—"
Before finishing the sentence, he started to dry heave to the side, but ended up retching for ages without actually vomiting anything, feeling even more uncomfortable.
Little Red Riding Hood felt a bit nauseous from watching him dry heave, but she steadfastly held onto Yu Sheng’s arm, not letting go. After nearly a minute, he finally felt a bit better, lifted his head with difficulty, and managed to say, "Whoa... getting kicked out of a dream by Erin is just like this... why is remote teleportation so dizzying?"
Little Red Riding Hood listened, baffled: "Uh? What teleportation?"
Yu Sheng took a long breath, forcing a smile, pointing at the spacecraft standing beside him: "This, I brought it back from outer space, a local specialty."
Little Red Riding Hood’s expression turned more confused as her high school brain quickly grasped the meaning of his words but couldn’t comprehend its reasonableness: "Uh... uh? Did you say what specialty?!"
"I’ll explain it to you later," Yu Sheng finally recovered from the weakness and dizziness of remote teleportation, although still a bit muddle-headed, at least his brain wasn’t buzzing anymore, and he withdrew his arm from Little Red Riding Hood’s hand, "Let me pull Erin and Hu Li in first..."
As he spoke, he fumbled around in the air next to him and casually opened a phantom door.
On the other side of the door was the living room of No. 66 Wutong Road—Hu Li, Erin, and Xuan Che had gone home shortly after escaping from the tower, and had been waiting there since.
Soon after, a few more dumbfounded figures appeared next to the Black Forest.
The little Puppet stood on the ground, craning its neck as if to break it, looking up at the towering spire in front of it for a long time before saying: "...Did you really haul the whole tower over?!"
Yu Sheng: "What do you mean ’haul,’ this is called a trophy—and I said I’d bring back a local specialty, didn’t I?"
Even Erin was surprised: "...The so-called local specialty from outer space is a spaceship?!"
Yu Sheng: "Just tell me if it makes sense or not."
Erin was suddenly speechless.
And at this moment, Xuan Che, standing nearby, also turned around, clasped his hands, and said with an exceptionally sincere tone: "Your expert methods indeed have the power of thunder."
Yu Sheng instinctively scratched his hair upon hearing this, feeling a bit embarrassed by the flattery, and just before replying modestly, Hu Li approached, her tail wagging like a three-speed fan, and her eyes gleaming: "Savior entered the enemy ship alone, defeated enemies, and seized the ship, can be regarded as a boarding Immortal!"
Yu Sheng: "..."
