Chapter 34: : Departure
CHAPTER 34: : DEPARTURE
"Still, we can’t just play dumb to the fact that Li Zhi said Xuan was walking. Is it even possible? After his meridian was broken?"
The little town was now full of talk about Xuan. It had been a week since anyone last saw the crippled boy, and it was a very hard thing to believe.
Mr. Han, who was crippled, was now using sticks to walk just like Xuan. As of now, his wife did not even give him a single glance.
’So this was how useless the boy felt,’ Han was frustrated, standing at the window and seeing his wife talking with Fang Yuan.
’And the bastard made me feel the same way. Xuan, I’ll kill you,’ were the words in his head.
He knew Fang Yuan had gotten Xuan into the dual academy in the Harem Empire, but when the Son of Heaven came to ask, Fang Yuan denied knowing anything.
Maybe he knew Han deserved what was happening to him, and even if Fang Yuan was told it was Xuan, he refused to believe it.
But he knew it; he just didn’t want it to be true.
Meanwhile...
Xuan was lying on the majestic bed, with Zhao Lan and Li Feng by his side, covered with white bed covers.
Zhao Lan did not have much issue with Xuan also sleeping with Li Feng, but the latter had the most jealousy issues. If Xuan did anything to Zhao Lan, she’d say, "Me too."
But it only made her cute in the eyes of Xuan. Besides, his dick was fat and long enough to go around.
Tomorrow was the beginning of a new session for the dual academy, and Xuan was leaving for the empire today.
But Zhao Lan insisted on coming with him, and Li Feng had to stay behind for her country.
"Are you sure you don’t need escorts? How would I ensure you’re safe?" asked Li Feng.
Xuan and Zhao Lan were on their horses, ready to depart, when the Elf Queen kept insisting guards escort them to the empire.
She could pinpoint Zhao Lan’s strength to be at Divine Combustion Stage 03, so she wasn’t really worried about her—just about her lover.
The journey was a day-long ride from the elf country, and the road was lined with trees and bushes, so it was natural to be scared, especially since those going to the city had to be of good financial and power status.
So bandits could be waiting for anyone passing the road because of their wealth.
Xuan had gotten a lot of coins from Li Feng that could last a year or two.
So he already planned to buy a good house there for himself and his self-claimed wife, Zhao Lan.
"And if you need anything, just—"
Before Li Feng could complete the words, Xuan stretched his hand out, smiling. "Then come with me."
She looked down with flushed cheeks, and the moment she looked back up, Xuan was already leaving while waving his hand.
"I will be fine, Li Feng."
Zhao Lan kept marveling at how beautiful Xuan’s world looked. No fancy lights, but last night the stars were even better than her world.
The birds chirping around the forest were a better melody compared to her world’s music.
Unlike Li Feng, who knew a few things about Xuan, she didn’t know anything and needed to.
"Xu—"
"I have a question, Zhao Lan," said Xuan. "You accepted my proposal so quickly. Why?"
"Oh, well, back in my world I appeared happy, but I was in a cage. I was married to a man with two daughters. He wasn’t really my type, and it was just a marriage to aid our families. That wasn’t a life."
"So you’re hoping I give you the life you dreamed of?" Xuan followed the question with his eyes, looking beside him without turning his neck.
He wanted to see Zhao Lan’s reaction, and the white-haired beautiful woman was blushing. "Well, your techniques are one of them. There’s just one thing lacking from the life I want."
"Uh?" Xuan raised an eyebrow. "What’s that?"
"Your love." Though she said that calmly and boldly, her heart was unnaturally pounding. Maybe she was scared Xuan would say something off the mark.
"Then the life is complete," said Xuan with a little smile. The words quickly lifted her head up for Xuan to see her red cheeks.
"Does that mean—"
"Yes, Zhao Lan."
"Then say it."
However, before Xuan could say the words, a short knife was sent flying toward his head, but it stopped inches from his eyes.
Thud
Then, a few meters away from them, a man in a black suit jumped down from a tree—a green-haired man.
"Uh? Spiritual abilities? Then I guess I’ll be needing this," the green-haired man brought out a wristband and wore it, grinning.
Xuan stared at Zhao Lan, then three bandits jumped down from a tree behind them. It wasn’t making sense.
Xuan knew that man’s dressing was like those in Zhao Lan’s world, so how the hell was he here? On top of that, he was a Divine Combustion.
But the bandits, who were from his world, weren’t. They were at martial realms. "Zhao Lan, can you handle the ones behind us?"
"What? You want to fight that—"
Boom
Xuan leaped off his horse and clashed daggers with the grinning assassin, sending a shockwave and sparks that got the horse running away.
They leaped back, and by the time Xuan knew it, Zhao Lan was standing beside him. The three bandits were all lying dead on the floor.
’I forgot, a snap of her finger and they’re dead,’ thought Xuan.
But that’s also an unseen attack, so it wasn’t going to work on the assassin in front of them.
"How did you get here?" asked Zhao Lan. The assassin shifted his gaze from Xuan, and the moment it landed on Zhao Lan—
Boom
Clack’
She didn’t see the attack coming, as the assassin was unimaginably fast, even for someone at her stage.
However, it was Xuan who clashed attacks with him. If he could just cut the assassin with the dagger... but no, the assassin dodged by squatting down and cutting Xuan by the leg.
Then he jumped back. "That’s somehow surprising," said the assassin. "Where are my manners? I am Sang Woo, and I’m here for your head and Mr. Lan’s wife."
"What?" Zhao Lan muttered while stumbling backwards.
