CHAPTER 44: : XUE MING AND LI FENG

The tavern was destroyed beyond recognition. Li Feng had summoned her spiritual beast, and it coiled around the whole tavern.

Then, with a little squeeze, it crushed the tavern as everyone began running outside.

"I didn’t know she had a divine spirit beast too," the crossed blade bounty hunter clenched his teeth as he jumped back, dodging falling wood.

The other one also perfectly landed far from the tavern that now resembled a construction site. Poor bartender.

"I think the beast is pissed off."

The bounty hunter wasn’t wrong. However, Li Feng’s palm caressing her scales calmed her down but still kept her on high alert.

"Hand over the maps," Li Feng said calmly. After knowing a map was able to track her down and Xuan, she needed the maps.

But the bounty hunters did as expected, yelling, "Like hell I’d hand them over!"

Princess Xue Ming sighed. Even now, they still had their hoods on. The onlookers didn’t know it was Xue Ming and the Elf Queen.

They could only differentiate them as white robe and black robe monsters.

Xue Ming pointed a finger at the one not holding the map, as if aiming at his head. And then—whoosh, boosh!

The head of the double-sword bounty hunter exploded to pieces as his headless body began reducing to ashes.

Not even the bones could be seen. That was a little party trick the phoenix cultivator could do.

"Wh-what?" The one holding the map swallowed. Even Li Feng’s eyes were wide, staring at Xue Ming, who was holding back a grin behind the hood.

Even though she saw what happened, it was still scary. A beam moving at 0 seconds was what exploded the hunter’s head.

And given the fact it was from a phoenix, he burned to ashes—like when a spark of flame lights up an entire farmyard.

"You... you’ll pay for that!" the last bounty hunter yelled. With a step, Li Feng was already in front of him.

But the hunter was a divine stage one, so he was able to follow that image. "Rrrghaaa!" he yelled again and made sure he slashed Li Feng in half.

Xue Ming’s eyes filled her sockets. Li Feng was slashed in two. However, that was just a mirage. Li Feng was standing behind the hunter and took the maps tied against his waist.

’What? That person has been a divine stage four? So this is how they’re strong,’ the bartender couldn’t believe his eyes.

Because now that they used their abilities, the concealed aura automatically died.

It was after she had gotten the maps and began walking away that the hunter and Xue Ming realized what had happened.

"Ho-how?" the bounty hunter muttered. Li Feng did not even turn around and just kept walking away as she looked at the map.

It was at his distraction—boosh!—another phoenix beam shot out of Xue Ming’s finger, incinerating the body to ash.

As of now, the colossal spirit beast was slithering towards its master. Li Feng patted it on the head as the beast hissed.

"How did you move that fast?" asked Xue Ming, walking beside her.

Li Feng stood smiling. She could see the map displaying her current location, and she burned down that map.

The other map was showing the head of the man she had deeply fallen in love with—Xuan—and then answered Xue Ming.

It was simple. Everything that they had been seeing was just a misconception created by Li Feng.

The person cut in half wasn’t her but an illusion created for them all to see.

In fact, the whole vicinity was a misdirection created by Li Feng. But that was just a party gift from having the colossal snake as her spirit beast.

"Come on, we can get there faster with my beast." Accompanying her words, Xue Ming summoned her phoenix beast.

Li Feng looked at her, but it was true. The phoenix beast would be faster than her slithering beast, and while at the top, they could cover more ground.

"Soo... are we friends?"

Li Feng didn’t reply to Xue Ming. She just stared at her stretched-out palm waiting for a handshake before walking towards the beast.

Finally, Xuan was out of that wretched village. He stood on the mountain where he could see the village—or at least the place it should be.

Because the whole village from up there seemed like an ocean of fog.

Without feeling guilty for what he did to Yue Cai and her father, Xuan set out to find his wife. As he reached the forest, he stopped walking.

Now, he was confused. He didn’t know how to track them down. In other words, Xuan was lost.

"Xuan."

Then he heard his name, accompanied by the spirit crane beast flying past him. When he looked up to see who it was, Xuan was surprised.

"Master Fang Yuan?" Xuan expressed his surprise.

Fang Yuan jumped down from the crane beast, landing on his feet, and hugged Xuan.

"This is the Xuan guy? Damn, where have you been? Tracking you for days now, and suddenly you popped out."

The tracker Li Feng encountered settled down with the crane beast. He had the ability to track any living thing with a name.

A very rare tracking skill.

Xuan sighed. It must be the village. Still, why was Fang Yuan here because of him? Xuan had to ask.

"Don’t worry, I have my family working on clearing your name. You don’t have to hide anymore," said Fang Yuan, placing his hand on Xuan’s shoulder.

"You saved Master Fang Yuan. Expect his kindness now."

"Saved?" Xuan muttered. Then he recalled the incident about the poisoned tea. "Thank you, but I have to find someone now," said Xuan.

"What’s with all these findings anyway? You guys hunting a lost treasure or what?" asked the sarcastic tracker.

"Who is it you’re looking for?" Fang Yuan quickly asked to know who it was. But before Xuan replied, he made a guess. "Is it the elf?"

"No, that’s my second wife," Xuan replied.

"What?" Fang Yuan had to step back. He didn’t know Xuan was even married, talk more of having two wives. But then he composed himself.

Time wasn’t on Xuan’s side. "Tell us, what’s her name?"

"Zhao Lan."

"Found her," the tracker replied almost the same time Xuan said the name.
