Dimensional Trader in Marvel
Chapter 347 - 343: Loki
Trolls and Vrykul mummies were just the beginning. Next came the special races from Northrend: Wolver.
There were also creatures from the Elwynn Forest—nightmares for human civilians—like gnolls, murlocs and lobstrok. From Kalimdor came centaurs, boars, ogres, and harpies.
There were even naga and goblins.
Besides these, there were elemental creatures, alien bugs, slimes, and other special beings.
Each rare species made the collectors very excited.
"Mr. Tivan, what do you think of these goods?" Josh asked, watching the other's expression on purpose.
You have to say, Azeroth is truly a treasure world. It has so many kinds of creatures.
And what they were about to sell to the collector wasn't even everything.
Because the other races were special, so Josh didn't plan to sell them.
Like night elves, tauren, and treants…
No surprise there.
Under Josh's support, Abbendis secretly built a fleet. They called it an expedition team, but it was really like the European explorers during the Age of Discovery—more like pirates, full of desperate people.
If the other side was strong, they traded honestly.
But if there was a chance... heh heh.
This way of doing things was normal in Azeroth too.
The famous marinetime kingdom Kul Tiras started just like this.
So capturing night elves, tauren, treants, and other species was very risky, but some people still did it—like in the game story where Warchief Garrosh was exiled by Onyxia and met the night elf druid Brox Bearskin and blood elf thief Vereesa Sanguinar in the arena, both slaves and gladiators.
So in Azeroth, even strong races like night elves and high elves were rare but not gone.
Of course, slaves from these two races sold for the highest price on the black market.
"Good, good, very good! Mr. Kahn, I have to say, you brought me a huge surprise. In all my life, I've never seen such interesting races. This is amazing!" The collector looked closely at a slime and clicked his tongue in wonder.
But he wisely didn't ask Josh where these creatures came from.
At their level, having some secrets was normal.
Asking too much only causes trouble.
"If Mr. Tivan likes them, then maybe…" Josh smiled and made a small gesture with his thumb and finger.
"Oh, of course, please name your price, Mr. Kahn!" The collector understood.
"Before I came, I asked about the prices of most of the races you collect. There's a big difference, but the ones I'm selling you are almost one of a kind... so how about 100 million each?" Josh boldly named a sky-high price.
It really was a huge price because in the universe's currency, the basic model of Star-Lord's fighting ship in the movie costs only about 100,000.
The Kree Empire's escort ship costs just a few million.
And Ronan's Dark Aster-class first-rate battleship is just a bit over 100 million.
This is why Rocket Raccoon's eyes lit up when he saw Star-Lord's bounty was as high as 40,000—before hanging out with Star-Lord, Rocket and Groot were pretty poor.
At that time, Star-Lord was still unknown and didn't really deserve such a high bounty… that bounty was posted by Yondu and had to be alive.
Now, Josh was selling 23 different species to the collector, which meant 2.3 billion total.
That was enough for the Kree Empire to build a main fleet.
In the movie, the collector's price for the Power Stone was only about 4 billion.
But Josh didn't expect the collector to accept the price right away. After all, in business, it's normal to ask for a high price and then negotiate down.
What Josh didn't expect was that the collector only slightly frowned at the price and then agreed.
"The price is a bit high, but I can accept it. Let's say this is the start of a friendship, Mr. Kahn. If you have good stuff in the future, please let me know!" The collector rarely shook hands, especially with men.
But with Josh, he made an exception.
"Of course!" Josh was surprised by the collector's generosity, but he quickly agreed—who wouldn't want more money?
2.3 billion Units were enough to build a large space corporation.
The collector was an ancient being, billions of years old, with endless wealth.
Compared to him, Josh was still young.
He thought he had seen a lot of money and controlled wealth across several worlds.
But against the collector, he was nothing.
Still… What if he suddenly tried to rob this guy?
"Oh, by the way, about the duck outside, I wonder if Mr. Tivan would be willing to part with it?" Josh asked.
Robbing the collector was tempting, but Josh was just thinking—who knows what tricks this old guy had. Josh didn't want trouble, but he hadn't forgotten about Howard the Duck outside.
"That duck? You can have it!" The collector didn't care about Howard as a "collection" and agreed immediately without thinking.
"By the way, do you want Cash or Units from the Galactic Banking Alliance?" Tivan asked, walking to his desk.
The Galactic Banking Alliance was a financial group made of top banks from many civilizations in the universe, led by the Shi'ar Empire's Imperial Bank.
Its Units were used in most of the universe's civilizations and areas, like Earth's US dollar.
Not every star region accepted it, though.
Cash Units were more widely used, especially in places like the black market, where Units might leave traces.
"Units are fine!" Josh didn't want cash. He planned to run space business and couldn't avoid dealing with the Galactic Banking Alliance, so Units were better.
"No problem!" Tivan nodded and prepared to pay.
But just as the two sides were trading, another one of the collector's maids rushed in hurriedly.
"Orina, I think I need a good explanation!" The collector said with a cold face, seeing her flustered look.
"Please forgive my disrespect, great master, but some guests are outside and want to see you!" The maid quickly knelt, knowing she had made a mistake.
"Oh? What kind of guests make you so nervous?" The collector raised an eyebrow.
"They are from Asgard—the second prince, Lord Loki!" The maid said respectfully.
"Him?" Hearing the name, not only was the collector surprised, but Josh also looked very shocked.
Although he knew he would deal with Asgard sooner or later, besides seeing Odin from afar once, Josh didn't expect the first Asgardian he would meet to be Loki.
Fate really is strange!
"What does he want?" The collector asked.
"Lord Loki said he has some special goods to sell to the master!" The maid answered honestly.
"Bring him in!" The collector nodded. Today seemed to be a good day—first so many strange creatures arrived, and now the second prince of Asgard came. Who knows what surprises he might bring?
The maid left quickly to welcome Loki.
"By the way, Loki has some connection to your Earth, right?" The collector said to Josh.
"Of course, Earth is officially still part of Asgard's territory!" Josh smiled and agreed.
"But no one really believes that, right?" The collector said casually.
"I'm not so sure!" Josh smiled strangely.
Like the one who just came in now.
"What do you mean not sure? Tell me!"
At that moment, a young man in a fancy leather outfit, wearing a helmet with deer antlers, and a faint sly smile at his lips, walked in with the maid's help.
Not Tom Hiddleston... oh wait, if it's not Loki, then who?
"Oh~ Prince of Asgard, it's a great honor!" The collector opened his arms wide and bowed exaggeratedly when he saw Loki.
Tsk, looks like I'm still not important enough; the collector didn't give me such a big bow just now, Josh thought to himself.
"Please, no need for formalities!" Loki was clearly happy with the collector's attitude and waved his hand arrogantly, signaling him to stand up.
Man, still too young. Acting so proud in front of a collector older than your dad and probably by billions of years—no wonder your future is so rough.
Josh shook his head silently.
Loki saw that Josh and his group didn't bow to him like the collector did, and he didn't like it.
But at this time, Loki hadn't openly broken up with his brother or father yet, so he kept up a good attitude in front of others and didn't show anger.
Still, he made a note about Josh—because as the leader, he was very noticeable.
Besides that, the curious looks from Margaret and Carter, the two women with Josh, also annoyed him.
"Mr. Tivan has guests, I was rude. But may I ask who these people are?" Loki asked with a very warm smile.
Loki might be petty and hold grudges, but he needed to know who these people were first.
After all, he was just a prince—the second prince—and his position wasn't as good as it seemed. Many things were actually hard for him.
"We are just simple country people from Earth. It's truly an honor to meet the famous second prince of Asgard." Josh answered politely, but he purposely put extra emphasis on "second prince."
Okay, Josh was doing it on purpose.
Sure enough, when Loki heard Josh stress "second prince," his warm expression immediately turned sour.
There was no way around it—like adding "deputy" to a boss's title, being called "second prince" really hit Loki's most sensitive nerve, since he was always overshadowed by Thor's light.
Loki didn't attack directly—that showed his deep patience.
But the mention of Earth caught his attention.
"Earth? Isn't that another name for Midgard? You're Midgardians? Since when have Midgardians been able to leave that small place?" Loki asked with a frown.
"In Asgard's terms, yes, we are Midgardians, But we prefer to call ourselves Humans." Josh replied calmly, not denying it.
"Hmph, it really is a backward and ignorant place. You have the good old Midgard, yet you choose to use such a vulgar name... By the way, do you know who I am?" After confirming that they were from Earth, Loki switched to a proud expression.
"Of course, the second prince of Asgard! Didn't I just greet you?" Josh said, pretending to be confused but secretly stabbed Loki's pride again.
"Damn you, ignorant and lowly Midgardian! Don't you know Midgard is ruled by us Asgardians? Kneel and apologize to your prince!" Loki lost his patience and shouted angrily.
"Tsk... Your Highness, you can eat anything you want, but you can't say whatever you want.
Yes, some people on Earth—like in Norway and Denmark—once believed in and served you Asgardians. But that doesn't mean the whole Earth serves you. Besides, if I remember correctly, even those people worshipped your father Odin or your brother Thor, not you, Loki. So who exactly are you?" Josh said coldly, looking down on Loki.
If it was Odin or Thor here, Josh would be more careful.
But Loki? Not so much.
Of course, Josh wasn't just arguing for no reason.
Since Loki arrived, Josh had been trying to make him angry on purpose.
After all, this second prince was a useful piece to play with.
Watching the argument, the collector quietly stepped back with his maid to watch the show.
Business could wait; he didn't want to get involved in their personal fights.
Neither Josh nor Asgard behind Loki was worth causing trouble for.
