ACT 6: CHAPTER 18.2 - TOWARD THE HOLY CITY

Higher dimension realm… White space where Nyarlhotep resided.

At that moment, two figures were summoned.

Both of them were bound by chains with shackles on each of their limbs.

One of them was a tall, emaciated man dressed in a dark red robe, with deeply gloomy eyes.

The other one had a tall and muscular figure.

He had gray skin, black wings extending from his back, sharp fangs, and long horns, clearly not an appearance of that of a human.

「You've come… Two of the three abominations born in Locklore, 《Reverse Man, Luniman》, and the 《Fallen Angel, Lucifer》.」

Nyarlhotep spoke to the duo.

「NYARLHOTEP, HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU TO IMPRISON ME FOR NEARLY TEN THOUSAND YEARS IN A SPACE DEVOID OF ANYTHING WITH MY EGO INTACT! HAVE YOU GONE MAD!? I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!」

The gray man called Lucifer bared his fangs and snarled as soon as he saw Nyarlhotep.

At that moment, the restraints on Lucifer's body began to glow brighter, making his body heavier with each passing second, causing him to collapse to the ground.

「YOU BASTARD! YOU TOLD ME THAT I CAN MANAGE THAT WORLD HOWEVER I WANT, RIGHT!? THIS IS HOW YOU TREAT ME JUST BECAUSE I BECOME A THORN IN YOUR SIDE!? I WON'T FORGIVE YOU!」

Lucifer kept snarling with bloodshot eyes.

「As short-tempered as ever, but I'm glad that you're still the same as before.」

Said Nyarlhotep with a dumbfounded look on his face.

In the long history of Locklore, there were three people who almost destroyed Locklore by themselves.

Part 3

They were caught with a trap prepared by the management of Locklore, and their souls were locked in another dimension as death was simply too lenient a punishment for sinners like them.

The management side of Locklore called them, 《Eternal Sinner》.

Up until this point, the management side of Locklore had been keeping the existence of the 《Eternal Sinner》 hidden from the other gods, but now they decided to unleash those said sinners back to Locklore in order to deal with Kanata.

Luniman and Lucifer were two of the three sinners.

Lucifer was originally a demon entrusted with the adjustment of the world by Nyarlhotep. However, he used that authority for his own gain, secretly leveling up while evading the watchful eyes of higher beings. Driven by selfish reasons, he repeatedly caused major alterations to the world, and ultimately, he sought to bring about the destruction of the world itself.

The other one, the man in a red robe, Luniman… was once a mere human.

A normal human carrying darkness in his heart.

He chose to become a clergyman in order to suppress the darkness and madness inside his heart, living a modest life while fully devoting himself to God.

However, after knowing that the management of Locklore created this world as their own little garden, Luniman lost his faith.

He underwent training that no one could understand, using every means possible to gain more power. In the process, he even outsmarted the 《Invisible Hand of God》 of his era, driving the world to the brink of destruction.

In the end, the higher beings intervened, and he was banished from Locklore.

「Calm down… Demon, is it?」

Luniman called out to Lucifer.

「Hah? Who the hell are you?」

「Everything about us is in the hands of higher beings. The fact that he has gone so far as to summon us means there’s something that could benefit us in it as well… How about we listen to what he has to say first? There would be no benefit in opposing him.」

「You think you're in the same position to talk with the great me? Save your talk for when you're asleep.」

「No… In my case though, I know of several precedents where higher beings used every means at their disposal to eliminate those who became obstacles, imposing severe punishments. In fact, I was also aware of that endless hell.」

Luniman suffered from the same punishment as Lucifer.

「I don’t get it. It’s almost like you're trying to say you deliberately ended up in that prison, aren’t you?」

「There's no better place to meditate than that place.」

Luniman's lips turned up until they reached his ears, forming an eerie smile.

Hearing those words, Lucifer aside, even Nyarlhotep was put off by him.

「I've known the truth already, higher being. There must be an uncontrollable otherworlder out there, right? And if my guess is right, Locklore should be… on the brink of collapse. Right?」

「Luniman, all of your power should've been sealed.」

「Heh, no, I knew from the very beginning… My eyes can see the truth. There will be no reason for us to be called upon for anything other than such a situation. If one is in that endless hell, they are bound to be summoned at the world's end. I wanted to see that with my own eyes.」

「I-I see… That will save the story then.」

Nyarlhotep spoke while massaging his temples.

His expression then returned to normal, glaring at Luniman and Lucifer.

「I will release you from your shackles and grant you freedom within tolerable limits. If you resist, your body will grow heavy and eventually decay. But if that is what you wish, then feel free to act as you please.」

When Nyarlhotep raised his arm and conjured a magic circle, a portion of the chains binding Luniman and Lucifer shattered and fell away.

「You only have one job… Kill anyone who defies me, a god. You may choose every single means available.」

「Hou… Becoming your lackey again is one of the most detestable things for me, but since you say we can do whatever we want even if we destroy Locklore, then there's no problem! I'll join the little festival.」

Lucifer agreed in no time.

「Higher Being… This Luniman has been waiting for your order.」

「And Luniman… Head to the holy city of Rupelm right away.」

「Uhuh, what kind of place is it, I wonder?」

「That's the grave of your master. The bothersome otherworlder is just about to head there to desecrate your master's tomb.」

「Well, well… How swift you are with your words. Then, across the thousands of years… Shall we go meet the master?」

The plastered smile on Luniman's face became even scarier.
