Chapter 107 : Necromancy

The Undead General that Axton had just acquired stood before him, and even at first glance, it was nothing short of majestic and terrifying. Its bones were dense and layered, like ancient ivory hardened by the passing years.

Every joint gleamed faintly beneath the heavy armor that wrapped around its body — armor unlike any Axton had ever seen. Strange designs revealed themselves across the plates, breathing out a faint dark mist that made the air feel heavy, almost alive with dread.

The moment it appeared, the Undead General went down on one knee. Its skull tilted slightly downward, the hollow sockets glowing with blue fire that flickered in rhythm with the beating of Axton’s own heart.

"My lord," the creature spoke in a deep, resonant tone that rolled through the chamber like thunder echoing through a graveyard.

That single word carried everything Axton needed to know — submission, loyalty, and complete recognition of him as its master.

He smirked.

A grade 5, level 30 summon. That was no joke.

In terms of ranking, the Undead General stood on the same grade as his Earth Dragon and King Griffin, but it already outclassed both by sheer level and presence.

Even its aura felt heavier, like it could crush the will of lesser beings just by existing.

Now, Axton had two capable warriors at his beck and call.

The Undead General and Hell’s Knight.

With both of them, he could dominate almost any battlefield without even lifting a finger.

Still, Axton wasn’t completely satisfied. Maybe it was arrogance, or maybe just the natural greed of a player who’d tasted too much power too fast.

Grade 5 was impressive, yes. But for him, the one who’d faced down bosses far above his level, it almost felt like a tease.

"Grade 5, huh?" he muttered under his breath. "It’s good... but it could’ve been more."

He sighed softly, a faint smirk tugging his lips. "Guess I’ll just take you to the height I want you to reach myself."

The Undead General didn’t move. It stayed kneeling, perfectly still, like a statue that understood reverence better than life itself.

Axton raised a hand and called forth an item from his inventory — the Undead Mage Saint Class Book. The thick, ancient tome shimmered into existence with a low hum, wrapped in the same eerie darkness that his summon gave off. He tossed it toward the Undead General.

"Take it," he said.

The Undead General caught the book reverently with both hands, lowering its head even further as it accepted the gift. Its bony fingers trembled slightly, not out of weakness but reverence, as though it knew this gift was a test, a privilege, and a symbol of trust.

"Show me what you can do with this," Axton commanded, his tone calm yet carrying an undertone of authority that brooked no argument.

The Undead General did not hesitate.

It extended its left hand, palm facing upward. The class book floated a few inches above it, suspended by unseen power.

A thin stream of black mist began to seep out of the pages, wrapping around the creature’s arm and spreading like veins of shadow.

The pages flipped open rapidly on their own, fluttering faster and faster until the sound resembled wings beating in a storm. Then, with a sudden surge, a small black vortex formed, spinning violently above the Undead General’s palm.

Axton crossed his arms and watched in silence, his eyes sharp and calculating. He didn’t interfere. This was the summon’s moment to prove itself.

Whoosh!

The vortex pulsed once, twice, and then it shot straight into the Undead General’s chest like a bullet of pure energy. The undead groaned deeply, the sound more like a growl torn from the depths of its hollow chest.

Its armor shook, rattling like chains clanging in the dark, and then, silence. The vortex dissipated. The book vanished completely.

When the energy settled, the Undead General slowly lifted its gaze to meet Axton’s eyes again. Its aura was heavier now — thicker, darker, more refined.

Axton tilted his head slightly, satisfied. "Good," he said simply.

"Rise."

The Undead General obeyed, standing tall, and tall it was. Its armored form loomed over Axton like a monolith. The shadows it cast seemed to stretch and ripple unnaturally across the floor.

"Now," Axton said, his smirk returning. "Show me."

"As my lord wishes..." The Undead General’s voice had changed. It was deeper now, steadier, carrying an odd, almost divine echo — a voice that felt like it belonged to something ancient.

It raised one hand again, turning its palm downward as though grasping something unseen. The air below it twisted, bending into a small, swirling black vortex.

The vortex expanded slowly, releasing waves of cold air that chilled the entire place. Dust lifted off the ground, pebbles quivered, and then, with a crack, skeletal hands burst out from the floor beneath the vortex.

A small skeleton began to form, bones rattling into place one by one until it stood upright, its eye sockets glowing faintly.

Axton blinked once. Then twice.

And then, he burst into laughter.

"Hahahaha!"

It wasn’t a mockery.

He was in disbelief.

Pure, delighted disbelief.

He pointed at the new skeleton, barely able to contain his grin. "You... you actually did it!"

The Undead General bowed its head slightly. Then, with a simple gesture, it dispelled the skeleton, reducing it back into black dust.

Axton couldn’t stop laughing. He covered his face with one hand, shaking his head in amusement. "This is insane. You really just added necromancy to your arsenal."

His heart raced with excitement. As a warrior-type player, his greatest weakness had always been the lack of long-range magical versatility but now, with an undead capable of casting spells and summoning more undead, that gap was closing fast.

He’d essentially created a hybrid — a frontline tank that could also raise armies from corpses.

Ding!

The familiar chime of the system rang out.

[Congratulations!]

[The Undead General has acquired a new class.]

[Class: Mage Saint]

[The Undead General’s attributes have greatly improved.]

[New Grade: Grade 5 → Mythical Grade]

Axton’s smile froze.

"Wait... what?" he muttered, blinking rapidly.
