Chapter 1339 - 1340: Extreme Weather Phenomena
CHAPTER 1339: CHAPTER 1340: EXTREME WEATHER PHENOMENA
The group was chatting around the campfire, unaffected by the howling blizzard outside. Meanwhile, down in the mountain town, a notice was received: an anomalous phenomenon had occurred on Honite Snow Mountain, requiring Beastmasters of Legendary Level or higher to ascend for a rescue mission to find stranded climbers.
Upon seeing the information about Feng Yuan and his companions, the town’s few rescue team members couldn’t help but blame the checkpoint staff. "Even letting students like them up the mountain? You’re just inviting trouble."
The checkpoint staff felt aggrieved in return. "Come on, Veronia’s strength is undeniable. Allowing Feng Yuan and the group entry was fully within the rules."
After all, a major figure bringing their family’s heirs to Honite Snow Mountain to broaden their horizons wasn’t an issue at all. But they muttered a curse under their breath, clearly displeased with the situation. Since such individuals were susceptible to danger, rescuing them had to take priority.
Just then, the checkpoint’s phone rang. After answering, the checkpoint coordinator announced,
"Update the rescue list. That group of tourists from the Divine Land Region doesn’t need to be rescued. There are a few others—I’ll change those."
"You’re giving up on them? Won’t this cause dissatisfaction in the Divine Land Region?"
The person was taken aback and asked with concern, though letting them meet misfortune was unthinkable. The coordinator glanced at him and replied,
"Of course not. They’re safely staying at the snow mountain lodge with Anna. They face no danger."
After hearing this, the other person’s worries eased. "Oh, thank goodness. Looks like their curiosity saved them."
Listening to the words, the checkpoint coordinator frowned slightly. Excluding Feng Yuan and his companions, the remaining individuals would still be troublesome to deal with. Hopefully, they could hold out until the rescue team arrived...
Inside the snow mountain lodge, after hearing Anna’s words, Feng Yuan and the others were stunned. Glancing at the completely darkened sky outside, Feng Yuan commented,
"No way? This blizzard will go on for a long time?"
"From the current observations, yes. This anomalous disruption in the Earth Energy Circulation doesn’t only affect Honite Snow Mountain with extreme weather; other energy discharge points are showing abnormalities as well. Wilt Bay’s volcano is the real headache."
Anna sighed heavily, her expression troubled. Feng Yuan, puzzled, asked,
"Wilt Bay has a volcano?"
As a famous tourist city in Dantia, Wilt Bay is home to the crescent-shaped beach and the historic Garden Castle preserving the Dynasty Era’s architectural charm. It was one of the destinations Feng Yuan’s group planned to visit. During his research, he hadn’t encountered any records mentioning a volcano.
"Yes, but it’s thought to be a dormant volcano, unlikely to erupt. Yet here we are... Who knows what’s going on."
Anna sighed again, turning her gaze to Feng Yuan and his group. "It’s best if you wait here for the blizzard to end. The lodge has enough food reserves—though it might not be very tasty. With this weather, I can’t safely escort you down the mountain."
Though she had two Legendary-Level Spirit Beasts on hand, escorting a large group like Feng Yuan’s safely was no simple task. One small mistake could lead to disaster.
"No need to escort us. We’ll protect them."
Agunas flicked its tail and said boldly. "A mere blizzard—nothing to fear. Even if this shows signs of evolving into an ultimate move, it’s still no match for Divine Beasts. If five Divine Beasts can’t protect such a small group, then surviving under this blizzard would be impossible for anyone."
"You? I can’t gauge your strength, but caution should be exercised. The blizzard wouldn’t care who you are."
Anna looked at Feng Yuan and his companions with concern. Maybe she was reminded of a child who ran away one stormy night in the past—a memory that still left her feeling uneasy, despite the child being found safe and sound.
Feng Yuan chuckled and glanced at Anna. "Don’t worry. It’s Agunas—the Time..."
Anna froze upon hearing Feng Yuan’s introduction. Wait—what kind of people were these, traveling with five Divine Beasts? Even if the Divine Beasts were merely companions, this was simply terrifying!
Long Boduo was crouched by the window, staring out into the blackened, stormy night. "Speaking of which, I wonder if my ultimate move for weather is still effective."
"Divine Beast Techniques could forcibly override it, but ordinary ultimate moves probably won’t," Feng Yuan analyzed thoughtfully. "Right now, this is essentially an ordinary weather ultimate move being continuously unleashed. Normal moves function once and then get overridden. Divine Beast Techniques, however, wouldn’t be overwritten by this kind of weather phenomenon."
"But it doesn’t seem like there are any Divine Beast Techniques specifically for weather..."
Long Boduo glanced at Agunas, which flicked its tail and replied,
"There’s no Divine Beast Technique solely dedicated to altering weather."
Techniques causing weather changes indirectly didn’t count; specialized Divine Beast Techniques for changing weather didn’t seem to exist.
"True, even Starry Sky Prayer doesn’t qualify as a weather ultimate move."
Najia, nearby, added thoughtfully. It had many Divine Beast Techniques capable of influencing atmospheric conditions, but none qualified as a dedicated weather ultimate move.
"Since your safety is guaranteed, I’m relieved. Please watch over them on my behalf," Anna said.
"What are you planning to do?"
Feng Yuan asked, confused, when Anna pushed some Small Ice Flowers toward their group. Smiling faintly, she replied,
"I’ll prepare your dinner. Though, I warn you, my cooking skills are not as refined as a chef’s."
"Oh, we can handle that ourselves, right?"
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan looked at Qi Chen, who chuckled and replied,
"Sure, we can do that. The kitchen is just past the staircase. All the ingredients are there. Feel free to use them if you’re hungry."
After Anna left, Feng Yuan stretched and said, "Hmm... Should we prepare dinner now?"
"It’s only a little past four, and the sky’s already pitch black?"
Staring out the window, Dou Yanlan mumbled to herself. She wasn’t sure if their luck was good or bad to encounter something like this. Feng Yuan checked his phone and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, wouldn’t have guessed the blizzard would be this intense."
The Small Ice Flowers were playfully circling Big Cat, seemingly looking for its attention. Strangely, Big Cat was unusually patient with these weak Spirit Beasts. Pomiti casually mingled with the Small Ice Flowers, joining in their playful antics—though it seemed unaware of its actions.
Veronia glanced at Agunas and asked, "What do you think?"
"Though no anomalies are apparent here, caution is essential. If something goes wrong here as well..."
The Divine Land Region was still grappling with its problems. If the Earth Energy Circulation anomaly in the Omeilia Region escalated, it could spell major trouble. But since they weren’t technically Divine Beasts of the Omeilia Region, they couldn’t investigate the matter directly. Belusir chimed in,
"Ernis seems to be investigating this as well."
"That doesn’t surprise me. It doesn’t want Omeilia destroyed, though its methods can be a bit extreme."
Agunas flicked its tail and remarked. Ernis was the type to dismantle a problem without explanation if it deemed it unworthy of existing. However, it certainly didn’t harbor hatred toward Omeilia.
Still, could they truly uncover the truth relying solely on themselves? It was hard to say. Back in the Divine Land Region, they hadn’t expected the perpetrators to be so reckless—or that their actions weren’t about destroying Earth Energy Circulation but about contamination.
"What a hassle," Agunas muttered under its breath, choosing not to dwell further on the matter. Let the Divine Beasts belonging to the Omeilia Region fret over this.
Feng Yuan glanced at Agunas and asked, "So... You’re all investigating the Earth Energy Circulation anomaly?"
"Yes. These extreme weather events are all linked to the Earth Energy Circulation. If we don’t investigate and it turns out similar to the Divine Land Region’s situation, it’ll be catastrophic."
Agunas flicked its tail uneasily. Feng Yuan looked at it and asked casually, "What about the Sky Energy Circulation? That’s important too, right? As long as the Sky Energy Circulation isn’t compromised, there might still be emergency solutions."
Agunas froze. It had completely overlooked that! The issues in the Divine Land Region stemmed in part from prior damage to the Sky Energy Circulation. However, Omeilia’s Sky Energy Circulation hadn’t shown any signs of trouble just yet.
