Chapter 1348 - 1349: The Secret of the Crystal Cave
CHAPTER 1348: CHAPTER 1349: THE SECRET OF THE CRYSTAL CAVE
Agunas’ fireball illuminated the dark cavern passage, and the crystals reflected an unusual glow under its light. Feng Yuan and his companions occasionally glanced at their feet. Not long after entering the cavern, the rocks beneath them began to change, with crystalline streaks crisscrossing underfoot, standing out prominently against the rocky ground.
"This place is a bit strange."
Observing the surroundings, Feng Yuan spoke. Perhaps because it had never been documented, the book Agunas had given him contained no detailed information about this Crystal Cave. Yet Feng Yuan could deduce that this Crystal Cave was likely no ordinary place. Belusir, observing the crystalline bands, remarked,
"These seem to have a trace of Mystic Series power, even with a slight effect of influencing fate."
"Then this has nothing to do with the Earth Energy Circulation."
Scratching his head, Feng Yuan said, whether it was Mystic Series power or Fate Series power, neither belonged to the energy spilling out from this place’s earth energy circulation point. After all, even in the earth energy circulation, similar energies weren’t abundant.
"But, it shouldn’t be any strange ruins, right?"
Saying this, Feng Yuan looked at Agunas. If it wasn’t naturally formed, the possibility of ruins would have to be considered. If they were ruins, it might be troublesome, especially since being situated at a circulation point makes the situation unpredictable.
Agunas’ face changed as he said,
"Hold on a second!"
He pulled out the Golden Tome Page. Perhaps feeling it was not enough, Agunas also took out the book. A golden light column shot up and instantly enveloped the whole Honite Mountain, astonishing a group at the checkpoint below, one of whom lamented,
"What’s happening again? What’s up with this Honite Mountain?"
"That’s not an attack, wait..."
Recalling something, the man dialed Feng Yuan’s phone number. He and Feng Yuan had exchanged numbers previously, so he naturally had his phone number. To understand the situation, asking Feng Yuan might be quicker, especially since Feng Yuan had mentioned earlier they would go up the mountain today.
After a while, the man put down the phone and said,
"No need to worry for now. Someone is investigating the Crystal Cave."
"Crystal Cave?! Someone is going into that extremely dangerous area?"
"They wouldn’t cause destruction in the Crystal Cave, would they? Although that area is a high-risk zone, the energy reaction there..."
Hearing the checkpoint staff whispering, the man shook his head and said,
"The Divine Beasts are there too, so there shouldn’t be any major issues. Furthermore, that Crystal Cave indeed poses a problem."
With such a bizarre thing, who knows what lies within? They had once considered investigating the real situation inside the Crystal Cave, but gave up due to unforeseen circumstances. Looking back, they should have found out what was inside the Crystal Cave back then.
Inside the Crystal Cave of Honite Mountain, Agunas put away the book and Golden Tome Page, examining the crystals with an indescribable expression. Veronia, seeing Agunas didn’t explain, couldn’t help but ask,
"What exactly is going on?"
"The Crystal Cave is a somewhat special natural formation. Don’t worry. These crystals cannot be destroyed, or it would be troublesome."
Flicking his tail, Agunas floated up and said,
"I’ll lead the way. You’re not planning to explore the whole Crystal Cave, are you?"
"Of course not, I’m not that bored, but does this place have a core region?"
Stunned, Feng Yuan looked at Agunas, feeling a bit incredulous. If it was naturally formed, why would there be a core region? If not, Agunas wouldn’t have said that, but rather mentioned taking him to see interesting places.
"Indeed, there is a core region here, or rather, this place... Never mind, you’ll understand when we get there."
With a flick of his tail, Agunas floated towards one of the passages. As they advanced, the crystalline objects started to resemble branches. At this point, the crystal branches not only appeared beneath the passageway but sometimes obstructed their path. Even when faced with obstructed pathways, Agunas didn’t use an ultimate move to clear the way but instead led them through space gates formed by short-distance spatial distortion.
"These things wouldn’t have a defense mechanism, would they?"
Seeing Agunas’ actions, Feng Yuan guessed and said. After glancing at Feng Yuan, Agunas nodded and replied,
"Indeed, once these crystals are damaged, a defense mechanism will be triggered. Although it can be dealt with, it would be very troublesome."
Placing a paw on the crystal, Agunas said. Feng Yuan looked curiously at Agunas and said,
"No, how do you know that? Did you use precognition?"
"That’s... not exactly, you’ll understand when you see it."
Sighing, Agunas seemed unwilling to bring up the matter. The potted flower being held by Qi Chen curiously glanced around, looking at the crystal branches. It felt a sort of familiar sensation? The potted leaves and trees darted around Qi Chen’s feet, sometimes even approaching the crystal branches.
Long Boduo pointed at the crystal branch and said,
"Is this thing a life form too? It doesn’t look like one."
"Don’t be reckless."
Glaring at Long Boduo, Agunas warned. He didn’t want to fight against those defense mechanisms here. That fleeting Fate’s Guidance startled Belusir, who looked at Agunas and said,
"No way?!"
"Did you see it?"
"What are you guys talking about?"
Long Boduo asked, puzzled, looking at Belusir and Agunas. Veronia wanted to inquire, but Belusir shook its head at her. Seeing this, Veronia turned to Agunas and asked,
"How far until we reach the core region?"
"Very soon, its range isn’t particularly large; it just took us a lot of time to descend."
Holding Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan hesitated whether to use the precognitive ability to see the truth directly, but after thinking it over, he gave up. Since Agunas said it was close, they could wait and see.
As they approached the core region, the obstructing crystal branches became denser, to the point where Agunas had to use spatial distortion consecutively to maneuver them around and bypass these crystal branches. Sensing the somewhat familiar force, Feng Yuan seemed to understand something and, while fiddling with the chicken-tail on Xiao Ji, who had turned into an Eggshell Chicken, said,
"I see, but these aren’t living entities, right?"
He could detect energy flowing in the crystal branches, but its speed was extraordinarily slow and lacked the liveliness typical to life forms. Agunas nodded and said,
"They’re indeed not living, but neither can they be considered dead. They are a kind of special existence."
"Neither alive nor dead? That’s really unique. But with its power, encountering such a situation isn’t particularly surprising."
As he spoke, they arrived at an open hall. The pot plants suddenly let out a surprised cry, startling Qi Chen and the others. Observing the massive crystal giant tree before them, Veronia said,
"I see, is this the thing that had you speaking in riddles? A spirit beast turned into a dead colossal tree?"
"This power seems to be from Nainefar? No wonder it’s neither li"ving nor dead."
At this moment, Veronia also noticed the faint power within the crystal giant tree. It seemed to uphold the entire space, while beneath it, various mystical crystal flowers of red and blue bloomed, emitting a faint glow.
The crystalline branches Feng Yuan and the others saw along the way extended from this crystal giant tree. The rock walls were supported by these crystalline branches, like a gigantic mountain held up by a giant. Veronia, deep in thought, said,
"So, this place forming such a peculiar environment is also related to it?"
Surveying the surroundings, Feng Yuan said,
"That should be the case, and those flowers are the dissipating energy of the earth energy circulation that’s been subdued, right? But why does it do this?"
Gazing around, Feng Yuan puzzledly asked. Belusir took a moment to snap out of it and said,
"It’s for this sea of flowers. Though the one it waits for has long gone, it still guards this sea of flowers. It didn’t die from exhaustion, just reached the end of its life."
Looking at the crystal giant tree, Belusir sighed. Even though the spirit beasts generally live much longer than humans, they still have an end. Whether dying of old age is fortunate or unfortunate for it, who can say?
