Divine Magus: Awakening
Chapter 57: Divine Core
CHAPTER 57: DIVINE CORE
Unable to heal herself, Minerva soon found white cracks running through her body.
"The only sad part about this is your eventual death. You are using A-rank magic when being only D-rank. Your mana and magic might be a mass fusion of others’ but that doesn’t exempt you from the laws of the world." She let out a smug smile as the cracks completely covered her.
"See you in hell." And then she vanished
Logan’s body broke down. Waves of immense pain rocked his body and filled his vision with large black spots.
His pseudo core started cracking and releasing flares of energy.
Gripping his head that felt like it was being screwed open, he let out a blood-curdling scream.
The rumbling ground increased in intensity until it appeared as though the world was convulsing.
Bolts of lightning fell and charred the battlefield, leaving next to no trace of the confrontation.
White arcs ran along Logan as he appeared about to vanish from existence.
In the dark clouds above, lightning began to converge.
Slowly but certainly - inevitably, a large bolt of orange lightning slowly weaved itself into existence.
The world cores in Logan’s legs almost collapsed on themselves as they drained his body to refill their reservoir.
His hair slowly lost all the different streaks it possessed until it was pure black.
Like a finger from a god beyond, the large lightning bolt descended and struck Logan.
His black hair gained orange streaks as he convulsed with foam pouring out of his mouth.
With his hair now turning white, he fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
The world stopped trembling and the clouds dispersed in respect of the one that had fallen.
In his sacral vertebrae, the pseudo core shattered completely, and his mana and life force started to disperse into the world energy.
Logan was dying and this time, there was next to no hope whatsoever; no Rune Magus to give another pseudo core, no academy healer to keep him alive.
Even the people he was with were in a battle of their own.
As Logan’s mana and life force began to disperse, something bizarre occurred.
The faint and incorporeal cyan energy that leaked out of his body seemed almost liquid as it poured into the world.
It was far too thick to be the life force of one human.
As it mixed with the world energy, it created streams of white colored mana and once enough was formed, it started to flow back into Logan.
The energy centered itself into his vertebrae and quickly condensed until a small white star-like sphere formed.
With a gasp, Logan’s eyes flew open.
His body still trembled and ached from immense exhaustion, a pulse of energy left his body and his arm regrew with a speed visible to the naked eye.
Seeing this, Logan rose to his feet - a decision he soon came to regret as a wave of dizziness and pain hit him.
Falling to his knees, Logan noticed the stiff feeling that permeated his lower back.
Setting his focus over there, he noticed the presence of the white sphere that rotated ever so slowly.
His eyes became needle points.
"Is this a mana core?!" Logan stumbled back and tripped on the ground.
Ignoring his fall and the slight pain that followed, Logan couldn’t stop focusing on his mana core.
"How did it reform?" His eyes unfocused as memories hit him.
"Multi casting? Silent Casting? White energy magic?" Images from his fight against the noble and now the blood Witch flashed in his head.
Turning over to face the ground, he emptied out the contents of his stomach.
Wave upon wave of dizziness hit him.
As he calmed down, he wiped his mouth and sat at a reasonable distance away from his regurgitation.
"So what now?" He asked himself, not even aware that he was speaking aloud.
"I don’t know what the crystal was or what it did to me." He ran his hand through his hair.
"But silent casting and true casting, even wielding all elements and regrowing a mana core is far from normal." He sighed.
While he wanted to help Orion, he could barely move and would only be a hindrance especially since he didn’t know how his mana core worked now.
"Is it even a mana core?" Logan pondered and placed his focus on it.
"A magic that can erase anything it touches and a mana core that has been formed from it." He quickly surmised.
"So it’s capable of creation alongside obliteration." His mind raced.
"Divine Magic and my divine core." Logan named the magic exclusive to him alone and the core formed from it.
He sat in a cross-legged lotus position and tried to start channeling world energy into himself.
After about ten minutes, he had enough mana and energy to move.
Picking up his tachi and placing it in his dark space, Logan let out a contented sigh. It was far more convenient than carrying it around by hand.
By this time, the bloodied and torn windbreaker he had on had cleaned and repaired itself - one of its perks.
Following the sound of collisions in the distance, Logan attempted to track down Orion and the prince.
On his trail, he noticed large pools of water that stirred oddly and had no business being this inland.
Furthermore, the cuts on the trees and the ground spoke of Orion’s presence in the area.
He ran down the clear battle path and eventually found them.
************
A large dome of metal was fastened deeply into the soup and a massive sword clearly created from water clashed repeatedly with it.
A man neatly dressed in the golden royal army was floating mid-air.
He created blades from water and sent them colliding with the dome.
Without hesitation or pause, Logan used dark flash to close the distance between him and the man.
Space rippled around him and his tachi appeared in his hand.
He jumped into the air and found a water blade already flying to him.
