CHAPTER 59: VOID MAGUS

Orion hesitated for a moment before creating a small gap in the dome to see what was happening on the outside.

________

The sword made of water covered the distance between them in moments.

Gripping the tachi tighter, Logan fired a dark shot to his left and the generated force threw him aside - away from danger.

Orion’s eyes widened at what Logan did.

It wasn’t the shadow skills he was using but rather magic. Logan was casting magic.

Orion pointed his hand at Logan and sent pieces of the dome to him.

Mid-flight, they turned into tiny blades that Logan caught.

Space flickered around his hand and the tiny weapons vanished.

"The Blood Witch. Where is she?" The royal guard tilted his head to the side.

"She must have left me to deal with both of you. Tsk." He tutted.

"No problem though." His eyes took on a fierce blue glow.

"World Tsunami." The ocean surrounding the island started to surge.

Logan, on the other hand, was wondering why he was unable to cast Divine Magic like he had just been doing not too long ago.

Large waves that appeared to touch the very skies rose and flowed inland drowning and destroying anything and everything unfortunate enough to be in their path.

"There’s no escape. As long as you carry the prince with you, I’ll find and kill you." The guard spoke with a calm rage.

Squinting his eyes and watching the encroaching tsunami, shadows burst out of Logan and wrapped around him and Orion.

The tsunami crashed against the island and threatened to drown it.

The land creaked and groaned but eventually succumbed to the waves.

Now all that was left was a sinking mass of land with a man wearing golden armour floating hundreds of meters in the air. Logan, Orion, and the prince were nowhere to be seen.

______

On the shore where they had initially embarked on their journey to the island, shadows flared and burst, throwing out Logan and Orion.

The world cores of the former collapsed and sent a raging wave of chaotic world energy coursing through Logan.

The muscles of his legs started to wriggle and rip apart.

Gritting his teeth, he tried to endure the pain but coupled with the aches he already had and the weakness that filled him, he passed out.

************

Deeper in the kingdom or more specifically, underneath the castle, there was an ongoing meeting amongst the four most influential people in the kingdom.

The room where the meeting was taking place was a dark cave with only a floating sphere of light as illumination.

The only entrance into the place was a four-inch-thick metal door.

In total, there were four seats in place. One had the image of a flame carved into it.

Another had a growing sapling etched on it while the third had an archaic symbol drawn on it.

The last and biggest seat had a crown on it.

They were seated around a round table in silence.

"So you mean to say that the Soul King is not in the empire?" Aaron leaned forward and placed his elbows on the table.

The Rune Magus, meanwhile, ignored him and turned to the one in the crowned seat, the King.

"Your majesty, I believe it already knew of my coming. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been able to escape so quickly or done so without a trace of its presence." He continued his statement.

"The Soul King is troublesome, sure but it hasn’t caused anyone in the kingdom substantial losses." The King of the Dawn Kingdom spoke.

He was in his early fifties with a muscular physique and sun-kissed skin. His black hair had yellow and white streaks that complemented his amber eyes.

Currently, he had on armor typical of the royal guards to blend in when necessary.

"If I may, countless citizens and even a student have lost innumerable and invaluable things to that fiend." Victor corrected the royal seated to his left.

"Ah yes. That boy who lost his mana core. I believe he has undergone Body Enchantment, and it was successful, so I see nothing to worry about or even why the topic was even brought up." King Julian stood before walking to the door stopping just short of it.

"Discuss amongst yourselves on how to kill it and when you’re done with it, meet me with its head." He walked out.

The three magi looked at each other before deciding mentally to discuss the matter but before they could speak, the shadows rippled and a figure emerged.

Before he could finish materializing, it met a blade coated in black flames pointing at its neck.

The shadows covering its body fell and revealed a young man, barely twenty years of age, in a black tunic.

His hair and eyes were jet black like they devoured all light that fell on them.

"Calm down, Death Magus." The young man chuckled before blinking out of existence and appearing behind Aaron.

This time however, a blade fashioned from shadows was nicked against Aaron’s throat.

"Before I think that you’re trying to attack me." He completed before dispersing the blade.

"We greet you." The Rune Magus stood and bowed to the young man.

"Void Magus." He whispered.

The eyes of Aaron and Victor alike widened at the revelation that had just been made.

The Void Magus walked slowly with calm and measured steps that failed to make a sound.

"I thought no one knew of my existence apart from the King. Clearly, I was wrong. Not really surprising though, you are the exalted Rune Magus." The Void Magus chuckled.

"Why is there a Void Magus?" Aaron asked, his eyes darting between the Rune Magus and the Void Magus while Victor, on the other hand, remained stunned in silence.

"The Death Magus uses purely destructive magic, The Life Magus can create life and finally, the Rune Magus represents all things mana." The Void Magus put some distance between himself and the other three magi.

"I, the Void Magus, embody everything that exists outside of mana and world energy."
