CHAPTER 440: CHAPTER 373 SPORTS FIELD BENDING_2

"Qingqing, your wrist looks really nice."

Li Qingrong paused for a moment and then glanced over the question again.

"Yeah."

A few minutes later, Li Qingrong had finished explaining the question to him.

"Did you understand?"

Jiang Nian carefully looked over it again, nodded, and said thank you. Then he turned back and continued diligently with his work.

After a while, Jiang Nian turned around again to ask.

"Wanna take a walk around the playground?"

Upon hearing this, Li Qingrong raised his head to look at him, slightly surprised.

"Aren’t you going to continue working on the questions?"

"Take a break for a bit; I didn’t go out during the recess." He glanced at his phone, "Let’s go out for ten minutes."

Li Qingrong pursed his lips and averted his gaze.

"Sure."

So the two of them got up, leaving the classroom one after the other.

There weren’t many people in the classroom, so their departure didn’t attract any notice. After all, everyone was focused on their own tasks.

They descended to the third floor.

Jiang Nian glanced at room 304, to find that indeed everyone from Olympic Competition Class 4 had left.

The sports ground closed at eight, and the rubber track was a bit wet. But there weren’t any large puddles, just slight dampness here and there.

Under the moonlight, there was a bang from the soccer field.

He turned his head toward the sound and saw a few people kicking a ball under the streetlights near the faculty apartment area adjacent to the sports field.

Jiang Nian was a bit dumbfounded, looking again at the soccer field.

The field had water puddles, yet they were so into it?

Skipping class to practice soccer?

He only heard a couple of exclamations, followed by a bang as the ball was kicked awry and, vaguely, flew in their direction.

In the darkness, the trajectory wasn’t clear.

Jiang Nian instinctively stepped back a few paces, stopping the flying soccer ball with muscle memory, and kicked it back forcefully.

Soccer, in truth, is considered a somewhat noble competitive sport.

First off, you need a decent field, then a goal. Plus, you need enough people; even five or six people playing doesn’t feel quite right.

Not many at school love playing soccer; most of the boys prefer basketball. Mainly because there are more courts and easier to form teams.

These few seemed peculiar, skipping study sessions to play soccer.

"What grade are you guys in?" Jiang Nian called out from a distance.

"Senior Year, Class 304."

"Huh?" Jiang Nian, hearing that they were from Olympic Competition Class 4, first instinctively didn’t believe it, then found it reasonable.

Usually, Class 4 takes the blame often, so much so that it’s hard to believe anyone from Class 4 would dare skip class.

"After all the demerits I’ve chalked up for you, you still dare fool around?"

But thinking again, Class 4’s new headteacher was going through menopause. The Class 4 kids were so used to lice it didn’t itch anymore, they just didn’t care.

"Which class are you guys from?" someone asked back, not coming forward, figures obscured in the darkness, only vague outlines visible.

"Oh, Olympic Competition Class 1." Jiang Nian habitually passed the buck.

Beside him, Li Qingrong glanced at him then discreetly averted her eyes, until they rounded the end of the track.

She suddenly asked, "You’re from Class 1?"

"Well, sort of, always wanted to transfer out." Jiang Nian seemed insincere, "Heard there are lots of girls in Class 1, Yuan Zhengchuan transferred and was over the moon."

"He was hot with Ji Ming’s niece before, then found a new girlfriend last month again and again."

"I went early last time, not even half-past six. Saw Yuan Zhengchuan and his little girlfriend snuggling and smooching at the school gate."

"It was foggy early in the morning, scared me half to death. I thought the Resident Evil mod had arrived, zombies on the road."

When Jiang Nian mentioned wanting to transfer classes, Li Qingrong gave him a long look. Listening to his subsequent quips, it sounded like a comedy skit.

It’s so obvious he’s joking.

But she didn’t know what to say, so she just let him banter away. They circled around several times, occasionally glancing up to answer him.

After about ten minutes, they headed directly upstairs.

Until the second evening self-study session ended, the lecture finally finished. The classmates returned with faces weary, though some appeared excited.

"Damn, should’ve known not to go." Li Hua returned to his seat, retrieved a water bottle from the desk, and gulped down half of it.

"Yeah, it was totally pointless." Ma Guojun came over to Jiang Nian, "Damn, did you work on problems throughout both sessions?"

"What’s up?" Jiang Nian shook his hair, standing up, "Finished one and a half worksheets, wanna go drain the dragon?"

"Damn, you’re intense!" Ma Guojun adjusted his glasses, "Let’s go, let’s go, bring along Li Hua, the fool, I’m going too."

The three of them walked off with arms over each other’s shoulders.

Zhang Ningzhi curiously glanced over at Jiang Nian’s desk, flipping through the worksheets and found that the problems were all completed.

But there were two different handwritings on one big chemistry problem.

The bell rang.

The three entered the restroom just in time, some people were leaving. But there weren’t many open spots, so the three had to stand next to each other.

Mid-relief, Jiang Nian suddenly peeked over at Li Hua.

"Holy shit!! You’re kidding me!" Li Hua was startled, nearly stopped midway, "You lunatic, what’s wrong with you!"

Jiang Nian was all curious, looking at Li Hua while still relieving himself.

"Why aren’t you going?"

"Hahaha!!" Ma Guojun burst into laughter, almost making a mess, "I know an old Chinese doctor."

"Screw you guys, you’re all freaks." Li Hua bolted, not even bothering to fasten his belt, refusing to engage in this kind of 80s nonsense.

And Jiang Nian and Ma Guojun burst into raucous laughter in the restroom, creating echoes that set Li Hua on edge.

Thus, when the three returned to the classroom.

Ma Guojun and Jiang Nian were all smiles, except for Li Hua.

However, after taking his seat.

Li Hua couldn’t hold back, pulling Jiang Nian into a discussion about soccer before making a remark.

"By the way, you really missed out by skipping the lecture."

"How so?"

"A bunch of liberal arts class girls went too, I saw a particularly pretty one." Li Hua was gesturing wildly, clown-like.

"Liberal arts class?" Jiang Nian rubbed his chin, pondering for a moment, "Isn’t that the class upstairs? Which class was it?"

"Probably the liberal arts Olympic class, should be Class 1." Li Hua wasn’t sure, "That guy, Lin Dong even snuck some photos."

"Heard Yang Qiming knows that girl, but it doesn’t sound very reliable."

Jiang Nian just listened casually, not taking it seriously.

"Speaking of which, I actually know a girl from the liberal arts class. I think she’s in Class 1 too, don’t know if she went."

On hearing this, Zhang Ningzhi, who was solving problems, turned to look at him.

"You know someone from the liberal arts?"

"Uh..." Jiang Nian felt a sort of tartness, "Just happened to meet, haven’t talked much."

"Is she pretty?" Li Hua perked up, smelling the drama.

"How should I put it?" Jiang Nian rubbed his chin again, hesitated for a moment, "Zhen Nan’s number one ’Pleasant Goat,’ you figure it out."

"Oh." Li Hua’s curiosity waned immediately, "If she’s called ’Pleasant Goat,’ she can’t be a good person."

"Precisely the opposite." Jiang Nian wanted to say more, glanced over at Zhang Ningzhi, and meeting her gaze, stopped himself.

After the end of evening self-study.

"Zhizhi, I’m heading home." Jiang Nian patted her head, grabbing his bag, "You should head home early too."

"Mm-hmm." Zhang Ningzhi nodded.

She was already used to Jiang Nian’s various little gestures, initially she would correct him. Now she was somewhat desensitized, letting him be.

"See you tomorrow." Zhizhi waved.

Adorably cute.

"Yeah, see you tomorrow." Jiang Nian waved as he exited, merging into the hallway crowd.

On the third floor.

Xu Qianqian spotted him popping up from the staircase, so she joined the descending crowd. The two of them, one behind the other, met on the ground floor.

"Didn’t you attend the lecture?"

"Nope, busy with questions." Jiang Nian yawned, "The lecture was a waste of time; did you go?"

"Yeah, I did." Xu Qianqian yawned too, walking lazily forward, "Why so diligent?"

"To win the bet with you, of course." Jiang Nian casually draped an arm around her shoulder.

Xu Qianqian was confused, and after having her shoulder pulled in, a warm breath brushed by her ear, making her shiver.

"You weirdo!"

She shoved Jiang Nian, her earlobes turning red.
