CHAPTER 145: CHAPTER 141 HER TEARS, WERE THEY SHED FOR HIM? _2
The two were about the same height, and their auras were equally matched. Shen Yanchen exhaled a puff of white smoke and asked, "Why did you do that?"
Mo Ming smiled and asked, "Are you referring to sleeping with your fiancée?"
Shen Yanchen didn’t speak, he just stared at him.
"Why? Is there a reason? It’s just that I can’t stand you." Mo Ming pretended to be casual, not wanting him to know he did such a foolish thing for Gu Qimiao.
Shen Yanchen asked skeptically, "Aren’t you afraid she’ll be heartbroken?"
Mo Ming said in a boastful tone, "I didn’t expect she cared so much about me. You saw her at the police station; her eyes were swollen from crying over this. I comforted her all night."
Shen Yanchen bit his teeth, crushed the half-smoked cigarette under his foot, irritated by Mo Ming’s lack of appreciation for her, and angry at himself for not being able to protect her under his own wing sooner.
Behind Mo Ming’s smile was a bitter heart. Her tears, who were they really for?
As the two men were lost in their own thoughts, footsteps approached from afar. They saw Gu Qimiao running up, holding a scroll of paintings in her hands.
"Mo Ming?" Seeing the two men standing together, she was a little surprised. "Weren’t you going to the competition? Why are you back so early?"
Mo Ming glared at her. "If I didn’t come back, where were you planning to go?" He thought Gu Qimiao had come down again to follow Shen Yanchen out.
"No, I just came down to deliver something." She then turned to Shen Yanchen, handing the scroll of paintings to him. "Give this to Sister Wen if you get a chance..."
Shen Yanchen glanced at it and reached out to take it, but before the scroll was fully in his hand, Mo Ming grabbed her other arm and pulled her away.
Gu Qimiao stumbled two steps before she steadied herself, turning back to wave at Shen Yanchen. "Goodbye."
Before she finished speaking, Mo Ming pulled her hard, causing her to stagger again.
Seeing Mo Ming being rough with her, Shen Yanchen clenched his fist, a cold fury flickering in his eyes.
He unfolded the scroll and took a look. The sight of Lu Qianwen’s face on it disgusted him. With anger, he threw the scroll onto the back seat, got back into his car, and sped off, venting his frustration on the gas pedal.
Gu Qimiao spent two days finishing the sketch. She arranged a time and went to Shen Yanchen’s company in the afternoon.
When she arrived, he was still in a meeting, so Gu Qimiao wandered around the company and then waited on the sofa outside the conference room.
After over an hour, the conference room door finally opened, and a group of formally dressed men and women walked out. Gu Qimiao watched them, but Shen Yanchen was nowhere to be seen.
Feeling puzzled, she stood up and walked towards the conference room door. Just as she was about to peek inside, someone blocked her path.
Gu Qimiao quickly straightened up, hearing He Ye’s voice beside her: "Looking for Brother Shen?"
Gu Qimiao forced a smile and nodded. He Ye glanced inside, pointed to Gu Qimiao, and then walked away.
The next moment, Shen Yanchen walked out in his immaculate suit, looking authoritative and handsome, exuding a strong leadership aura.
"How long have you waited?" he asked.
Gu Qimiao smiled and replied, "Just a while."
He nodded slightly and started walking. "Let’s go."
Gu Qimiao hugged her sketchbook, jogged two steps to keep up, and walked alongside him.
Even doing nothing felt fine; just being in his presence and watching him go about his day brought her joy.
Entering his office, she felt it looked different from her last visit, though she couldn’t pinpoint what had changed.
He walked over, pulled the curtains closed to block the glaring sunlight, and picked up a remote to turn on the air conditioning.
Gu Qimiao stood in the middle of the room for a moment and then intended to sit by the small table from her last visit. However, he put down the remote and gestured to an office partition, saying, "Come with me."
Gu Qimiao immediately followed him, realizing what was different—there was now a partition.
The partition was set up by the previous floor-to-ceiling window with glass walls, giving a faint view of the interior design.
As he walked towards the partition, he said, "This is the studio I prepared for you. Given the large volume of work this time, it would be inconvenient for you to keep running around. Plus, my schedule is hard to pin down, so I hope you can temporarily move here for us to communicate easily firsthand."
Gu Qimiao was so excited her mind stopped functioning. Did this mean she would share an office with him?
Earlier, she regretted not sharing his profession, but now she felt glad she chose painting.
He pushed open the glass door, revealing the interior. The glass room was about fifty to sixty square meters, spacious enough for a studio, and exquisitely decorated like a fairy tale crystal world.
By the door were two small sofas, a glass round table by the window, and a prop potted plant in the center, with a wooden house hanging from its fake branches. The tree trunk had small holes like pen holders, perfect for storing art supplies.
A low wall bordered the room with potted plants atop, a bookshelf in the corner, and a wall hung with picture frames.
Any painter would be enchanted by such a place.
Shen Yanchen watched as she scrutinized the room without responding to his suggestion, so he simply stated, "This will be your studio from now on."
His voice snapped Gu Qimiao back to reality. She turned her head and asked, "But won’t this... disturb your work?"
"No, just get used to the new environment as soon as possible."
On the surface, Gu Qimiao remained calm, as if her boss had just assigned her a new desk, but inwardly, she was already thrilled.
