CHAPTER 97: CHAPTER 97: ONLY HE KNOWS HOW MUCH SHE LOVES THAT MAN

The door to the hospital room closed, and the smile on Gu Moming’s face disappeared instantly. He gritted his teeth and angrily punched the bed board, making a "bang" sound.

The idea that her love for him allowed his bullying was nothing but his delusion. Only he knew how much she loved that man, and it had never changed in eighteen years.

He could only try to break them apart to keep her by his side.

Wanting to get up but unable to move, that sense of powerlessness was truly unbearable.

"Ugh!" He furiously grabbed at whatever he could reach, tearing down the IV bottle, which shattered with a "crash" on the ground.

Nurses hurriedly rushed in, several of them holding him down, giving him a sedative shot before he calmed down.

Shen Yanchen returned to the hospital room, sat for a while, and when the time seemed right, he took the meal to the hospital’s microwave to heat it up before coming back.

Walking to the bedside, he gently patted her face and said softly, "Wake up and eat."

She stretched her arms like a kitten, opened her eyes to look at him, and smiled at him. Shen Yanchen was momentarily dazed, his heart tingling, though his face showed nothing. He said to her, "Don’t move your hands."

Gu Qimiao then realized she still had an IV needle in her hand, lowered it down again, and felt a warm lump under the blanket. Lifting the blanket, she saw a cartoon hot water bottle and, staring at his back, her smile widened.

He raised the dining table attached to the hospital bed, his rolled-up shirt sleeves revealing firm, taut forearms.

Gu Qimiao sat up in bed, raising her hand to grab the chopsticks, but a pair of slender hands took them first, followed by a cold voice: "Don’t move your hand."

Gu Qimiao immediately put down her right hand with the IV, thinking she’d be left-handed for once. Suddenly, something white was brought to her mouth.

Looking down, her heart pounded at the thought—he was feeding her?!

Seeing her just staring at the spoon, he urged impatiently, "Open your mouth."

At his words, Gu Qimiao dumbly opened her mouth, and a spoonful of white rice mixed with a small piece of meat entered.

As she chewed, she saw him lower his head to scoop the second spoonful, and Gu Qimiao hurriedly came to her senses, reaching with her left hand to take the spoon: "...I’ll do it myself." She was too embarrassed; if he kept feeding her, her face would turn as red as a tomato.

Shen Yanchen glanced at her, then put the spoon in her bowl. Her left hand was still somewhat awkward, making it hard to pick up food.

Shen Yanchen quietly picked up food and placed it on her spoon. Gu Qimiao smiled and thanked him before eating it with big bites of rice and food.

During the meal, they cooperated tacitly. Although she didn’t like pig liver, she ate everything he placed on her spoon with a sweet smile, as if even poison would turn to honey in her mouth.

"We’ll go back after the IV drip is finished."

"What about Brother Mo Ming?"

Shen Yanchen said, "He’s asleep. He already ate something earlier."

No matter how much he caused a fuss, as long as Gu Qimiao didn’t know, it was fine.

When the IV drip finished, it was already past three in the afternoon, and after a nap, her spirits were much better.

Before leaving, the caregiver they had hired arrived. He was a male nurse from the hospital. The first couple of days, Gu Moming was unwilling and insisted on Gu Qimiao staying by his side constantly. After some coaxing from her, saying she couldn’t leave work, and with a servant from the Gu family also coming to help, he reluctantly agreed.

Life had returned to how it was just after they came back to the country. She would go to work, visit Gu Moming in the hospital, and then go to Shen Yanchen’s house, though he hadn’t been home in the past couple of days, probably busy with work.

On Monday, she went to the Fine Arts Academy with Fang Shaobei again...
