CHAPTER 5: CHAPTER 5: BURNING DESIRE GOES TO WASTE

A few minutes later, Kyle Keaton changed into a suit, looking like he was about to go out.

"Hubby, where are you going?"

July Quinn’s eyes lit up as she quickly clung to Kyle Keaton’s long arm, flashing what she believed was her sweetest, most beautiful smile to charm her uncle.

Little did she know, her face was covered in dirt.

Kyle Keaton looked at her as if she were a stray cat.

"Don’t touch me with your dirty face." He shook off July Quinn’s hands, utterly heartless.

"But hubby, you still haven’t told me where you’re going."

July Quinn didn’t care about his coldness and indifference, her eyes filled with infatuation and concern as she looked at him.

"Out drinking with friends."

"Oh."

She thought he was going back to The Jacobs Family, so she wanted to follow.

Since he wasn’t, she let it be.

July Quinn’s enthusiasm came and went quickly, and she turned to head to the bathroom.

Kyle Keaton: "..."

Another random wave of frustration.

Shouldn’t she, as his wife, ask which friend he’s drinking with? Male or female?

Forget it, he thought it was odd that he reacted to her approach and even considered avoiding her by drinking with Miles Jacobs.

Now she turned and left, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over his head.

Hmm, all that raging fire fed to the dogs.

Just as Kyle Keaton slammed the door and left, July Quinn received a call from Nina Quinn.

"July, I won the gold medal at the Westmarch Piano Competition."

Nina Quinn’s voice was filled with laughter, making July Quinn want to stuff her mouth with rotten eggs.

It was the third day since she ran away from home, and it was the first time her sister Nina Quinn called her.

Not to find her, but to flaunt her victory in the competition.

"Nathan threw a celebration party for me today at the Blue Duke to celebrate my competition win."

"You probably don’t know about Blue Duke, right? It’s the first luxury music bar in Westmarch, the most desired night entertainment spot for the famous and wealthy in Westmarch."

"But the entry bar for Blue Duke is high, and not everyone can get in. I managed to hold a celebration party here today thanks to Nathan."

"Actually, I didn’t think there was a need for such a grand party, but Nathan insisted, and I had no choice."

Nina Quinn prattled on with her boasting, but none of it had anything to do with July Quinn.

July Quinn curled her lips: "Is that so? Congratulations then."

Wondering if Nina Quinn would be moved to tears when she saw her aunt in the future.

On the other end, Nina Quinn felt like she had punched into cotton.

July Quinn wasn’t even envious of her?

She must be pretending!

In that case, Nina Quinn decided she would personally expose July Quinn’s facade!

"July, I know you really long for the Blue Duke. Why not come over tonight and have fun together?"

Nina Quinn’s invitation caused July Quinn’s lips to twitch a few times.

She really had no idea how Nina Quinn figured she longed for the Blue Duke.

Yet, July Quinn still curved her lips: "Sure, I’ll be over later."

Nina Quinn had already set the stage, so she had to follow along, right?

Half an hour later, at Blue Duke.

Nina Quinn and her best friend Holly Houston led July Quinn inside.

Seeing July Quinn eyeing the understated yet luxurious decor, Nina Quinn asked, "July, how’s the environment here?"

"Just so-so." July Quinn lazily replied.

July Quinn didn’t seem impressed, which irked Nina Quinn.

"Just so-so? Look at the entrance, those are all precious antiques. And this place only serves members who spend a million or more, it’s one of the labels of Westmarch’s social elite."

So when the news of Nathan throwing her a celebration party here got out, those she knew and those she didn’t all praised her to the skies upon hearing it.

She believed she was experiencing a highlight moment in her life, which is why she impatiently invited July Quinn over.

Sure, others might not envy her, but July Quinn must envy her.

After all, ever since July Quinn’s return this past year, her looks and status have been admired by other socialites and young masters, causing Nina extreme jealousy and envy.

So now she not only wanted to take away everything July Quinn had, but also make July Quinn envy her fiercely!

After saying this, Nina Quinn suddenly had a look of realization.

"Oh, I almost forgot, you always lived with Grandpa in the countryside, surely you’re not familiar with these things."

Holly Houston chimed in, "If it weren’t for Nina, you, coming from the boonies, would never set foot in such an upscale place, better take this chance to look around thoroughly."

The two teamed up to humiliate July Quinn, unaware that this scene was clearly reflected in the mirror behind them, caught in those deep-set eyes in the private room...
